Maeve returned from her trip with Rezsia and decided to go to her apartment.
Something seemed to be totally wearing her down, and she wasn't sure what.

*Krith, are you okay?*

<Yes, just waiting for my children to lay on the sand.>

*As am I, dear heart.*

She entered her bedroom, and slipped into a nightgown. As she lay down on
the soft bed, unbidden thoughts of her previous night surfaced. Maeve
wished it was possible for them to both share him, but somehow that didn't
seem possible. She fell asleep thinking about the Beta wingleader, and not
all her dreams were pleasant.

[the next morning]

"No, you can't have him," she screamed, snapping awake. Her dreams had kept
her all night, most were very close to nightmares. Rezsia and her fighting
over the man they both loved. Something had to be done. This was the one
person she had let in in so long, and now, he was being taken away from her.

Maeve dressed and found her way to the dining hall, and Ja'ks.

She quickly served herself breakfast, and sat next to the man she loved.

"Ja'ks?" she said, quietly.

"Hmm?"

"I said some things yesterday that I'm not sure I meant," she tried.

"You don't mean yesterday morning wasn't real, do you?" he asked, looking
surprised.

"I meant every word I said, Ja'ks. Except for Rezsia. You're the first
person who's been able to make me feel like this in so long, I don't know
what to say."

"Then don't say anything," Ja'ks said, covering her mouth with a firm kiss
as she tried to object.

[Tag, Barb, Sarah!]

It was lunchtime when she and Ja'ks finally parted company, and Maeve felt
as if she had betrayed both her feelings and her friend.

She wandered almost aimlessly around the warren, ending up for some reason
in the med center. Maeve hadn't been there since her parents had suffered
their misfortunes, but the place seemed unchanged. She almost expected to
see her parents lying on two of the beds, riddled with wraithburns.
Instead, she saw a woman who was the spitting image of her sister.

"Carly?" Maeve cried, hoping that it truly was. But as the woman turned
around, she saw that her eyes were green, not blue. The woman was a dead
ringer, almost.

The woman who looked like her sister seemed wild, almost as if she was going
to bolt at any time.

Something sparked as Maeve stared into the woman's green eyes. She must be
one of the "ghosts" that Tair'n and W'roan found. The one whose mate had
stabbed Tair'n. Someone had told her the female, at least, was telepathic.

*Krith, can you come here?*

<Ok,> the dragon groaned.

Maeve watched as her dragon half walked half flew over to the entrance of
the med center.

*Can you talk to her?* Maeve asked, as soon as Krith's moaning ceased.

<Of course!> she replied smugly.

*Then will you introduce us.*

The dragon assented, and a relayed conversation began to emerge.
