[DL-C] A body's got nothing to complain about
by

<<If you feed me another handful of that stuff, I'm going to belch and
flame all over you.>>

*Shut up and keep eating, you baby.*

<<I'm not kidding! You know I can't handle this stuff! Whoops, hang
on...>> Rook suddenly dived to the left, avoiding the greyish form of
a wraith.

*Damn it, you see how many we're up against! How much longer can
you hold out?*

<<Not forever. I'm really starting to feel the burn. I need a healer.>>

*It's your own fault, you know. Up and to the left.* Rook climbed, flaming
a wraith as Meritanth swooped below them for another.

<<Azure...hold on, my rider!>> Rook poured on the speed, twisting
his neck to flame a wraith that had moved behind Lenna's partner.
B'rand had time to see the amused look on his mate's face before he
twisted his fist wrathfully on the leather bindings.

*What the hell are you trying to do, get us killed? All you had to do was
shout a warning, you pathetic little show-off!*

<<Who are you calling 'pathetic'?>> Rook rumbled, then: <<We'll have to
leave the combat. I'm almost out, and I doubt I'll be able to take any
more.>>

*Once again, your heartburn has stopped a perfectly good showing. You're
definitely seeing a healer when this is over.*

<<Sure I will. What about Meritanth? He can still flame, and I can't
protect him.>>

*You're going to have to, if he's going to stay in...what is he doing, angling
for more? Didn't you tell Meritanth your problem?*

<<Er, not yet.>>

*Do it !!*

<<All right, I've embarrassed myself totally in front of the other dragons,
are you happy?>> Smoke poured from his nostrils. <<Sometimes you're
almost not worth the trouble of carrying.>>

*I just want my partner out of danger.*

<<They're pulling away. Maybe I could spot for them, give them warning,
or something. All is not over yet.>>

*What are Blanchie and Lenna doing?*

<<Still fighting...I've really got to rest, B'rand. I hurt.>> Rook started
angling downward.

*No, no! Teleport!* Suddenly, they were descending to their ledge,
where Rook landed roughly.

*Rook?*

<<I'll be all right, after I get a little rest. I hope...>>
