NRPG: This should clear up any confusion created by Holly and Lyn's most
recent posts. Keep up the good work.
RPG:

For some reason, fear was tucked into a corner of her mind. Cynthia
was far more concerned with how she could avert a tragedy outside her
warren. Ani saw Cynthia take a few steps toward the boy, and hurried
to take her place at Cynthia's side.
"Can you get his attention?" Cynthia asked.
Ani called out to the boy, and he looked over at them, but neither
responded, nor moved.
The man they had been talking to said something to them that Ani did
not bother to translate. Cynthia could only assume the worst.
To her right, a nomad emerged from a tent, followed by, "Brisse!"
Cynthia exclaimed.
> Cynthia's look of shock might have been funny in other
> circumstances.
>
> "Um.... Hi," was all Brisse could think to say.
Then D'ren and Qedhar stepped out of the tent, Qedhar walked over to
the other nomad and spoke to him in their flowing tongue.
Cynthia leaned close to Ani and said, "It looks like I should have
gotten out of bed earlier this morning."
Ani smiled, nodded and replied, "The first bear to the river catches
the most fish."
Qedhar and Jinam talked for a moment and then Jinam approached the
two women. Jinam spoke and Ani translated, "You honor us with your
presence woman ruler. Brisse has told us of your generous offer."
"My generous offer?" Cynthia said softly, then she motioned Brisse over
to her. Brisse crossed the distance between them in a few strides.
"What exactly is my generous offer?" Cynthia asked her.
"That the Hanan tribe can settle here as free people and work the land
by the river. We would protect them from attack. In exchange they
would have to tithe and offer candidates for hatchings."
"Basically they'd have to live like landbound?" Cynthia asked.
"Yes," Brisse replied, "but it's better than death."
"Do they think so?"
Jinam watched the exchange between the two women with great interest.
Even though he could not understand their words, he could tell from
Brisse's body language that she had great respect for 'Cintia.'
"Jinam said that the tribe will consider it," Brisse replied.
Cynthia turned to Ani, "Please tell Jinam that I eagerly await a
decision from the Hanan tribe."
Ani translated, and then listened to his reply. "He says he wants you
to join him at dawn for breakfast. He will tell you then what Hanan
intends to do."
Qedhar walked over and said, "The first meal is very important to
Nomads. It prepares Warriors for a day of battle."
The old man who had spoken to Cynthia and Ani before rushed over and
spoke in curt tones to Jinam. He listened for about half a minute and
cut the man off with a wave. Then he repeated his question to Cynthia.
"I'll be here," Cynthia nodded.
NRPG:
Ok, I think that fixes a situation that was not really broken in the
first place (just a little twisted). If anyone else wants to
contribute, feel free. I'd be interested to know what the old man said.
Holly: On your qustion of communication between dragons and riders, I
think it is a matter of personal preference. If you feel comfortable
writing Cynthia and Syren, then feel free. I've had a number of
characters hosed in various ways by other players over the last year and
a half and I haven't let it bother me yet. If you want, you can send me
an NRPG message (I always read those first) with the dialogue.
