DL-D: Pleading for Mercy

>The two friends looked at each other and then started towards the kitchen
door.
"I wouldn't go in there if I was you!" Norin chuckled after them. "You two
might end up not seeing the light of day any time soon."
"We'll take out chances."
Once inside they weren't to sure. Realee didn't look to happy to see them,
nor did any of the others on the kitchen staff.
"I know you two weren't involved in the mess this morning so I don't see
any reason for you to stay here," Realee told them when she'd stopped
before them. "But if you decide to stay then you can help your friends out."
"I'll stay," Kayla spoke up. "At least if I'm here doing something them I
won't keep worrying about Ari all the time. Mari... what about you?"
>
"Wait a minute, Realee. You're not punishing them because of what their
dragons did this morning? Because if you are, it's totally my fault." Mari
said in protest.
"Mari, it's nice to see you trying to defend your friends, but your Queen
wasn't in on this mess so how can you be to blame?" Realee asked.
"Can I explain it to you over a cup of coffee? It's utterly rediculous,
but it is my fault. You can't even blame the dragonettes."
"Well I'll listen, but these riders aren't off the hook yet, so they can do
some of these dishes while I take time to hear this story."
Mari poured the older lady a cup of coffee and one for herself and took a
seat across from her at the family table. She wanted to protest the fact
that she was punishing her friends before the truth be known, but she could
see by Realee's stance that she was in no mood for and arguement.
"After I left here this morning, I walked over to the barracks. I just
needed to feel close to T'rell. I sat down on his bed and before I knew
it, I was asleep. I began to dream, so pretty awful dreams and Reggie was
unable to wake me. She was reading my dreams as reality and got scared
that I was in danger, so she called her friends to help. And you know the
rest of the story. So it's really my fault, if I hadn't wandered off and
left Reggie alone, this would of never happened."
"Well, fine then. You can join your friends. If they would of paid
attention to their dragons then the problem still wouldn't have occurred."
Realee said. "But yes, you definately belong in there with them. And if
you're going to be in the kitchen, I guess I can take the night off. I
haven't had one of those in awhile. I'll be back later to check to see how
things are going."
Realee got up and walked out through the kitchen to the back door. Mari
was upset that her friends were being punished for something she felt was
her fault. She got up slowly from the table.
"I told you it didn't pay to be such a goody two shoes, Marialla. Even a
Queen rider is in trouble." Norin said as she laughed.
Mari tried to ignore her. The punishment wasn't really punishment to her.
She would get to work in the kitchen, which she loved. But she hated the
fact that her friends were being punished when she felt it wasn't their
faults.
"I'm sorry," Mari said as she entered the kitchen. "I tried. I know it's
not your fault, it's mine."
"Hey, that's alright, Mari." said Allora, "We'll just have to have fun
while we work. You have to admit. Our dragons work well together. Maybe
someday it will be constuctive work and not destructive."
They all laughed.
Jason walked over to the door and looked out. "Hey we're lucky to be
inside right now anyway. It's snowing. Looks pretty heavy. "
"Well it doesn't really surprize me." Mari said. "I could feel it in the
air this morning. The way the wind whipped across the cliff edge. It just
felt like snow was on the way."
"Hey you guys, enough with the weather talk. I'm sure we can find
something a little more interesting to talk about." Said Allora, trying to
liven up the party a bit.
