[DL-D] Of strange men and dragons

NRPG: Sorry folks... new to this... just forgot to put in the [DL-D] the
first time. Please forgive me!
*******************************************************************
NRPG: On the outskirts of the town, by somebody's farm at dusk.
***********************Nrocinu***************************
The two men didn't appear to be armed, but they seemed threatening enough
in the fading light. Nrocinu couldn't understand their speech, aside from
the occasional word.

"..... hurt....." the word, the only one he understood in all of it, sent
off alarms in the young man's head. Fear and confusion abounded in his
heart and that and instinct are the guides for his actions. Adding to his
confusion is the fact that he isn't sensing the same feelings from
Fae'Rhee, who is preoccupied with some strange beasts with immense wings.
Instead he reads her as feeling a sense of wonder and beauty.... if not for
a sense of fear in with the rest, a sensation that really didn't make sense
with the rest, it might even include an aura of contentment.

<WHAT IS GOING ON??? I DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!> His mind reeled, and yet he
received no reply from his other half, just a continuation of the same
feelings he felt from her before. Nrocinu does the only thing he knows how
to do and he feints with his dagger, his one prized possession.

The men in front of him, dressed in their strange manner and smelling not
at all right, still continued with their strange speech and gestures. Still
they make no move to attack. In fact, the tone of the voices is somewhat
calming and Fae'Rhee does not appear to be in distress either in action or
thought.

Suddenly there is an unexpected commotion accompanied by a scream... The
scream of his beloved Fae'Rhee! Acting out of fear and protective instinct,
Nrocinu lunges at the nearest target, the man who was doing most of the
talking. He feels his fist holding the dagger meet the flesh of the man,
and sees his dagger buried to the hilt in the man's side. His panic is
overwhelming... <WHAT HAVE I DONE???

***********************Fae'Rhee************************
The light is dim, the beasts that they were going to catch within the area
of the sticks were long forgotten by both of them, and Nrocinu was busy
with... something, something unsettling... but Fae'Rhee was too preoccupied
with observing the new beasts in the glade to pick up on what the trouble
could be. They were magnificent creatures and the one thought echoing in
her mind was, <Pretty!>

<Why, thank you!> came the unexpected response resounding though her head.

<What? Who is this? This isn't Nrocinu... I know him and this isn't him!
Show yourself to me, whoever you are!> Fear starts to encroach on her other
feelings even more.

Suddenly there is a loud flapping sound and the gray creature is suddenly
beside her. Fae'Rhee screams, startled, but in an instant she is blanketed
with a sensation of comfort. She looks up into the most beautiful blue eyes
she has ever seen and senses an intelligence within them.

<You, you are the one who can hear me???> she asks the great winged beast.

<But of course, we dragons do that. Usually with only one person, but then,
what is usual when it comes to dragons, or humans for that matter?>

<Dragons???> Fae'Rhee sounds the new word out in her mind, <Is that what
nature of beast you are?>

<Yes, and you are human... and a human with a very strong dragon affinity
at that, else we would not be talking so.>

<Human? I am Fae'Rhee!> she protests.

<And I am Sinia>, the dragon appears to chuckle, <What would you call your
mate?>

<Nrocinu>

Sinia nuzzles Fae'Rhee, her new friend, and Fae'Rhee responds by stroking
the nose of the gentle dragon. The whole discourse must have taken but a
few brief seconds because suddenly both the dragon and the female were
drawn to the commotion taking place nearby. Neither of them are aware that
they are the cause of it all.

One of the strangers is standing holding Nrocinu's dagger, and he is
bleeding from the side. Nrocinu is sprawled on the ground, but by all
appearances is unharmed.

<NROCINU!!! WHAT DID YOU DO???> Fae'Rhee demands of her mate.

<I, I thought... you screamed...> He looks with confusion at the site of
Fae'Rhee and the great beast interacting affectionately with each other,
<What the hell are you doing with that, that thing???>

<That *thing* is a dragon, and it is called Sinia>

<Dragon???>

<Hello, Nrocinu...> said a new voice in his mind.

Fear washes over the wild man anew. He is aware of the calming influence of
his beloved, but also feels another soothing presence as well.

Sinia addresses the feral couple, "We need to get to the warren... it is
where we live... Tair'n is hurt, needs help. You will be hunted, you must
come with us."

<<HUNTED???>> The singular question resounded fearfully from both the man
and the woman. Hunting was the one thing that they understood, having
survived by doing so for so long. Now they were the hunted.

<Yes,> Sinia answered them both, <That is why we were sent out here...>

<To catch us???> asked Fae'Rhee.

<They will hurt us!> protested Nrocinu.

<No, I will explain that it was an accident... I am sure that Tair'n
realizes that as well... in his own way. It will be all right. But we need
to go.>

<How do we get to this warren?> Fae'Rhee asks.

<Why, we fly.>

<Fly!> Fae'Rhee echoed, and started her blissful game of spinning and
dancing with her arms stretched out.

<Yes, and it is even more wonderful than you can imagine> replied Sinia,
playing on the woman's emotions.

The other dragon landed by the injured man, who was apparently named
Tair'n, and he got on it. The other man came over and climbed on Sinia's
back, he held out an outstretched hand and Fae'Rhee looked puzzled.

<Take his hand, he'll pull you up. Hurry, we have to get Tair'n to the
warren.>

Fae'Rhee looks anxiously to her mate.

<Tair'n will bring Nrocinu on Amadith, he will not be left behind. But it
is not safe for either of you here. Hurry!>

Fae'Rhee accepts the proffered hand and is lifted to the back of the gray
dragon. Suddenly they are up in the air and she clinging with all her might
to the strange man in front of her. The sensation is exhilarating, and
Fae'Rhee laughs out loud in glee.

Nrocinu looks in confusion as his mate takes off into the sky on the
dragon, along with the uninjured man. The hurt man was likewise holding out
his hand and pulled the confused Nrocinu up into the saddle on the back of
the blue dragon behind him.

"Hang on," the man told the frightened little man. When all he saw was fear
and questions on the dirty face of the man, Tair'n placed the mans arms
about his own waist, "Like this."

They rose from the ground and the man named Tair'n surprised Nrocinu by
handing him his dagger, his beloved father's dagger! Nrocinu takes the
dagger and quickly puts it in his belt.

NRPG: At the warren
****************************************************************************

The ride to the warren terrified the poor Nrocinu. He could not understand
why his mate, his beloved Fae'Rhee, was acting the way she was. Here she
was dancing about arms outstretched crooning in delight, "La! La!" in her
pretend game of flight. Nrocinu was just glad to have his feet firmly
planted on the ground.

But here they are in this strange enclosure. There are other men... and
women... everywhere, darting about, all of them dressed strangely and
smelling even more queer. The man who was hurt, Tair'n, was rushed off into
another enclosure by several of the people.

Nrocinu didn't know what to do. So, ill at ease, he crouched in the corner
and waited.

Fae'Rhee, still caught up in the ecstasy of her first flight on a dragon,
continued her play at flying.
