Day 3(late afternoon)
Katrina's apartment

 Katrina watches as Seth looks over the riding helmet she gave him. It was
a nicely polished dark leather helmet in good condition with an embossed
dragon on one side. Overall, it wasn't that spetacular to look at, but that
didn't matter. It was the fact that the helmet had been Kat's soon after
she had joined. Now that Seth had completed another phase in his life as a
dragonrider by getting airborne, the helmet seemd a good thing to pass
on to her young brother.

 "Thanks Kat. But are you sure you don't want to keep it as a momento
of your early days as a rider?"

 "No Seth. I think it is a befitting memento to pass onto you. I wore it
my first year a-dragonback. And I fought my first wraith in it. Now I want
you to have it. Besides, I think my head is too big for it now," Kat adds
with a smile.

 Seth laughs and says, "And I thought it was me you thought was developing
a big head." Kat laughs herself, since it was only recently that she had
thought of Seth in such a way.

 After Seth trys the helmet on, and shows it to Alizarine, he reminds his
sister that she had yet to tell him about the encounter with the wraiths
earlier today. When Kat finished the story, Seth said he needed to leave
because Alizarine insisted he needed oiling. As Kat watched her brother
leave, she wondered if Liz really needed oiling, or if the whole thing
was just a ploy so the two could get out and get some more air time in
before dinner.

 After Seth left, Kat had some time to herself. Azure decided to taking a
predinner nap. So Kat decided to do a bit of work on her jewelry. Earlier
she had heard that Lonnie had picked out one of her pieces from his
parent's shop to give to Madyllin. Kat had been thirlled that one of her
pieces had
been chosen. Lately, Kat had not done much with her jewelry. And that was
too bad since she enjoyed her craft work as much as she enjoyed being a rider.
So she sat at her desk, took out her tools, her materials, and set to work.

Jumping ahead.

Day 4(morning)
The entrance to Cleft.

 Kat stood by Seth as she waved to her mother, father, and sister as they
moved off in the family wagon. Katrina had a mix of emotions at her family's
departure. She was sad to see her mom and sister go. Especially her sister,
since Kat felt she had grown closer to Serina since her ordeal. As for her
father, Kat was relieved to some extent to see him go. For there was still
a rift between them. However, it wasn't as large as it had been before. And
it was from that change, that Kat was also sad to see Samuel leave. For the
two of them could use some more time to help better things between them. The
chance to do so however would not be coming any time soon, since Samuel
would be preoccupied doing 'the biz.' Tess had said she would return in a
month though for Seth's thirteenth birthday. As for Serina, she hadn't said
yes or no. But Kat figured after the unpleasentnesses she experienced here,
she might not want to return too soon.

 Once the wagon was out of sight, Seth left for training, and Kat decided
to get in some target practice with her daggers before she was needed
elsewhere. She liked to keep up on that skill, just like she did with her
jewelry. On her way to the range though, she changed direction and decided
to go to the hatching grounds to look at Ayesha's clutch. Since yesterday
she hadn't gotten around to doing that. She also reminded herself to give a
congratulations to Meena and Farr'in on the new addition to their family
which had also occured yesterday.

(Afternoon. Also Day 4)
Upper green

 Seth reaches into the small bag he is holding for another item. He
quickly palms a small feather without letting Alizarine see it.

 <Are you ready Liz? Let's try again>.

 <Do we have to? We have been at this mind excercise forever. I think
we should work on some more flying techniques>.

 <We have only been at this for fifteen minutes, not forever. We've spent
longer then this on our other training lessons. Besides, Kat thinks this
is a good idea. She always reminds me to start small and work up. And
besides, I think this is kind of a fun way to prepare for teleporting. I
hold an item, mentally send the image to you, and you tell me what it is>.

 The young red/purple knowing his rider isn't going to be swayed, sighs
and says, <Ok. But I want to pick an item this time. Not from your bag
though. You close your eyes and I'll find something around here>.

 <Alright>, replies Seth as he covers his eyes with his hands.

 After Liz tells Seth not to peek, he looks around. A draconian smile
spreads across Liz's face and he grabs a near and rather unconventional
item... his tail.  After he tells Seth he is ready, he sends an images
slightly altered to spoof his rider.

 Seth concentrates on trying to gather what Liz's image is. <Uhm, you
know your not too clear Liz. Is it a red ribbon>?

 <Nope>!!

 <A red vine? A strip of leather? A weed?>

<Nope>, replies Liz to all of Seth's answers.

 Seth breaks his concentration, tells Alizarine he gives up, and opens
his eyes. As Seth open his eyes, Alizarine quickly drops his tail and
trys to look innocent.

 With a tone of antagonism in his mindvoice Seth says, <Your Tail!! That..
That.. That was the most...>  Liz looks at the ground with remorse as he
waits for his rider's final words.

 Seth finishes with, <That was the most... The most.. hilarious thing you
have done in a while>!!

 At Seth's words, Alizarine brings his head up with a look of draconian
surprise on his face. As he does so, he sees his rider burst out laughing
and topple over with mirth! The red/purple soon joins in with his own form
laughter. Which consists of a bobbing of his head as he makes vocal clicking
noises. The two bondmates continue their moment of joviality without heed to
anything else going on around them.

Afternoon (around the same time).
Dining hall

>Kat? Mind if I join you for a few minutes?

 At seeing Madyllin, Kat wonders what is up. For a brief moment Kat thinks
to herself,*Could it be about Seth. Ehgads if it is! What has he done now!*

>The dark-haired rider nodded and Madyllin pulled out a chair and sat
>down. First off, I want to tell you how much I love the figurine you
>made of Ayesha. It's absolutely magnificent. I just love it!

>Kat smiled. "I'm glad to hear that. It's always nice to hear."

>Good. That brings me to the second thing... Cynthia would like to make
>Seth - and Dan'yar's twins - couriers until they're old enough to fly in
>a wing. I will be handling their responsibilities. Do you know where I
>can find Seth to tell him?

 Briefly, before answering, Kat considerd the idea of Seth as a courier.
She was of course apprehensive at her brother going off on such jobs. But
the boy had often done such things for Samuel before he joined. Of course,
Seth never was allowed to go too far then. He had however, recently shown
that he could be responsible when he had gone with Madyllin to court. In
addition, a job as courier could help Seth with his continued frustration
at wanting to prove himself and to do something for the warren now that
he was a part of it. So Kat was happy at the idea. And she was pretty
sure Seth would do good at this new job. Once Kat finished her thoughts
about Seth, she asked Azure where the boy was.

 <He is rolling on the ground on the upper green laughing about LIz's
tail. Why he is doing so? I have no idea>, replied the iridescent blue.

 Kat tried not to let such an image of Seth and Liz distract her, or
alter how she would reply to Madyllin.

 Calmly Kat said,"Azure says Seth and Alizarine are on the upper green.
Would you like me to call him down here, or would you like to go to him?
Either way, I can have Azure tell Alizarine to tell Seth."

All: Took me longer to get this out then I wanted to. But I've been doing
more reading then writing lately. It doesn't help that I work in a library.
Ah so many books, so little time! <BG>
 Also, Hope I got the days right here.

Katrina: Seth will be over his fit of merriment by the time Maddy finds
him, or he comes to her.

Barb: You mentioned about Seth meeting Dan'yar's twins(or twin) since he
has yet to meet them(her). If you wish, you can have either of them(her) come
upon him in his stage of mirth before he is found, or he goes to Maddy. It
might be an interesting meeting. Seth would probably end up being
embarrassed, but he'll try to cover it well since he wouldn't want a girl
to think him foolish.<G>  And I could have fun writing his part in that
situation. Drop
me an e-mail, or tag me if you decide to have the twins(twin) meet him at this
time. But if you have something else in mind for the meeting that is fine.
