[DL-D] Resemblance

**Dyanisa**
She sighed as she heard the door open.
"Dyanisa?" Jadain asked softly.
"Coming.. " she said, carefully standing up. She heard him walk across
the room and obligingly held out her hand, hating the necessity of it.
He took her hand and led her out of the room, to the dining hall,
chatting, relating the gossip Sienra had already told her to fill the
silence.
She could tell when the entered the dining hall simply because it became
a lot harder to hear her young companion. She stuck close to him as he
carefully led her around the diners to an empty table. Or at least she
thought it was empty until her foot brushed against another foot.
"Dyanisa, meet Healer Dryan Hymnov," Jaidan introduced politely. "Mr.
Hymnov meet Dyanisa."
Healer Dryan Hymnov? A healer for her? Gods how humiliating...
"Pleased to meet you," a pleasant voice addressed her after a brief
akward pause.
Dyanisa gave a start and managed a clipped "Yes," quickly thrusting out
her hand for him to shake. She blushed as he tapped it over a couple of
inches before shaking it. She was surprised at how big his hand felt
and had a slightly frightening thought of him crushing her fingers in
his grip, her bones poping and cracking.
"You can let go of my hand now," he said softly.
Her hand flew open and was quickly drawn back into her lap, but not
before her elbow knocked a glass of water and sent it crashing to the
floor.
**Dryan**
Dryan winced sympathetically as he watched her hang her head, a dusky
blush coloring her cheeks. He wondered again how the hell he had let
his fellow healers talk him into this. It was only the precense of the
boy that kept him from coming right out and telling this woman that
looked so much like his Adie but wasn't that he would find her some one
else.
"I'll go find a broom or something," the boy said helpfully and ran off.
He sighed in relief and spoke. "Look, Dyanisa..." he trailed off for an
instant as he looked at her still red face and deep blue green eyes.
Dryan sighed helplessly, he couldn't just ditch her.. she needed him.
"Dyanisa," he started again, getting up from his chair and moving to
stand beside her, avoiding the glass shards and puddle. "Hold up your
hands please."
He waited as she turned towards him and offered her slender hands to
him. He gently enclosed her thin wrists in his hands and guided them to
his face, trying hard not to burst into tears. Adie had had the exact
same hands, slender graceful, calloused with work... He closed his
eyes, and touched her fingers to his rough cheeks.
"My name is Dryan, though it would please me if you felt comfortable
enough to call me Dray. I am--Go ahead, look at my face with your
hands. You should know what I look like since we're going to be
spending a lot of time together. I'm going to be your teacher, not your
slave or servant and I will only be your teacher if you try to help
yourself."
He opened his eyes as her fingers left his face.
"I would like to live in the same residence as you, since I can't teach
you many things if I don't."
"I understand," Dyanisa said softly.
"Not totally... I have a baby girl named Kerrie and she would have to
live with us of course."
"Of course.. I don't think I'll have a problem with that.. I like
children."
Dray smiled at her, it was obvious she was more at ease now. At that
moment Jadain returned with a kitchen worker and he took the moment to
study his patient. Gods the resemblance to Addie was amazing... Oh,
Addie's hair and been a bit browner with no white streak and her eyes
had been bluer, not to mention his beloved had been a bit more.. curvy,
but it was hard not to embrace Dyanisa and start crying.
"Dyanisa," Jadain piped up once the mess was dealt with. "Are you going
to the trial tomorrow?"
"Trial?" Dryan asked, returning to his seat.
He watched Dyanisa frown slightly as she said, "Explain it to him,
Jadain."
After listening to the boy explain the whole situation, he could well
understand the frown.
"Would you like to go, Dray?" Dyanisa asked out of nowhere.
"I have to admit, this wasn't what I expected to be occuring at a
warren. But I'm curious and I'm sure there will be enough room for one
more person don't you?" Dray addressed the last to the boy with a
smile.
"All right," Dyanisa said, missing the look. "We'll look for a new
apartment after then since I don't have enough room in my old one."
"Its a deal," he said. His stomach choose at that moment to gurgle
loudly.
"I think we should get some food and your stomach seems to agree," she
said, standing up and offering him her arm. "Shall we?"
Dray barely managed a smile as he took her arm and led her off to the
food.
