Anavasha - God of the Healing Winds.
A Dain Anavasha produces physical healing, by taking part of the pain or illness upon the healer, who can then knit or bind wounds together. The effect on the healer is quite traumatic, to the point that it can cause death.
Dra'eell - god of harmony.
Gamal - god of fire (pyrokinesis).
Haliaeen - god of the hunt
Worshipped by the hunter. The symbol is a predatory bird. Those who are thought of as dain Haliaeen are known for their sharp vision, instinct for the hunt, or accuracy with bow and arrow.
Hanan - goddess of mercy (psionic empathy, projecting and receiving)
Hehran - goddess of Healing (healing through touch) and fertility.
The dain Hehran can feel the sensations (but not emotions) of those around them when they touch them and can then heal them. Those touched of her have some level of empathy healing ability. This ability usually takes fatigue or even causes loss of health of the healer. They also may have a sort of physical empathy where they can feel physical sensations of anyone they touch.
Kasmiera - goddess of motherhood
Worshipped for fertility.
Khazeen - Spirit of dry winds / god of underworld.
and Shamir Servant of Khazeen - Demon of fire.
Khazeen is the god who commands the dry winds that blow across the Nomadlands, and Shamir is his servant, who appears as the fires that are blown along by the winds. Khazeen is the Nomad god of the underworld, sort of like Hades or Pluto.
Conversation between Cynthia and Andahar describing these deities: "No one, god or man, has ever proclaimed himself Lord of Nomadlands," Andahar told them. "But I know these names you speak. Jhezrael is evil place, place of imprisonment for souls of Nomads who have displeased deities and have been forever condemned. Gods you speak of are worshiped by tribes, who receive blessings of them. Some are touched by power of gods, and share in it. But Khazeen and Shamir...no tribe worships these, for they bring only disaster.... When hot, dry winds blow across land, scorching grass and drying lake and river, this is Khazeen," Andahar told her. "When winds blow storms of sand that bury both horse and Nomad, this is Khazeen. He is different from true god only in that he has no worshipers...he is Spirit of Dry Winds, from which Nomads must shelter or flee."
...
"Shamir is not dragon, but Spirit of Rushing Fire."
"He sounds more like Gamal," Cynthia remarked. "The God of Fire."
"Gamal is worshiped by Nomads, to whom he gave gift of fire," he said. "But Shamir is not worshiped, for like Khazeen he brings only death. When Khazeen sends hot winds, sometimes grasslands catch fire...this is Shamir. Khazeen gives power to Shamir, his winds sweep fires of Shamir into great storms that consume horse, Nomad, even dragon. Sometimes, though, dragons are seen flying ahead of fire-storms, and so it is said that dragons serve Shamir." [Thanks John!]
Krayel - god of The Animal Tamer
Those touched by this god (and therefore honored as 'dain Krayel') seem to have a special power over animals. Their herds tend to be the largest, strongest and most docile, and are highly sought after in trade. They tend to stay far down in the south of Nomadlands.
Tribal Background: Krayel's tribe was at one time a single unit, with one Chief. However the ever prosperous followers of Krayel with their unique abilities in animal handling soon grew to a number beyond what one unit could successfully maintain without destroying the land they moved about. The Great Chief Nuiki dain Krayel, in the twilight of his years, made the choice to divide the tribe, and his ample herds between his twin sons, Kinsal and Nusal. The brothers swore a pact to each other, that they would be supportive of the other... both in good and in bad times. Every spring, when the rivers were wide, the two would join together for a five day gathering to celebrate their God, to barter supplies, and to find new mates.
Kinsal's half of this tribe was decimated by wraiths just prior to the gathering ... Pua and her son being the only survivors we know about. [Thanks Kris!]
Nareem - god of Medicine (healing through use of aura and medicines)
The dain Nareem can *see* an aura around living beings that tell them when something is wrong with them. The strong ones can also perceive an aura around plants that indicate their medicinal value. The dain Nareem cannot heal directly-- they use medicines to heal.
Rushela - goddess of Death (also called Khasar by Cholmon.)
Saphie - god of good luck and aid.
The dain Saphie is known to provide magic charms that protect their wearer from adversity. These much sought-after charms are sewn into leather pouches and worn to protect the owner.
Shosha - goddess of weavers / spider goddess
Yrathiis - goddess of fear and pain.---
Please note, those individuals labeled dain(eg. Dain Hehran is a healer "touched by Hehran") are believed to have been given their gift from that deity. In reality, the divine gifts are psionic in nature, passed on genetically. Not all members of a tribe, however, are touched of their god.
