Trevor
(during the mating flight)

It was a completely new experience for him, this peculiar
double-vision that suddenly afflicted him. One part of him saw the
riders of Cleft's male dragons clustered tightly around him...but the
other part of him saw through his dragon's eyes, as she frantically
dodged her suitors high overhead. He felt the lust that coursed through
her, but at the same time felt it submerged beneath a rising tide of
fear.

Triss didn't understand mating flights, this being her first such
experience...she only understood what it felt like to be forced to the
ground by an insane dragon whose sole intent was to rape her without her
consent. And that was what she thought was happening now. He fought
to make her understand that this was different, but her fear surrounded
her like a wall that his reassurances could not penetrate. For now, his
only hope was that he could keep her from hurting one of the others if
they got too close.

He knew that he would have to be a full participant in this,
something he had sworn he would never do. The only thing that kept him
here was the certain knowledge that, were their roles reversed, the
selflessly devoted Trissana would have spared no effort on his behalf.
He could do no less for her now.

For now, he would do what he had to...and worry about the cost to
himself later.

<<Bohoc circled around the pursuing males, again using his greater
agility and swiftness, he came up to Trissana, calling to her.

<< <Triss - it is me, Bohoc! You know me Triss! Would I hurt you?
Triss?? I am here to protect you!>

<<Trissana faltered - Bohoc had protected her, Bohoc wouldn't let
Rashevon harm her!

<< <Bohoc! Help me! Save me!> Triss called to him. But as he
approached, she could see his dragon-lust growing stronger, and her fear
overwhelmed her, and instead of letting him join her, she raked out with
her claws.

Seeing his danger, Bohoc twisted away, so that her claws only
grazed his wing. Losing momentum, he lost altitude and dropped beneath
her.

<Oh, Bohoc, not you too!> she moaned, feeling the strength drain
from her as the despair of losing her last ally settled over her like a
leaden weight.

Suddenly another male was in front of her, angling over to try and
cut off her escape. She banked sharply and he skidded past her,
flapping his wings frantically - but uselessly - to stop himself in time
to grab her. She roared her disgust at him as the distance between them
increased.

However, her banking turn had allowed the smaller and more
maneuverable Bohoc to close with her yet again. Just as she was
leveling out, she felt his weight land atop her and his claws grasp her
tightly, holding on despite her frantic attempts to dislodge him. Their
wings entangled, the two dragons went into a flat spin, fluttering
earthward.

<It will be okay,> he assured her. <I will not hurt you...I will
protect you...I will love you...>

<NO!> she screamed, fighting madly to throw him off. <You will do
to me what *he* tried to do!>

     <If you will only submit...>

<I will never submit,> she said, defeated, and let her entire body
go limp. She couldn't escape him, she saw that now. There was only one
way out for her.

<Triss, no!> Bohoc screamed, as their descent suddenly became an
uncontrolled plunge. She was far too heavy for him to hold aloft, and
the ground drew closer with each passing second.

He felt Andahar's arms around him, and at the same time felt
Bohoc's claws clutching his dragon. He felt her despair, and suddenly
knew what she would do to avert the fate that awaited her. His fear
rose, but with an effort of will he thrust it down...just as he had for
the fifteen long years before he had met her. And he knew what he
needed to do.

He put his arms around Andahar, drawing the young Nomad tightly
against him, and spoke calmly to his dragon.

Trissana

As they fell, a part of her mind spoke to her...the part she
recognized as belonging to her rider.

*This is not right,* he said. *You must not do this. Submit to
him.*

     <No!> she cried defiantly.

*R'bert,* he said softly. *Remember R'bert, Kracken's rider...*

Hearing that name was like having cold water dashed onto her. What
had she been thinking? She would prefer death to a repeat of her
earlier experience...but if she died, what would become of Trevor?
She'd been on the green the day Kracken had died, and saw what it had
done to his poor rider...she could not do that to her own beloved rider,
no matter what it cost her.

<I...submit!> she cried out in despair. She heard Bohoc's sigh of
relief, and felt her rider's own sigh. The two dragons broke apart and
Triss straightened her wings, gliding slowly downward, Bohoc right
behind her. Behind them, the disappointed males broke off the chase,
acknowledging Bohoc as the winner.

She landed heavily by a grove of trees that grew next to a small
stream, still exhausted from the long chase. Seeing Bohoc land behind
her, she hung her head in defeat. She wanted to spread her wings again
and flee, but knew she could not. She had submitted to him...now she
was his, to do with as he wished. She lay down heavily on the ground,
tucking her head under one wing so she at least would not see what was
happening to her. Trembling with fear she waited, trying to concentrate
on the sounds she could hear to distract her, the sounds of chirping
crickets, and the soothing trickle of a small waterfall nearby.

After a few moments, though, nothing had happened. She cautiously
peered out from beneath her wing, her blue eyes shining softly in the
gathering darkness. Bohoc stood behind her, unmoving. His intense gaze
was on her, and she could feel the lust that filled him. But he did not
move, despite the fact that he was visibly shaking from the effort not
to do so.

     <Bohoc?> she asked tentatively.

Bohoc started at the sound of her mindvoice. <I...was just
thinking how beautiful you looked lying there, and how much I would like
to...>

<Then do it,> she said, looking away. <Why do you make me wait?
Please, get it over with.>

<No,> he said sadly. <I want you, badly...but I will not force
myself on you against your will.>

Triss blinked. <You...would not?> she asked, amazed. <But I have
already submitted...>

<But you have not truly consented,> he said sadly. <You must do
this of your own free will, because you *desire* to...or else I would
only be defiling you as Rashevon tried to.>

Trissana's eyes widened in wonder, and she found to her surprise
that she was growing less and less afraid by the moment. The feelings
of lust that Bohoc radiated were little different from those she'd felt
emanating from Rashevon...but now she was beginning to understand the
difference. Underneath the lust, Bohoc truly *cared* for her, and would
not hurt her even to satisfy his own powerful urges.

*Any of the others would have done as he has,* said Trevor.
*Triss...this can be a wonderful thing, if you will only let it.*

The pearl dragon cocked her head as she met Bohoc's gaze, and with
her rider's help started to relax. As her fear subsided, other feelings
began to come to the fore.

     <Bohoc...I am...ready,> she told him.

(Arlene - over to you! Have fun! :)

NRPG: This was sort of a Triss-centric post, and I still have a couple
of other tags to pick up. I'll get to those in my next post, which I
should have out shortly...but I wanted to keep the ball rolling with
this situation.
