[DL-C] Thoughts and Reflections

"Then you know exactly what I'm feeling?" he questioned.

"Yes, that was how I knew you had my knife at the inn. You were guilty
about it, and it was a strong enough emotion that I can see the source. It
was worry about your father, and I think it was love for Kendra," Raissa
said. "By the way, I think we will be seeing her again soon."

"What?!" Kehan exclaimed.

"Go to sleep," she replied. "Tomorrow is going to be a long day."

"Oh, ok Raissa." Kehan said, knowing he went just a bit too far. He rolled
over and tried to get to sleep, but his thoughts were on someone else.

He started to drift off to sleep, but he couldn't get Kendra out of his
mind. His mind was a jumbled mess ever since he laid eyes on her. Even
when he kissed Raissa the only face he saw was Kendra's. But how was he
going to react when he saw her again? He felt abandoned and alone right
now. He hated that feeling. It brought back the childhood he had in the
bandits camp. He escaped that loneliness only to find a greater feeling of
longing for Kendra.

His sleep was troubled as well. Images of Kendra and him dancing in a
field, then laying down with each other to make love under the stars. Then
the stars merging together along with the blackness of the night sky to
become 'something'. He got a feeling of immense power from the blackness.
His thoughts were on protecting Kendra and a dragon, though the dragon
wasn't in the dream. He pulled his sword and the blackness laughed. The
billions of stars that glittered its skin gave off an unholy light. Kendra
and Kehan took off together. He tripped and fell over something, twisting
his ankle. A moment of pain shot through him as he turned and saw the thing
running toward him. He called to Kendra to help him and all he saw was
Kendra laughing at him. Kendra slowly began to transform into something
hideous. No longer the beautiful woman he had loved, but something evil
now. He screamed in his dream then....

"Kehan....KEHAN!" Raissa was shaking him, trying to get him out of his dream.

"KENDRA!!" Kehan shouted as he waswoken up from his nightmare.

"Kehan, are you alright? I got a sense of horror from you and it startled
me. What happened?"

He held her close to him, loving the feeling of his arems wrapped around
something tangible. He started to shake as the adrenalin was pumped into
his body. He wanted to run, but then realised that it was a dream, more
like a nightmare.

"Raissa, I just had the worst nightmare ever. Can we talk about it?"

"Um, sure. Right now though we have to break camp and head down to Cleft.
We can talk along the way."

"Ok, let me just get my wits about me. I'll be ok after I've cleaned up a
bit." Kehan stumbled to the river where he washed himself and, he thought,
washed his soul as well. They broke camp and began the journey to the new
warren.
