DL-C: Newly Found Treasure

Leis landed on the green near the Med Center and S'lomon dismounted
quickly. Shiner landed a few feet away and Dan'yar hurried over to help
him. They untied the stretcher from the mounting points on Leis' saddle
and carried H'irol into the Med Center.

They turned into the first empty room and another healer and several
nurses swarmed toward H'irol while S'lomon stepped back to shrug off his
riding jacket. He then extended his hand to Dan'yar, "Thanks for your
help."

"Is there anything else you need me to do?"

"No, I don't think so."

"Do you think he'll live?" Dan'yar asked.

"I do," S'lomon nodded, "I think we got to him in time."

[Green]

Garoth paced back and forth on the green near the Med Center. Cynthia
was helping to check out the minor injuries that riders and dragons
always incurred during a fight with wraiths. She was bandaging the arm
of a rider who had gotten hit with a falling piece of coal dropped from
a dragon who was at a higher altitude. It would turn an ugly purple by
morning, but was no more serious than that.

*Syren, dear, could you please do something about that?*

<He is concerned about his rider. His reaction is understandable.>

*I'll grant you that, but if he spends the next day pacing back and
forth, he's going to wear the grass down. Besides he can't sleep out on
the green.*

<Should I direct him to an apartment?>

*That's what I was hinting at.*

Syren mentally sighed, <You humans are so obtuse sometimes.>

Cynthia laughed, and Syren walked over to Garoth. <I am Syren, queen of
Cleft Warren.>

<I am Garoth of Shakar Warren.>

<I do not know what you did to deserve being banished as a rogue, but
while your rider is here you are welcome at my Warren. We will find you
an apartment to stay in.>

<I want to be close to my rider,> Garoth replied.

<We will see what's available.>

[Cynthia's Office]
> "Triss said that she could recognize Syren's thoughts,"he continued. "So
> maybe she has to have spoken to the dragon she's trying to find."
>
> Cynthia's expression grew thoughtful. "That rogue they brought in
> earlier..."
>
> "Is probably pretty lonely right now," Trevor said, grinning. "What with
> having to be away from his warren and alll. I wonder if he'd enjoy spending
> some time talking to a cute little hatchling?"
>

"Everyone seems to think that it's imperative that we find the location
of Shakar Warren." Cynthia said thoughtfully.

"Everyone?" Trevor asked.

"Well, you and and D'arcon."

"And you don't think it's imperative?"

"I think we need to do it, but I don't feel right about interrogating
Garoth or H'riol. He's injured and we've got time to find out what he
knows. If we come on too strong, I'm afraid he'll refuse to tell us
anything."

"Garoth wouldn't feel threatened by Trissana, she's just a hatchling,"
Trevor offered.

"Garoth is also alone and his rider is injured. He may not be in the
best mental state right now. I'm worried that he might do something to
Trissana."

"We'll be careful, I promise."

Cynthia shook her head and laughed, "You're impossible to say no to.
Meet me in my apartment for dinner and let me know if you find anything
out."

***
D'arcon knocked lightly on the door to Cynthia's office, "You wanted to
see me?"

"Yes. You're aware the one of the Rogues is in the Med Center?"

"Yes. This may represent an opportunity to find Shakar."

"I agree. I've asked Trevor to have Trissana speak to Garoth and see
what she can find out."

"A hatchling?!?"

"Yes. We thought that Garoth would feel less threatened by her asking
questions than by Syren asking questions."

[NRPG: The timing could be interesting here. Did Adrian talk to Garoth
first. Did he annoy Garoth putting Trissana in danger, etc. I'll leave
how that all works out to John and Krister.]

[Dining Hall]

Katrina sat eating a sandwich and drinking a cool glass of some kind of
juice she didn't recognize. There were times she could swear that the
Cleft cooks would find strange NomadLands fruits and determine if they
were poisonous by serving them to the entire Warren.

She heard footsteps behind her and the chair next to her was pulled
back. She looked over and saw P'ker drop into it.

"It's been a while since my last wraith battle. For a while I thought
M'yer and I might be out of practice," P'ker said.

"You two seemed to do fine. You helped Azure and I out."

"Anythime," he said and looked at his drink for a moment, "Are you doing
anything for dinner this evening?"

NRPG:
That's it for now. I heard about Arlene, BTW. Her ISPs got problems at
the moment. I'll keep you posted as I find out more.

Respectfully submitted,
Warrenlady Cynthia - Cleft Warren
