[DL-C] Help, in So Many Ways

Scene: Cleft Green - Shortly after Lenna's capture

J'rrid jogged across the green to his waiting dragon. His sword slapped
against his thigh as he ran. About half of the first flight of Alpha
wing was already assembled on the green. The rest would follow as soon
as they managed to get organized. He hoped it would be enough to deal
with whatever trouble Lenna had stirred up.

He vaulted into the saddle, and Gestured to the wing to take flight.
The dragons launched themselves into the air and began climbing. When
they had reached an altitude of 200 feet the dragons dissapeared from
above the warren.

***Dining Hall
M'yer looked out the window at the assembling dragons on the green. "I
wonder what's going on."

"A rider dissapeared in a cave and they're going to search for her.
Next time try asking your dragon," P'ker replied, "You done?" he asked
pointing to M'yer's copy of the volume calculation.

"Yes, my brilliant friend, I'm done," M'yer replied sarcasticaly. He
wrote his total volume down on another sheet of paper and handed his
stack of calculations to P'ker.

P'ker handed his calculation to M'yer, and fliped through M'yer's
calculation. He looked at the total on the last page, "I don't think
they're within 2%," he said.

M'yer looked at the total in P'ker's calcualtion, and the total from his
that he'd written down. "No," he sighed, "Now I suppose I'll have to
find your mistake."

"My mistake? I don't think so," P'ker replied.

"Ok, the one who made the mistake buys the beer."

"How much?"

"A lot," M'yer said with a smile.

***Cynthia's Apartment

The scisors worked with a rhythmic clicking noise. Hair fell unheeded
to the floor. She looked into the mirror at her shortened, uneven hair,
"Much better," she said.

She turned from the mirror and walked back out to the main room of the
apartment. From the closet she took her riding jacket and put it on.
She grabbed her quarter staff and walked out of the apartment into the
sunlight.

***Dreamscape

"Oh no!" Cynthia excliamed, "Anything but that!"

"What is it?" Vanessa said rushing over to sit next to Cynthia.

"Look," Cynthia said pointing to bowl of water that was her only window
to the outside world.

Vanessa leaned over and looked. Cynthia appeared to be looking in a
mirror. Vanessa saw a red mark on Cynthia's forehead, "It doesn't look
that bad dear. You must have hit your head when you fell."

"I don't care about the mark, look in her hand."

Vanessa watched as Cynthia raised her hand and began cutting her hair
off in large clumps. "Oh, my," she breathed.

They watched as the hair was cut, roughly, impatiently. Several times
the scisors had to be cleaned because they became jammed with hair.

Finally Cynthia couldn't bare to watch any more. She stood and turned
away from the bowl, her fists clenched, "I'll make him pay for this,"
she hissed.

"Do you think you can?" Vanessa asked.

"I'll find a way."

***Near Lake Isle - In a cave

Gomar worked his way carefully along the narrow ledge. The drop wasn't
far, only 20 feet or so, but Gomar didn't want to fall. The fact that
he was carrying an unconcious Lenna didn't help his sense of balance.
After going about 30 feet, the ledge widened and after another 20, the
floor of the chasm sloped gently up to meet the passage Gomar was in.

With his footing more sure, Gomar began to jog along the passage. He
turned right at the next two intersections before stopping in a chamber
with a small underground stream running through it. The air was damp,
and a diffuse light was provided by phosforescent fungus growing on the
walls of the cavern.

Gomar put Lenna down gently. What had begun as a quest for a little
sport had turned into more trouble than they had bargained for. Lenna's
dragon would know she was still alive, and the riders who must now be on
their way would concentrate their energies on finding her. He and the
other rogue riders might yet aviod detection.

***Outside the cave

J'rrid stepped into the cave. He carried his sword in one hand and a
small lantern in the other. He could hear several other riders
preparing to follow him. He walked forward 10 feet stopped, realizing
how hard it could be to find Lenna. The passageway split into three
passages. This place is like a maze, he thought.

He heard a scraping noise from one of the passages. J'rrid brought his
sword up and held it ready. Katrina came around a corner, and sighed
deeply at the sight of a familiar face. J'rrid lowered his sword.

"Thank the gods," Katrina said. "We're going to need all the help we
can get searching for Lenna."

"It's bad?" he asked.

NRPG:
Kris: Tag! Have fun in the caves. Feel free to use any in the pile of
NPCs I've sent you. I expect that B'rand will show up at some point,
too.

Barb: Can you fill me in a bit on what's up with the rogues and where'
you're thinking of heading with this? Also, we need to coordinate a
little something. I'll send you a couple of ideas.

Lyn: I'll leave the answer that P'ker and M'yer come up with up to you.

All: Please add Laura MacArthur <Kirli@ifgs.com> to your mailing lists.
Kris Gant sent her our way since she's interested in playing at Cleft.
She'll be working on a bio, and I expect she'll be joining us shortly.
Also, I'll probably have some time to work on the bio file this weekend
(Beth'll be in the woods with the Brownies), so if you have any bio
changes, please send them to me.

That's it. Good night, all.

Respectfully submitted,
