She didn't understand humans.  Why was her rider worried about having a 
hatchling?  It was a wonderful thing!  She had her eggs, and her rider had 
a human hatchling growing inside her.  And it might even have been from the 
mating flight.  Wouldn't that be nice?

<Rook!  I have happy news!  My rider and your rider may be having a 
hatchling together.  Isn't that wonderful?>

<A hatchling!> Rook answered.  <My rider has never had a hatchling before.>

<But, there is a chance that the sire is the man who forced her to mate 
with him.  She is worried it might be him.  I hope it is your rider.>

<I hope so, too,> Rook replied.

Tymor then told her friend Blanchie the news.  Blanchie was sure her rider 
would be thrilled to learn that her mate was possibly going to be a sire 
and couldn't wait to tell her.

Tymor continued to spread the good news, as did the dragons who had learned 
of it.

By the time the news reached them that Syren's rider had passed out and 
Brisse emerged from the Medical Center, there wasn't a dragon there who 
didn't know.
