[Late Evening - Day 1]
{SNIP}
"I don't understand this," she told him.
"You think I do?" he asked, standing up and walking over to the wall to
lean against it, facing away from her. "I *swore* I'd never be like
M'del...gods, if I were asked to, I'd swear it right now! I don't feel
any
attraction to Andahar, or any other man...crossjoined or no! But
something
happened....over there at the Nomad encampment...when I got back from
locating Arly and Leyean, I went into the tent we were sharing, and all
of a
sudden...something hit me....and the next thing I knew, we
were...kissing!"
"So he came on to you, and you..."
"No!!!" Trevor cried. "I did!!! Gods help me, I don't know why, but
I was the one who started it!"
He turned to face her. "I don't know why," he repeated. "I wasn't
drinking, if that's what you're thinking. Maybe I *am* going crazy,
just
like M'del." He clenched his fist, and slapped it into his palm. "I
want
you, more than anything!" he told her passionately. "Looking at you
drives
me crazy...with lust, yes, but with love too! But...after what I
did...gods,
do I even have the right to want you?"
{END SNIP}
Cynthia looked at him, and she could feel her expression soften,
"Trevor, you have every right to want me." She crossed the empty space
between them and drew him into an embrace, "You're not M'del, and I
doubt that you're going crazy."
"You sound so sure," he countered.
"I am," Cynthia replied with a wry smile. "Part of what drove M'del was
Raveshon. Their personalities brought out the worst in the other. You,
on the other hand, have Triss."
Trevor smiled slightly, "Trissana, queen of the world."
"I can't even picture it. Can you?"
Trevor chuckled, "Just barely, but I have to try very hard."
"Neither of us is perfect," Cynthia said in a serious tone, "For a long
time I let duty and responsibility come between me and other people. My
position became who I was. Then I met you. We both know that this
isn't going to be easy."
"We've always known that."
"And it isn't likely to get any easier."
"No, it isn't," Trevor agreed.
"Perhaps there's some latent attraction between you and Andahar. YOu
know my theory..."
"I do, and Triss certainly likes Bohoc."
"And Bohoc seems to get along very well with most of the females at the
Warren."
"He certainly does."
"And who knows," Cynthia shrugged with a playful grin on her face,
"perhaps, someday we'll be one big happy family."
"Oh?"
"You, me, Andahar, Reain..."
"Maybe," Trevor grinned, "but we'd need a bigger ledge."
Cynthia laughed, "Now, it seems to me that you're over dressed."
"Am I?" Trevor asked, and their lips melted together as Cynthia worked
to remove Trevor's shirt.

[Day 2 - Morning]
Cynthia emerged from the bathroom just as Trevor yawned and rolled
over. "G'morning sleepyhead," she said with a smile.
"You're up early," he commented.
"No, you slept late," she countered.
"You wore me out."
Cynthia smiled and kissed him, her still moist hair brushing across his
face.
"You going somewhere?" Trevor asked.
"To the Med Center," Cynthia replied.
"Is there something I should know about?"
"No," Cynthia laughed, "but there is a hatchling that I need to do
something about."
"Mystarria," Trevor nodded, "I would not have expected Saleh to join."
"There was a time you were surprised that you joined," Cynthia replied
as she moved off to begin rummaging through her wardrobe.
"Still am on occation," Trevor replied getting out of bed and walking
across the room to her. He wrapped his arm around her from behind and
kissed her neck.
"Stop that," she said playfully swatting at his head, "I really can't
spend the morning here with you."
"Ok, but I'll see you for breakfast?"
"I'll be there," Cynthia smiled.
Trevor kissed her once more and headed for the bathroom.
*****
[Day 2 - Morning - Med Center]
As Cynthia approached the Med Center carrying a large pail of meat she
could see the hatchling curled up on a pile of straw under a makeshift
canvas tent. The hatchling's steady breathing indicated that she was
sleeping, and Cynthia's approach was not enough to wake her. She put
the pail down near the tent and walked over to the window.
S'lomon was in the room with Saleh examining one of her babies while the
other was busy suckling. For some reason, Saleh looked decidedly
uncomfortable.
"Good morning," Cynthia said.
S'lomon looked over at Cynthia, and then back at Saleh, "How come your
visitors can't come inside like normal people?" he asked with a grin.
"You are here to see me?" Saleh asked with a touch of hostility in her
voice.
"Yes. I'm here to make some arrangements for Mystarria, and I've brough
her breakfast." Cynthia turned to S'lomon, "How long will you be
keeping Saleh here?"
"Just a day or two, but she'll probably need some help with the twins
and hatchling for a bit."
"I'll have to come up with something then."
Cynthia heard a shuffling noise behind her and turned around to find
Mystarria head down in the bucket of food that she'd brought. "Easy
there," Cynthia said pulling the dragon's head from the bucket.
Mystarria looked decidedly unhappy until Cynthia began to hand her
chunks of meat. *Syren, can you ask her to slow down a bit?*
{I can ask,} Syren replied, {but she may not listen.}
*Just ask, please.*
"I remember doing that," Cynthia heard M'yer say as he approached.
"So do I," Cynthia commented with a wry smile. She looked up to see
M'yer, P'ker and Nikol walking toward her, "I never though I'd have to
do it again either."
Mystarria nipped at her and she got another piece of meat from the
bucket for her.
"So what do you have in mind?" Nikol asked.
"Something simple," Cynthia said, "It's only going to be for a couple of
days."
"Ever thought you'd be building a temporary shelter for a dragon?" P'ker
asked Nikol.
The blaster shook his head.
"Neither did we," M'yer agreed.
NRPG:
Bits and pieces, but I started this a week ago and decided to get it
out. There's more to write, and I may get to it later today if we don't
have lightning. (although we need the rain).
Respectfully submitted,
