TELNOR [Meeting at Geode] > "Ash has found a way of manipulating that 'thing' inside him. C'nis > said > that it was a vanguard. A vanguard doesn't engage in battle. A > vanguard > seeks out information. If it comes across the enemy it will engage it, > of > course, but what it doesn't do is send in reinforcements! Ash somehow > manoeuvred the wraith to do 'his' bidding by sending as many wraiths > against > you to be destroyed. Less for you to deal with at the next battle." > > "You can't be serious!?" It was Ga'brin again. "He tried to kill > Geode's > Warrenlady and you expect us to believe that by sending hundreds of > wraiths > against her was an act of kindness. Wake up and smell the coffee, > Tahlaya! > Ash is a traitor! The sooner he is dead the better." > "She has a point," H'nry said, "I know Ash and he would never have thrown away hundreds of his troops in a suicidal attack that couldn't further his purpose." "Maybe he was testing her strength, trying to overwhelm her defenses," R'ven offered. "I don't think so. A few wraiths I could understand, but this..." H'nry shook his head, "This seems to be an act of anger. Ash the General would never let anger dictate his actions. Ash the host might try to use emotion to foil the hellspawn's plans." "Regardless," R'ven said, "Ash is too dangerous a tool to allow the wraiths to keep. We have to do all we can to ensure this is his last battle." **** [After the Meeting - On the Green- before the scene in Lea's post] H'nry jogged across the green to catch up with Tahlaya. He called her name to get her attention which caused her to pause and wait for him. "I want to appologize for Gab'rin," H'nry said as he approached, "he's a bit out of sorts." "He's a big boy," Laya replied without turning toward him, "he can appologize for himself." "Probably," H'nry shrugged, "The problem is that some share his opinion. They question your motives." "And you, H'nry? Do you question my motives?" "I hope your goal is to stop the wraith horde, like the rest of us. I hope your first loyalty is to the Warren," H'nry said. Laya turned toward him and her eyes bored through him for a moment, "All I want is a chance to save him. I know that Ash is still alive in there, and I want him back. Is that asking for too much?" "No, it isn't," H'nry sighed, "I'll do my best to give you your chance, Laya." "Thank you, H'nry." "No so fast. I'll try to give you your chance, but know this. Every rider from Telnor has been instructed to do anything they can to stop Ash, and that includes killing him. I will not hesitate to kill him myself if the opportunity arises. You will need to keep your eyes open for your chance, and you'll have to take it. You probably won't get a second opportunity." "I understand," Tahlaya replied, "I can't ask for more." H'nry reached out and squeezed Laya's hand, "Good luck." Tahlaya nodded, turned and continued across the green to where her dragon was waiting. For a moment, H'nry found himself questioning her motives. *** CLEFT [The Green at Geode] "Dan'yar!" Hearing his name called got his attention and Dan'yar turned from adjusting his saddle to see J'errid walking across the green toward him. "What in the gods names are you doing here?" Dan'yar said. "I couldn't let the wing go into a battle of this magnitude without me," the Alpha Wingleader replied. "When S'lomon realizes you're not in the Med Center he's going to have a fit," Dan'yar pointed out. J'errid shrugged, "Let him. My place is at the head of the wing. My first duty is to the warren." "Are you sure you're up to this?" "I'm not feeling great," J'errid admitted, "but well enough to fight." "I understand," Dan'yar replied. "So is there a plan?" NRPG: Not much, but the long weekend has sapped my creativity a bit. Beth also has the end of the semester rapidly approaching and she's beginning to panic. That's also sapping my creativity :) Cleft-ites: A more Cleft-centric post is coming. I need to deal with several issues, including dispatching the wing to Geode. (At the moment the riders are there without being told to be there. Could the timeline be more hosed up?) Telnor folks: I'm hoping for a Telnor post this weekend. Wish me luck.
