*Waiting really sucks.*

<<We could always try and search for her. Where do you propose to
start?>>

*Yeah, right, we've already asked around and flew around the warren.
She's either not here or is hiding. And it's your fault.*

<<I make no apologies.>>

*I didn't figure you would. Plus, I really shouldn't be blaming you. It's
a mating flight- happens all the time. There's nothing to apologize
for.*

<<So why are you acting so guilty?>>

*Because it knocked Lenna for a loop, and, well, damn it, I don't know!
She's in the wrong, and I'm not going to be able to make her see
reason.*

<<Mmm hmm. And now you're upset because you care what she
thinks, even if you think she's wrong. Is this what humans call love?>>

*Damned if I know. Never done it before.*

<<Ooo, how sweet. Perhaps you'll write a poem or something, now.>>

*Oh, shut up.*

Presently, B'rand could hear the whoosh of wings and scrabble of claws
as a dragon landed in the other section of the apartment. B'rand sat
back on the couch, deciding to wait, wondering for the fiftieth time
what he could say.

Finally, she entered the room, looking over to him. Their eyes met
as he stood up and came towards her.

"I was worried about..."

"I was acting like a ...."

They both started speaking at the same time.

"Lenna.."

"B'rand...."

Then she put her hand on his arm and could have rejoiced when he
didn't pull it away from her touch.

"Please love, I need to tell you."

"I know Lenna, Lonnie told me. I was a mating flight, love. Rook
just took off and there was nothing I could do to stop him. But
that was all it was."

"Are you sure?" How jealous she sounded, he thought.

<< Wouldn't you be if I lost to another dragon at Blanchie's
flight?>>

*Yes, but I don't think I would have reacted so strongly. It's the
nature of things.*

<<Uh huh, I guess we might see someday.>>

"Damn it woman, I'm here aren't I?"

"And it's a good thing you were handsome," she threw at him as she
walked past him on the way into her bed room. Inside her heart
swelled with love for him.

"Oh!! and why is that," he asked following her.

"Because if you hadn't have been," she smiled a little to sweetly.
"You wouldn't have had to worry about wraiths and rouge dragons
getting you.... I would have killed you myself."

"Oh really?" he said, turning Lenna around. He could see how her
breathing had quickened at his touch; gods, she was beautiful....
and desirable...and his. No point denying it now, they were bound
together more strongly that he had ever experienced. He never
wanted her to leave him again.

"Maybe you'd like me to be here all the time," he said, holding
her glance. A moment of silence passed, stretched.

"What are you saying?"

"I'm saying that I want us to share an apartment, provided we
can find one that'll fit two dragons. I don't think that will be a
problem."

"Move in together?"

"That's what mates do, don't they?" He paused to let that
sink in. "What do you say?"
