[DL-C] Surprises...

Cynthia had been rushing back and forth around the warren so many times
she felt as if she would go dizzy in a moment. So much to do, and it
seemed that it had to all be done, approved, or signed by her. Sitting
down on a nearby rock, she took a deep breath, wanting just to keep a
little time to rest.

Suddenly there was a trumpet, and a flock of dragons took to the sky.
'Syren, what is going on here?' she asked her dragon.

*A mating flight.* The queen responded, and the warrenlady shook her
head. Great, that was the last thing they needed right now. Watching
the rainbow of colors chase the famale around, there was a mid air
collision, and two dragons tumbled to the ground. Where had the foreign
one come from?

Jumping up, she ran to the landing sight, being met half-way by Dan'yar.

"A transfer just arrived in the middle of the flight. He's the one who
collided with my brothers dragon. His dragon Rook seems to have hurt
himself, but I told him you'd talk with him before I get a healer." The
man said, and Cynthia nodded.

As they approached, she could see the young man standing by his dragon,
looking very embarrassed and confused. But that was no excuse for
jumping in the way they did...

"Just what were you doing up there?" Cynthia said. The young man
spun around to look at her. "Can't you control yourself better than
that? You could have both been killed!"

B'rand felt his face grow hot. "Why don't you sit on a nail, sister," he
snapped. "Until you strap yourself on several tons of rutting dragon,
what the hell gives you the right to chastise me?!?"

Just then Dan'yar stepped forward. "I found someone you needed to talk to,
B'rand," he said, indicating the woman. "This is Cynthia, our
Warrenlady." He said, his face looking quite white after hearing what he
had just said to her.

B'rand felt his jaw drop. "Great," he mumbled.

"While I appreciate our riders having a forward attitude, you might want
to study up on rudeness." Cynthia said, and looked at Rooks leg. "It's
spraigned. A splint will do the trick for a few days. Dan'yar, would
you go and get a healer while I talk with this young rider here?" She
asked, and the man nodded, heading off. She turned towards the youth,
and saw that he was quite uncomfortable.

After looking at him for a few moments, she finally smiled and shook her
head. "You can calm down. I'm not going to have you burned alive or fed
to a dragon." She said, and B'rand looked at her strangely. "It would
harm your dragon." she said, and the boy finally smiled.

"Good, now that I have you smiling, could you tell me your name?" She asked.

"B'rand, m'lady." He said, putting a hand to his face.

"Please, Cynthia." She said, and put a hand on the riders shoulder. "And
don't look so embarrassed, I know what it's like to be sitting atop two
tons of rutting dragon myself." She mentioned with a laugh, "And have a
moody queen to look after to prove it. Please, tell me something about
yourself while we wait for the healers. What can you offer cleft?"
