DL-D: "Misery loves company"

>"But what if he doesn't come back? If I loose him......" Jason could tell
he wasn't getting through to her.

>"Now stop that Marialla" he told her sharply, her head jerking up in
response to his tone. "Don't you think your being a little selfish here?"

>She looked at him blankly. "Are you the only one who risks loosing someone
they care for? This doesn't just affect you, Mari, it affects everyone."

>"He didn't have to go" she said fiercely, "someone else could have taken
his place."

>"Would T'rell do that?" Jason asked her pointedly. "Would he sit here
while others went and died? You know that's not who he is." She stayed silent.

>"Look, I'm not saying that you shouldn't worry about him. Just remember
that you aren't the only person praying that they return safely." Jason
stood up. "You also have a young dragon worried about you at the moment."
He walked off, leaving Marialla alone with her thoughts.

She knew he was right. It wasn't helping her to be sitting there full of
self pity. She had watched when all the riders took flight. Father,
mothers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, and lovers.
She definately wasn't alone in her worry. She watched as Ar'Aman left with
the group and was sure that Kayla was feeling the same way. Probably even
worse. Not only was her mate gone, but so was the man she considered her
father here at Daere.

She prayed to the gods that there would be few loses. She prayed that
all who were important to her and her friends would be safe and would return.

She thought about what had happened to this warren since she had arrived.
Then her thoughts again turned toward the death of her friend Danika, and
to R'ven. She prayed that he'd be careful. She knew how she had felt
after the death of her family and knew that she had been careless in her
actions.

She decided that she needed to talk to Kayla. Her worry had turned
toward R'ven and she knew that Kayla knew him much better than her. Maybe
her worry was for nothing but she had to find out.

As she left the dining hall and headed to Kayla's apartment she continued
to think about what Jason had said to her. She knew he was right. She
could not have expected T'rell to stay behind. He would of been filled
with guilt and would have blamed himself for any losses.

But her dreams haunted her. Danika's voice saying they'd all be with her
soon. What if it was true. But what was soon in death. She shook the
thought from her mind.

<Mari, don't think about the dream. Fluffy said his rider told him that
dreams were caused by an over active imaginations and stress.>

*Dear Reggie, I hope that Fluffy's rider is right. But I know that
sometimes dreams can be premonitions and that's what haunts me. But there
is nothing I can do about it if it's a premonition. So I've decided to
stop worrying about it. I'm going to visit with Kayla for a bit and then
I'll be home to oil you.*

<Oh, Mari, that would be so wonderful. I am a little itchy.>

*Well I won't be long.* she said to her Queen as she entered Kayla's
apartment.

<Reg? Did you say you were itchy? I could ask my rider to come and oil
you.> Fluffy said offerring his services any way he could.

<Thank you, Fluff...but I'll wait for my rider. We need some time
together. I need to do something to keep her mind busy so her imagination
isn't so over active like your rider said.>

<Okay, if you think that's best. But what do you want to do until your
rider gets back?>
