[DL-D] Awakening

(In the Med. Center)
Before she even knew she was awake, Dyanisa grabbed the hand on her
wrist and yanked the stranger onto his back. And fell back agaisnt the
pillows as a wave of weakness washed over her. Dyanisa turned her head to
look at her attacker, who was still sitting on the floor. Gray green eyes
in a balding head stared back at her, surprised. She nodded her head at him
and closed her eyes.
Dyanisa heard him get up, muttering to himself. <<Sienra, are you
all right?>> she sent.
<Dya!...Of course I am, are you?> returned her happy dragon.
<<I think I'll survive.>> Then her curiousity kicked in. <<Are you
getting enough to eat, 'Ra? Where are you? And for that matter, where am I?>>
There was a pause. <Yes. At Amadith's. The Medical Center.
Anything else?>
<<No, I'll let you know if there is, love.>> Dyanisa opened her
eyes again. The same man she'd thrown on the floor was standing at the foot
of the bed trying to decide whether or not to approach her. She smelled
soup and realized she was possitively ravenous. Dyanisa propped herself up
on the pillows and motioned her to come towards her, with the soup.
It was delicious, even if she could taste the medication. When
she'd finished, he took the bowl and sat down on the side of the bed.
"My name is Herin," he said, watching her closely.
She opened her mouth, trying to remember the words.
"I...am Dyanisa," she said at last. "No...speak good...not
speak...time?" Helplessly, Dyanisa appealed to Herin with her eyes. He
nodded, he understood.
It had been so long since she'd really spoken. She'd known her
family so well that talking wasn't necessary, a glance or a gesture would
say everything that needed to be said. Even with Snink and Rosy, speach had
only been an encumberance, slowing down communication. Surprisingly, she
realized she hadn't spoken a true sentence since she was six.
A door shut, drawing her attention. A black haired woman, wearing
yellow shirt, had arrived and was talking with Herin. Dyanisa almost
disregarded them, until they started coming her way.
NRPG: Barb, you get to write the meeting, but the only way you'll
probably get anything out of Dyanisa is if you do dragon relay. Unless, of
course, you *like* talking in monosyllables:)
