D'aivy and Pocomb brought Maeve back to the warren and straight to her
apartment.  He carefully excused himself, and Maeve turned all her attention
to her dragon.

The burnished bronze queen looked slightly upset, but was overjoyed that her
rider was back.

*Krith!* Maeve exclaimed.

<You are not hurt?> the dragon asked.

*Not really,* Maeve replied as she picked up an oil rag and started
polishing her dragon's hide.

<You are tired.  Go to sleep.>

*But you need me!*

<I need you healthy more than I need your attentions.>

*Darn dragon!*

Maeve finished oiling Krith, and went into her bathroom to change for bed.

When she came out, Ja'ks was standing in the doorway, waiting for her.

"Kitten, are you all right?" he asked.

"Sure.  I'm just tired.  Those jerks made it impossible for me to sleep,"
she replied.

Ja'ks sat on the bed, and Maeve settled in his lap.  She ran her fingers
through his hair and realized how much she loved him.  It seemed to her that
he was her other half, and maybe their dragons had known all along.

"I love you," she whispered in his ear.

Maeve fell asleep at that point, and didn't wake up when Ja'ks got up to
take care of some business.

Later, Maeve woke up, and found herself lying on her bed where Ja'ks had
moved her.  She was scared out of her mind, as her dreams had been reruns of
her experiences within The Stands.

She looked around, wondering where the guards were, then she remembered.
Ja'ks.  How could she ever survive without him.

Maeve quickly got dressed, and asked Krith to relay to Ja'ks that she was
heading to the dining hall for a meal.

She was almost shocked to fing out that it was morning.
