[DL-C] A long journey

>Kehan awoke to hear the sound of horses hooves hitting the ground. Bolting
>upright with a start, he looked around to see Raissa standing above him.
>
>"If you wanted a place to stay Kehan, you could have just knocked on my
>door," Raissa said bending down in front of him.
>
>"Yea, then I wouldn't have the pains this morning....OUCH!" Kehan tried to
>stretch and found his legs were knotting up. The cramps came on and he
>writehered on the ground, slowly stretching his legs so the cramp would go
away.
>
>"I could give you a massage if you want," Raissa said, concern on her voice.
>
>"No, that's quite ok. I'll be fine in a bit. Do you have any water?"
>
>"Yes, right here." She stood up and ruffled through her packs for the
>waterskin. Pulling the stopper she bent down to give it to him. Kehan
>drank his fill and put the stopper back into the waterskin.
>
>"Thanks."
>
>"No problem. Say, if you don't mind me asking, where were you heading anyway?"
>
>"Oh, away from that town. Lot of bad memories there now."
>
>"Well, I would enjoy the company if you decided to accompany me to Cleft.
>The road is a lonely place and I think we wouldn't be at each others throats
>by the time we get there. Besides, give you time to forget about Kendra."
>
>"How do you know?"
>
>"A woman just knows when someone is hurt inside deeply. C'mon, lets get you
>out of the dirt and be on our way."
>
When Kehan was finally moving, they went back into the town just long enough
to buy a horse for Kehan.
"Why can't I just walk?" Kehan asked.
"That is because I had been planning to ride at a full gallop, and having
someone on horseback means that I do not have to slow my pace as much,"
Raissa explained. "No, Evalie, the geldings."
"Huh?" Kehan said, intelligently. "The horse is choosing?"
"Who better to choose a horse than a horse?" she replied. She called over
the man who was selling the horse they had selected and payed him for the
horse after haggling a little.
"Mount up," Raissa said.
Kehan reluctantly got on his horse and they rode off.
Around midday they met up with the Dragon River, and they halted for lunch.
Kehan looked with amazement as Raissa proceded to go slapfishing and catch
several fish.
"Do you cook?" Raissa asked.
"Umm, you do it," he replied.
After a well done light lunch of fish and preserved fruit, they continued on.
"At this rate, we should reach the Cleft in a few days, and then it is just
a matter of following the dragons," Raissa said.
"Oh," Kehan said.
"You are not being very talkative. Did I do something?" she asked.
"No, I'm just thinking," he said.
"What about?" she asked.
"Don't pry, I'll tell you when I feel like it," he responded.
