[DL-D] Solutions and Problems

>Several minutes went by before there was a knock at the door and
>the two women in question walked in looking somewhat apologetic.
>It didn't stop her anger one bit.
>
>"May I remind the two of you that as Queen rider's you are not to
>leave this Warren without letting someone know where you are
>going? " she said in a low voice barely containing her anger.
>"If anything were to happen to them... to yourselves..."
>
>"Jayleigh we're sorry..." Maeve started to say and then Rezsia
>spoke up where she left off.
>
>"We just had a few things to discuss with each other, and we felt
>we needed to do it away from here."
>
>"Regardless, of your reasons why, did either of you stop to think
>about what I might be going through when I got back and found a note telling
>me about wraiths attacking and then could find no one here
>to tell me what in the hell was going on?" she stood up from behind
>her desk, planted both hands on top of the desk and stared at them.
>
>"Didn't you think I just *might* be a little worried about wraiths attacking
>so close to the Warren? Or concerned that any of our
>rider's might have been injured."
>
>"Tair'n was here, you could have asked..."
>
>"It wasn't Tair'n's job to keep me informed," she snapped, cutting
>the girl off. "I'm suppost to be able to rely on the two of you
>to look after things for me when I have to be away from here."
>
>Maeve looked miserable, and it was then that Jayleigh remembered
>Troy telling her that the younger girl's Queen had also risen to
>mate yesterday. It must have been before she had arrived back at
>the Warren herself.
>
>"Jayleigh, if you want to blame someone then blame me," Rezsia was
>saying. "I'm the one who should have been here waiting for you to
>return... What with Krith rising.."
>
>"You're right. You should have been," she looked over at Maeve who
>had her head bowed. "I'd forgotten that Viktroy had told me Krith
>had also risen."

"But that isn't what you called Rezsia and me in about, is it? No, it's
because I took a stroll down to the lake alone, and the only person who knew
where I was wasn't the one you talked to!" Maeve said, angrily.

Jayleigh's eyes darkened at that statement.

"You had no reason to leave this warren without at least notifying me or one
of the wingleaders of your absence. . ."

"Krith was right here, anyone who needed to know would, if they just took
the time to ask!" Maeve shouted. "I don't see why I have to tell everybody
where I am just because of which dragon I ride."

>After they were dismissed by the warrenlady (who said some pretty harse
>words), they decided to stay together for a while. Rezsia told Maeve about
>her conversation earlier with Lord Gossimor, and about how she had given
>Tair'n the assignment, of sorts, to find out what was going on.

"Ghosts?" Maeve asked.

"I think there's someone, or maybe a group, hiding out in those fields.
Possibly more of those refugees from what's left of Feldrik's empire,"
Rezsia suggested.

"Maybe we can go out there later, I might as well start bumming rides off
people," Maeve said.

"I'd take you."

"Thanks."
>
>"Right now," she said, sighing, "I wish I had been the one who had gone to
>see what the problem was. Not that I didn't like our little chat, but right
>now I'm rather bored."
>
>She turned to Maeve and saw an evil grin beginning to spread on the younger
>queenrider's face. Following her gaze, Rezsia turned and saw Ja'ks walking
>toward them. A slow grin spread across Rezsia's face as she glanced at
>Maeve, who nodded as they headed toward Ja'ks.
>
>"Good afternoon Ja'ks," Maeve said cheerfully, smiling at the wingleader.
>
>"Hello Ja'ks," Rezsia stated, smiling slightly.
>
>Ja'ks looked slightly surprised to see the two of them and replied, "Good
>afternoon ladies."

"You wanted to talk to us?" Maeve asked.

"Actually, Maeve, I wanted to talk to you about this morning," Ja'ks started.

"I didn't say anything then I didn't mean," she stalled, looking at the hurt
on Rezsia's face. "I don't understand why you want to talk about that at
all, and I'd like to find out what's going on about Lord Gossimor's ghosts."

"I wish you would stay. I wish you both would stay," Ja'ks said.

"I'm worried about what's going on with those ghosts. They may be someone
who needs our help, and I'd like to be there when they find out."

"Are you going to need a ride?" he asked.

"Actually, I think I already have one," Maeve said, grinning at Rezsia.

"You sure do," Rezsia replied.

"Just a short check, Ja'ks. Tell your sister we'll be back by sunset."

Rezsia called her dragon over, and they flew over to the town where Tair'n
and W'roan were investigating the reports. A short conversation with W'roan
told them that the "ghosts" were never seen in daylight, and that he and
Tair'n would be staying into the night.

Both Rezsia and Maeve were disappointed as they headed back to the warren
and their separate ways.
