[DL-C] Show me the way to go home...

<<I think perhaps you'd better go to the dining hall,>> Rook signalled
to B'rand.
*Why? I already ate.*
<<Blanchie's rider hasn't had anything to eat, either.>>
*Ah, she's back from patrol. Or mapping, or whatever it is. I'll bet
she's as mad as a hornet. No, thanks.*
<<No, not mad...just drunk.>>
*Drunk? You gotta be kidding.* B'rand couldn't remember Lenna ever
being drunk before. *Was the duty that bad?*
<<No. Blanchie says that they saved a nomad girl. She has another
problem.>>
A short time passed, then *Well?!?*
<<I don't know what it is, do I have to do everything for you? Ask her,
not me.>>
*All right. This is too good to pass up.* B'rand detoured, entered the
dining hall, snuck up behind his mate.
"...and I don't see why.. you think sumptin's
gotta be wrong for me to have a lil drink."
"Because you don't normally act like a lush," an unmistakable voice said
from behind her seconds before his arm slipped around her waist to support her.
"B`rand my love...there you are..." she giggled when she saw the grin on his
handsome face. "You come ta have a drinkie with me?"
"No Lenna," he shook his head. "I've come to take you home. Don't you think
you've had enough to drink?"
"Nope..." she shook her head.
"Well I do love," he turned then and nodded to Katrina who sat there trying
not to laugh as she watched the two. Not knowing what to expect out of her
partner, she wanted to have a front row seat if B`rand had to use
his...ah... talent for keeping her in line.
Lenna wanted another drink. What she had had so far wouldn't be nearly
enough to keep the nightmares at bay.
"Want another drink and I'm gonna have one," she told him. "And you can't
stop me..."
"Want to bet!" He saw her tense, then relax.
"Look Lenna, I haven't had that great a day and really don't feel like
having to carry you out of here," he warned her. "But I will if I have to.
Now are you coming with me?"
"No...I won't be alone," she said so softly he barely heard her. "B`rand'll
be there. He'll keep me safe."
"Let's go home," she pressed her body closer to his.
She didn't fight it when he led her to Rook and mounted her before him on
the short flight up to their apartment.
Once there, he picked her up, turned her around and stood her
before him. "All right, mind telling me why you all of a sudden decided
to have a few drinks?"
Lenna shook her head. "Not gonna tell," she said.
"Sure you will," he continued as he grabbed her hands and held them
behind her. "I might just deny my body until you tell me."
Inches away from him, Lenna leaned forward and bit his nose.
"Ow! Dammit," he said as she skipped into the bedroom...
