[DL-C] In Search of Lenna: The Conclusion

NRPG: I hope it's ok that I finished the search up
Scene: Deep in the cave near Isle Lake.
Katrina and the rest of J'rrid's search team headed down the new cave
on the otherside of the underground river. The cave's passageway went
directly alongside the river, then split to the left and to the right.
Before the party split up into twos, Katrina heard her dragon.
<I have good news and bad>. Katrina could hear sadness in her dragon's
thoughts.
<It is about Voger and My'kle isn't it?>. The silence from Azure confirmed
as much. Katrina could sense the pain from Azure at Voger's suicide.
Katrina had hardly known the two, but she was still saddened by their loss.
Katrina sighed and sent,(What is the good news? Has anyone found Lenna
or Cynthia>?
<No, but Rook's rider and his team found an underground lake and Blanchie
says her rider is awake-isn't that great news>!
Katrina thought to herself,*Yes that is great for search teams, but
probably not for Lenna-she is probably chomping at the bit to coin a
phrase. Which is all the more reason to step up the search, because
Katrina knew, one thing her patrol partner wasn't, was patient.*
Katrina sent,<Does Blanchie have any idea where her rider is>.
<Only that it is dark, cold, and she can hear water>, came Azure's reply.
Katrina thought sarcastiaclly to herself,*Well that just about covers
the majority of these caves!*
Katrina sent,<Please tell Blanchie to ask her rider if she hears us to
make some noise, like banging a rock or something. I know it might be tough
for her if she is bound, but maybe she might be able make some noise>.
The team broke up to check the passageways. Katrina and L'cas went
down the right passage and J'rrid and another rider went down the left.
Katrina wanted to call for Lenna, but she knew if the rogues were anywhere
around and heard, it would make matters more complicated. The tunnel they
were in inclined, leveled off, and exited at a fork. Katrina could see dim
light coming from the right fork. She sent L'cas down the left tunnel to
see if he could locate Lenna there, since water could be heard that way.
Katrina headed right towards the light. The passage had a couple tunnels
off it, but they both seemed to head away from the stream. She found a gap
where the light had come from, it was not large, but wide enough for someone
to go through, and to her relief it went outside. Well at least the group
had an exit nearby so they wouldn't have to cross the gorge again.
Katrina took a breath of fresh air and headed back inside. As she went
along she briefly contacted Azure to see what was up with the others via
their dragons. L'cas' tunnel had ended in a dead end. He could hear water
but there was no exit or a cave. J'rrid's tunnel had ended in a cliff near
the underground lake and he could see B'rand's group on the otherside, but
they hadn't found Lenna.
Katrina was almost back to the fork where she left L'cas. After hearing
about the lack of success from the others, she slumped down against
the entrance to one of the small tunnels she had passed earlier. She picked
up a medium size rock and whipped it down the tunnel in fustrations and
cursed loudly. She could care less if the rogues heard her. At least if
they showed up, maybe she could force them to tell her where they put Lenna.
Azure sent,<Come now my rider, such violent thoughts are n...>. Katrina
stopped her dragon's thoughts with:
<Shh, I heard something down this tunnel>. It came again, a tapping
sound, below and to the right, a short distance inside the tunnel. She
called to L'cas, and told her dragon to pass the information to the
other dragons so they could tell their riders.
Katrina hurried inside the tunnel, not waiting for L'cas. The tunnel
sloped down just inside, and curved back towards the river. She stopped
often to listen, and tap with the end of her torch. Katrina could still
hear the tapping, it was louder but erratic. She ended in what appeared
to be a dead end. It was located below, and to the right of the incline,
just before the fork L'cas and her had found. She thought,*Poor Lenna she
probably heard them as the approached the fork, and then lost them as they
moved away to check the fork's tunnel's.*
Katrina found the entrance to Lenna's cave. It was blocked from view by
rubble, and without close inspection would have been difficult to spot.
Lenna was laying on the cave floor with a rock held awkwardly between her
bound hands. Katrina thought,"No wonder the tapping was erratic, it must
have been difficult for her to move her hands.* She quickly slit Lenna's
bindings with a dagger, helped her sit up, gave her a drink of water from
her canteen, and told her the others were on there way.
Lenna grinned and said,"You know I've never heard you curse so loud
before, that was very unladylike of you."
Katrina grinned back and said,"Well that's good, cause I'm no lady!"
The two were laughing at their comments when the rest of J'rrid's team
showed up. B'rand's team was still on the otherside of the underground
lake, so they would meet them at the cave's main entrance. Katrina
mentioned the other entrance she had found, so J'rrid's team wouldn't
have to go back over the gorge.
As they headed out Lenna said,"Well it was about time you all showed up."
Katrina grinned knowing her patrol partner was still the same Lenna, and
none the worse for ware after her ordeal.

all: Well I hope it was alright that Katrina found Lenna. Sorry if it
was so wordy/descriptive, adding more dialogue just didn't fit.
