(Late morning, forest)
Kylan and Cuprus had awoken very late that day. They had figured
that it would make no sense to go to the place that may or may not accept
them when they were tired. They made a point of taking a while to get
ready and find some food.
They were absentmindedly chomping on charred animal flesh when a
strange look came over Cuprus.
Kylan asked, <What's wrong?>
Cuprus took a while to respond, but finally answered, <A dragon
nearby has just died...>
Kylan snorted, <How is it that you know that?>
<I don't know, I just know.>
Cuprus began to wail into the sky. Kylan felt a deep fear rise up
within him, mainly because he had never seen Cuprus act this way, but also he
didn't know how the townspeople would react to a howling dragon in their
woods.
Kylan bagan to sing a soft lullaby from his childhood, exerting a
small amout of his mental ability to calm Cuprus. When he was calmed,
Cuprus still would not speak for a while.
Cuprus after a while finally spoke, <I felt so sad. I don't
understand it, but I was.>
<It's all right, my winged brother. You just had me worried
there for a while.> After a moments silence he continued, <Hey, I bet a
fly would make you feel better. Lets get this over with.> Cuprus gave
his silent assent, and they were shortly airborne.
Upon arriving at the Warren they were stopped at the gate. The
guard asked, "What is your buisness here."
Kylan responded with, "I seek the Warrenlady of this place. To
seek admittance into it's community." He always got a little bit poetic
in his speech when he was nervous.
The guard said, "The new Warrenlady will see no one at this
time. I will however give the message to her dragon and they will let
you know when you may see her."
Kylan didn't exactly understand, but he had heard that all
dragons were mentally connected somehow so he just nodded and turned on
his heel.
Cuprus said as they were leaving, <I bet it has something to do
with the death of the dragon.>
Kylan couldn't refute that one and just sent back a little mental
nod, and they went to wait.
