[DL-D] No Sleeping Allowed

[Day 9 afternoon.........]
[T'rell's office.....]
"Good you're still here," Ja'ks said dryly as he entered T'rell's office and
slumped down in the seat on the far side of the desk, without bothering to
wait for an invitation.
T'rell looked up then frowned when he noticed the Beta Wingleader's hands
were empty.
"What... no good morning T'rell here's your coffee?"
"When you deserve it I bring it," Ja'ks commented. "This visit doesn't
warrant a good deed."
"You're here to talk about what happened what happened with Des and Puss up
there last night."
"Yes I am," Ja'ks told him. "Now you know I've been behind this new Wing of
yours from the start and I've always thought it was a good idea. But I got
to tell you I'm not sure about some of the members you've included in the Wing."
"Look Ja'ks... Kayla might be a bit of a risk taker but she's a damn fine
rider and I think she'll do fine in the Wing. Quit acting like an over
protective big brother out to save his sister virginity!"
"I'm not talking about Kayla," Ja'ks snorted. "That one can take care of
herself... proved it last night with the insane rescue attempt."
"Then it's got to be Puss you're in an uproar about? T'rell leaned back in
his chair to get comfortable for what was coming.
"Hell yes like Puss," Ja'ks frowned, his voice a bit stronger then his
normal easy tone. "I don't think she's going to be up to the demands you've
placed on the members of this win. For one thing she's been gone awhile and
hasn't had much time to practice with any of the wings... that showed last
night when the collision happened. Her lack of experience could have killed
another rider!"
"Yes it could have," T'rell agreed amicably. "But that's why we need to keep
them all together and run these practice runs. So they *can* learn form
their mistakes and..."
"Learn..... She'll never learn! You saw her out there just as I did," Ja'ks
snapped. "She didn't have any clue what was going on or who was where! That
kind of lack of attention *will* get someone killed before you know it! Look
I'm not telling you how to run your Wing but that girl needs a few refresher
lessons with the hatchling trainer. Maybe more then a few but I don't think
even that'll help!"
Neither noticed the figure standing just outside the door, and since both of
the men in the room were busy, the dragon outside didn't think it important
enough to report that a human had entered the building. Nor the speed in
which they flew out of the same building moments later. Heck humans went in
and out of there all the time, so one more wasn't any big thing..... Maybe
this one had been told to go get T'rell some of that brown liquid stuff he
was always drinking called coffee..... and to hurry up with it.
"Look... Foxy told me Des woke once... and she'll do so again soon... Koda
told me she's going to be fine... so quit worrying so much. I'll take care
of Puss and see that nothing like this happens again."
They talked about other things for a few minutes, then Ja'ks stood up to go.
"You'll be with Des at the med center if anyone wants to know?" T'rell
asked, and chuckled as Ja'ks glared at him. "Give Koda a kiss for me."
"You can give her your own kiss the next time you see her." Ja'ks grunted
and left the office and a laughing T'rell behind him.
He was going to go back to the Med center but first he had one more person
to see. And he wasn't looking forward to seeing this person at all. Him and
his big mouth. If he'd only kept it closed, he wouldn't have to be having
this meeting right now. If he had just left well enough alone then he could
have been happy with the rider lost out in never never land for the next few
months and he wouldn't have had to worry about laying eyes on him.
But No... he had to go and open his big mouth!
As luck would have it... the man he needed to see was out of the Warren on
patrol. He left a message with Sprarroe to have the man report to him when
he got back and then headed back to the Med Center.
Later when Sprarroe had reported that the rider was looking for him, was the
same time that Des woke for the first time... Ja'ks had sent back a message
for the rider to come see him first thing in the morning. He wasn't about to
leave the woman he loved for a meeting with someone he would be more then
happy to see the last of.
[Day 10..... Morning..... lunch and afternoon]
[Ja'ks office]
Well he'd put it off long enough. He got off lucky yesterday, but knew his
luck had run out. Ja'ks wasn't exactly thrilled with what he was about to
do. Seeing that he didn't trust the man, nor had he been given any reason
too trust him, but once he'd opened his mouth in the Gossimor's living room
and mentioned the mans name, Jays had been on him to ask the man to do the
Warren a service.
"Tell him to think of it as just another part of his duty to the Warren and
the people we protect," she told him, knowing damn well why Ja'ks didn't
like the man, but also knowing he would never let personal feelings
interfere with his *duty*.
"Duty?" Ja'ks had scoffed. "Sister dear the man doesn't know the meaning of
the word. Are you sure you want to trust him with something like this... I
mean we can wait until Martyn gets here and..."
Jayleigh had shook her head. "Koda says he's involved in something in Xylian
right now and can't get away. But he'll be here as soon as he can."
Ja'ks sighed. Yes he'd put it off long enough.
<<Buddy contact Magpie and tell him I want his rider here in my office now.
Not tomorrow or this afternoon, but right now! I did say I wanted him in
here the first damn thing in the morning!>>
There he'd finally made the call. Now all he had to do was pray he wasn't
making the worst mistake of his life.
Ten minutes had passed before L'kki showed up. Ja'ks scowl grew even wider
as he watched the smiling man walk into his office.
"Magpie said you wanted to see me?" He said and took the seat before the
desk without waiting for an offer.
"Yes," Ja'ks frowned. "Is seems against my better judgement, the
*Warrenlady* has requested that I assign you to a special job for which she
thinks you may be well suited."
Ja'ks could see L'kii's interest picked up even thought the man just sat
there waiting for him to explain. Something he didn't want to do, but the
PTB's above him had other ideas.
He sighed again, wondering what he was letting them all in for.
"It would seem that while on their way here to the Warren for contract
talks... Lord Gossimor's caravan was ambushed and his youngest child... a
daughter ... was kidnapped by a large, organized group of men who seemed to
have been waiting for them at a certain spot." Ja'ks explained and didn't
noticed the quick look of fear that crossed the younger man's face for a
moment before he hide it.
"The Warren and Lord Gossimor's people have talked it over and decide that
there had to have been the work of an insider who had given out their travel
plans as this wasn't the route he usually took when they journey to the
Warren," Ja'ks went on to explain.
[[ NOTE: I missed used the Lady holders name in my last post..... Lord
Gossimor's wife's name in Brikeeta,..... NOT Reakeeta which is the name of
his daughter... Please fix my mistake in any posts you write using the Lady
holder or her daughters name..... thanks...]]
"The kidnappers are demanding a ransom for Lady Reakeeta and T'rell's BCS
Wing is going to provide help with that part..."
"... And you want me to go with them? To make sure no one decides to dip
their hand in the till so to speak? L'kki was to quick to caught on.
"You will be going," Ja'ks allowed, still frowning and wondering if he
should tell the man it hadn't been his idea... But then he'd be lying for
wasn't it he who had opened his big mouth and brought up the man's name.
"But you will not be going with the Wing. Nor will you let it be known that
you have anything to do with them. You will be going into town as an
observer only."
"And observer?" the man grinned. "Why? Don't you trust T'rell to bring back
the money once they get it? Think he has plans of his own to bump off
Gossimor and take it for himself."
"That's *Lord* Gossimor to you," Ja'ks snapped. "And T'rell has more honesty
in his little finger then you have in you're whole body... Him *I* trust to
do his duty. He's never given me any reason not to trust him."
The both knew that was a dig at L'kki's character, One the other rider let
slip by.
"As I said I'm telling you asking you to perform this *service* for the
Warren is against my better judgement... but for some reason the
*Warrenlady* has agreed to give you a chance to prove yourself to this
Warren and to your duty to it by assigning you to a special assignment. She
wants you to go into town and nose around... something I know you do excel
at... and see if you can overhear... or find out anything about the
kidnapping or who might be responsible for it. You are to report back to me
with any information you can find, and you are NOT to nose it about with the
other rider's that this is what you will be doing. Nor are you to
acknowledge or in any way contact any rider from this Warren you might
happen to see in town while you are there. Do I make myself clear?"
"As a bell," L'kki replied, and Ja'ks swore he could see the wheels turning
in the other mans mind, and wondered if he was trying to figure out a way he
could get something out of this.
"So I'm just suppose to show up in town and act as if I'm there to see the
sights and try to learn anything I can about the kidnappers, then report
back here?"
"That's it in a nut shell," the Beta Wingleader nodded, sitting back in his
chair and watching the man. "I'm sure with your... past... there's someone
there who might be able to tell you something."
"Yes. I do have a lot of friends in town," L'kki said, not rising to the bait.
"One more thing. The *Warrenlady* is trusting you to do this job right,"
Ja'ks commented. Emphasizing his sister's title. "You had better not let
that trust down or I'll make your life a living hell around here. Do I make
myself clear?"
[Tag James..... John and Arle should have their posts out with what happens
in town soon....... so you can take your lead from them..... ]
[[ Hint John... hint Arle..... :) ]]
[[afternoon]]
T'rell was off with the rest of his special Wing and though he had invited
Ja'ks to go with them, Ja'ks for once declined to go. Rare enough for him
not to participate in a special mission like this one was, and for someone
as important as the Gossimor's were, but this time he had something more
personal to see too.
The healer Lakoda entered the room and smiled at him as she moved towards
the other side of the bed and picked up Des's free hand. The one he wasn't
hanging on to and refused to let go of.
She checked the girls vital signs and again smiled at him.
"She's just sleeping now," Koda assured him. "I think you can stop worrying
so much about her."
"Have you?" he asked quietly.
Koda gave a short laugh. "The day I stop worrying about my cousin here is
the day Ribbon and I take to the skies and never return. But then I'm
family. I have the right to worry about her. I've known her longer."
Ja'ks allowed himself to grin. "Will you worry about me too when I become
part of the family?"
"Oh?" Lakoda's eye brows rose. "Something I should know about?"
"It's no secret how I feel about Des," he shrugged.
"No. It's not," the healer agreed. "A bit sudden since I understand you two
only met over a mating flight. Don't you think you should have courted her
first?
Ja'ks chuckled. "My dragon had other ideas... so did Foxy it seems, but I
knew the moment I saw her that she was the one I'd been waiting for all my
life."
"Does she know that?" Koda asked, slightly amused.
"I've... mentioned it to her," he drawled. "She was a bit... hesitant... But
I'll win her around to my way of thinking sooner or later. I'm a very
persistent man when I want to be."
"You're going to need to be with my cousin here," Koda told him. "She always
did have a mind of her own. But she also has a heart of gold and when she
cares about something she gives it everything she has. Just don't..."
"Push her? Rush her maybe?" Ja'ks finished for her when she hesitated. "I
don't plan on it, but at the same time I'm going to be so charming that she
won't know what hit her."
Koda looked at him closely before saying, "I've asked around about you Ja'ks."
"And?"
"And I've heard nothing but good things about you," she said. "Everyone I
talked to said the same thing... that you're a fine Wingleader and they
trust you. That you take your position of Wingleader very serious and you
never rely on your relationship with your sister the Warrenlady to advance
in your position. Very commendable."
"Jays has enough to worry about without her snot-nosed little brother
whining to her all the time," he mused, but was pleased by what the others
had said about him.
"I've also heard that you have a rule about ...ah... dating people...
women... in your own Wing. And that you haven't... dated... anyone in a long
time."
"Which is why I asked Jays to assign Des to T'rell's Wing..." he quipped.
"It's a long standing rule that I won't break. Only leads to trouble and
neither the Warren nor I need that kind of trouble."
"I thought as much." Her eyes looked serious now. "It's a good rule to live
by. I know myself that relationships can be a tricky thing to work out
sometimes."
"You?" he asked, wondering if she knew from her own personal experiences.
"Yes... since I happen to ride a dragon, most people think I should act like
a dragonrider and sleep with who ever I want... Which we both know is how
the Landbound sometimes look at us. I have it even worse... or did until
Martyn came around... He understand that my duty to heal people had to come
first... and that at times Ribbon like any female dragon will rise to mate.
Some of my past... lovers... weren't that understanding. They thought I
should have been able to *control* Ribbon's urges. So with having a dragon
who sometimes feels the urge to mate and being a healer on call all the
hours of the day... it doesn't work to well in any relationship. That is
until I met Martyn."
"I take it he's a bit more understanding then most guys would be. Being a
dragonrider and all. Is that the only problem you've faced?"
She shook her head. "But then I'm in sort of a unique situation. I'm a
healer who happens to be joined to a dragon. By choice I've chosen to heal
people... but some see me only as a dragonrider who should be out there
fighting to save the Warren each time there's an attack. In Marrid I had a
Wingleader who... despite my personal wishes and feelings on the matter...
Demanded that I split up my time working in the medical center join with a
wing and learn how to use my relationship with Ribbon to kill... He even
went as far as going to the Warrenlady there to have her make it an order."
"But you saw your duty following a different path?" Ja'ks commented.
"Yes... I didn't see any reason for learning to fight when it went against
everything I've lived my life for," she told him and saw that maybe he did
understand what she was trying to say. "I was humiliated in Falagand by the
Warrenlady there because I dared to join with a dragon... Because I was a
coward who hid behind my rank as a healer to get out of fighting like a good
little dragonrider should do."
"But didn't she see that what you do, do... as a healer, able to get where
you were needed in good time, was more important then taking the chance of
something happening to the very person who could save the life of an injured
rider?" he asked, amazed by her confession."I mean yes I do believe that
some training is necessary... but to force you into it after you've
explained your feelings on the matter..... that's not right. It could have
caused more harm then good to have an unwilling rider out there."
"No. All they saw was that I was a dragonrider and as such I was suppose to
give up everything I believed in and do things their way... In Marrid... the
Wingleader there thought it would be a good idea to have me join the Wing as
a field healer, to be there just in case someone happen to get hurt. But
until then I was just suppose to flame roll like everyone else in the wing,"
she said bitterly.
"He figured Ribbon and I could do our duty to the Warren and fight in the
wing until someone got hurt *then* I could perform miracles right then and
there on the ground of what ever place we where fighting over... and save
the riders life. He never took into account that all of my medical supplies
as well as any help I might need was all safely back in the Warren..." she
paused finally to take a breath.
"Sorry...but all my life I wanted to be a healer just like my parents. To
save lives when I could. I never asked to be a dragonrider, not that I
regret for one moment that Ribbon chose me to be her rider, but I can't and
won't give up everything I believe in... just because I happen to ride a
dragon. Riding a dragon is something I do... But being a healer and saving
lives is what I am. Can you understand that? Or do you as a Wingleader think
along the same lines as they do?"
"You'll find that neither my brother nor I believe along those lines," a
voice said from behind them and when they turned they saw Jayleigh standing
there. "How is she today?"
"Sleeping, but she's out of danger," Koda told her, wondering just how much
of their conversation the Warrenlady of Daere had overheard. "She should be
waking up soon I hope."
"I'm relieved to hear that. As I'm sure my brother is," Leigh spoke warmly.
"But if he gets to be to much of a nuisance around here just let me know and
I'll find him something else to do."
Ja'ks glared at her.
"In the mean time while he's still in your good graces I would like to have
a talk with you Healer Lakoda," Jayleigh said, all of her former humor gone
from her tone.
Ja'ks figured he knew what she wanted to see the healer about and knew how
much his sister was hurting because of Heron's death. His already high
respect for her as Warrenlady went up a notch. He only wished he could do
something for his *sister* to feel better.
He'd had Sprarroe ask Troy about her last night, wanting to be sure she
wasn't suffering alone with the pain of the old healers loss, but Sprarroe
had told him Troy assured him her rider wasn't alone. Raven's rider was
seeing to her comforts and she while the Queen knew he cared... she thought
it best to leave things be for now.
D'Altar... yes he was what Jays needed. Ja'ks blessed the man and the gods
for bring him into his sister's life when she needed someone.
"Just Koda please. We can go to the office your staff here has set up for me
to use if you'd care to Warrenlady Jayleigh," Koda said and was already
moving towards the door.
"Fine... if you'll call me Jayleigh," Leigh told her and with a nod to her
brother, followed the healer out of Des's room.
They were both seated in the office with the door closed before Koda spoke
up. "I wanted to tell you how sorry I was to hear about Heron's death... He
was always one of my parents favorite people both as a longtime friend and
as a colleague. I know they will feel his loss as will the people who live
here in Daere..."
"Yes he will be missed dearly," Leigh said fighting to keep the pain of his
loss from keeping her from doing what she had come here to do. "He was very
closed to my family... in a personal as well as professional role in our
lives. Which is the reason I've come here now to talk to you about..... I
had my courier take a note to the Healers Guide with the news and a request
for a new healer to..."
"No one could ever take his place Jayleigh..." Koda said softly, reaching
out to cover Leigh's hand with her own. "But I do see where you will need
someone new to keep the medical center running..."
Leigh nodded, pulling herself together.
"That is the important thing right now... for the good of this Warren," she
agreed. "And the reason I asked to speak with you. The Healers Guide sent me
a list of Healers they thought had the special experience that they felt was
needed to take on a med center of our caliber. And your name was tops on the
list."
"Let me guess... My father's name was at the bottom of the list. As in the
person who filled it out and sent it to you?" Koda asked, not at all
surprised when Leigh told her it was.
"He never did like the fact that I went to Xylian with everything going on
there, but he knew I did it because I felt I had too... But I must tell you
that I was stretch within my limit there and truth be told I didn't know how
much longer I can go on there."
She went on to explain to Leigh about the monsters that came out of the
wastes... and dealing with them, about the way the shift in the magic of the
area seemed to drain her of energy and about the sickness she had suffered
as a child.
"I'm not telling you this to talk you out of asking me to come here to
Daere... because I feel I can do a good job here with the Medical Center and
the people you already have on staff." Koda told her, wanting to be
completely honest with the woman. "But I do have limitations that others
make sure I remember from time to time..."
"Yes I can see why they would. I've heard about this illness and know what
it can do to a person," Leigh told her. "We'll just have to see that you're
not run ragged around here to the point where you drop over and scare your
patients."
"Yes... not a very good thing for the healer to do while treating someone,"
Koda mused in agreement.
"We also have a very fine cook here in Daere who's biggest joy, next to her
grandchildren, is in keeping people fed. So I'm sure she'll make it one of
her high points in each day to seeing to your meals herself in case you get
busy and forget to order something. And don't worry about her thinking
anything of it. She's my mother so I trust her with all my secrets. But
would you consider taking over the Medical Center here..."
"I'll have to talk it over with my mate Martyn... But I don't think he'll
have a problem with coming back home to Daere..."
"Yes... I just wish he were here now with everything going on with Lord
Gossimor's family... But I do understand that he couldn't just leave Xylian
in the middle of an investigation. But in the mean time... will you help us
out here..."
"Yes Warrenlady Jayleigh I will if that's what you really want... I know I
can't replace Heron... No one could... and I wouldn't even begin to try, but
I do see that you need help here so I will stay and give you and your people
whatever help I can until I can talk it over with Martyn and see what he
thinks about it."
"Thank you Koda," Jayleigh said warmly. She knew it would take some getting
used to having someone other then Heron in charge of the Center... But she
knew in time she would.
"One more thing... I meant it when I said I was a healer first and always...
I won't join a fighting wing... though I do understand that from time to
time I may have to take a required refresher class. Can you agree to this?"
"Agreed. As I said we here in Daere value what you can bring to us as a
Healer and someone who knows how to keep the Medical Center up and running.
We would never ask you to be what your heart won't let you be. Colette can
fill you in on any special patients who need extra care. I'll ask her to
fill you in on what care they've been receiving."
Jayleigh left soon after that to go back to her own office to wait on word
from T'rell and his Wing about what went on in town with the ransom demands.
[Afternoon.......]
Ja'ks was staring out the window at his sister's retreating back, wondering
if Koda had accepted the position of Head Healer. He knew how hard it was
for her to have had to ask for a replacement and was proud of her for doing
so, even though he knew she was hurting.
<My rider...Foxy said her rider was waking,>> Sprarroe's thought interrupted
his thinking and Ja'ks raced back to the bed and reached for Des's hand.
<<Buddy tell Ribbon to inform her rider that Des is awake now okay?>>
<Could you not go down the hall and tell her yourself?> came the dragon's
smart-allelic reply.
<<If you think I'm going to leave her for even half a second now that she's
a wake, you're dumber then you accuse Flerrion of being at times Buddy.>>
Ja'ks mental tone came out sounding like a snort. <Besides... I want my face
to be the first things he sees when she awakes...>>
<Why so she'll have nightmares?>
<<Just inform Ribbon!>>
<I have my rider... and I'm glad Foxy's rider is awake now.>
<<Thank you my friend... So am I.>>
A sigh of relief escaped when he saw her eyes begin to twitch, then open.
Without thinking he raise her limp hand up to his lips and kissed it in
thanks of her awakening and to give himself a minute to pull himself
together so he could speak.
"Wilders?" she managed to say at last, able to turn her head towards him a
little.
"BCS surprise training. But you're not to worry about it... I'll take care
of it." he replied softly. "I'm glad you're awake." The warmth in his voice
was music to her ears. His fingers twined into hers. He was so relieved to
hear her voice. To see the funny little smile on her lips. He wanted to kiss
them too, but held himself back.
"How long..?"
"Nearly three days," he said. "We were all very worried.. 'Koda, especially."
But not half as worried as I have been my love, he thought but didn't say
out loud. He would tell her in time, but now wasn't it.
"Foxys says she's on her way here. Tell her I'm okay.. just.. sleepy.."
"No!" he said suddenly, startling her. "She said - if you wake up, that you
can't go back to sleep until she's had a look at you. They still don't know
what's wrong."
"I .. don't know.. I'm really tired. I'll be okay. I'll wake up again, I
promise."
"I insist you stay awake!" he said, trying to soften it with a smile. Des's
lips fluttered faintly upwards, as her eyelids fluttered downwards. "Wake
up," he said firmly, squeezing her palm. Her eyes flew open again.
"Don't wanna," she sighed, her head rolling the other way and her eyes
closing again.
"Ah, hells," Ja'ks muttered. "Koda!" he shouted. "Hurry up! She's falling
asleep again!"
"Don't shout!" Des said, with all the force she could muster. She scowled
faintly and turned to pout at him. "You are determined to exhaust me, aren't
you?"
"Plenty of time for sleep later, when your cousin lets you! You've slept
for two days straight. Just stay awake for five minutes, okay?" Ja'ks
leaned over the bed a ways so he could look her straight in the eyes. Even
in her fuzzy state, his eyes seemed to shine straight into her heart. She
swallowed hard and nodded.
"Look I'm make you a promise," he grinned and kept talking just to keep her
awake. "When Koda says you can sleep again, I'll crawl into that bed with
you and hold you in my arms just to keep you warm."
"I've heard some good lines to get a girl into bed before... " she quipped
tiredly. "But that takes the cake Ja'ks."
"I'll have you know that was no line my love," he mocked being hurt by her
words. "I meant every self sacrificing word of it. But only where you count."
"Help me sit up," she said, already trying to wriggle upright. Halfway
through a hip contortion to the right, she cried out a little in pain and
froze abruptly. "I don't think my ribs will let me sit up," she said,
breathing shallowly and fast. She blinked several times and frowned again.
"What's wrong with me?"
"They don't know," Ja'ks said softly, though not without frustration.
Des sighed and let her eyes close again.
"LAKODA!" he hollered as loud as he could. Descarin nearly jumped.
"I'm here, I'm here!" her voice said from just beyond the room. "Descarin,
are you awake? I'm telling you, I didn't run half way across the warren to
find you asleep again - they've had me back and forth like this twice
already today, and once in the middle of last night! No wonder your
landbound parents weren't worried about you becoming a dragonrider.. if you
gave them half this much trouble.."
Lakoda strode into the room with a bag under one arm and a bowl of broth in
her free hand. Descarin blinked owlishly at her bustling cousin.
"Well?" Des managed at last. Lakoda only raised her eyebrows. "You never
finished telling me about Aunt Kayra's .. ahh.. third husband.. you know she
doesn't talk to Mother any more..."
Koda rolled her eyes a little, though she was smiling broadly with relief.
"I think you're going to be alright.. as long as you stay awake! You sit up
and you pay attention - oh, your ribs.. well then, you lie there and you pay
attention to me, missy! No more sleep. Not for at least another six hours! --"
Des took a deep breath and sighed. Ja'ks squeezed her hand gently, looking
on in astonishment as Lakoda completely took charge. He didn't expect such a
tiny woman to have such a big impact on others, but watching her now, he
could see what Koda lost in size she made up for by being bossy..... as well
as a damn fine healer.
Ja'ks was surprised when Koda didn't ask him to leave the room when she
examined her cousin. But then he'd made his intentions towards Des pretty
clear from the start and thought maybe that she knew asking him to leave
would do no good. She'd probably also heard from her spies that he could be
down right stubborn if the mood hit him.
"Okay now... As I've said, you're going to be all right... I'll make sure
your parents know....."
"Do you have to tell them?" Des asked.
"No..." Koda frowned slightly. "Not if you don't want them to know, but if
you don't do as I say then I'll have to rethink that. And on that note.....
I have work to do so I'm going to leave you two together with the threat to
behave and don't do anything you know I'll get upset with."
Des turned to look at Ja'ks when the door closed behind her cousin. "And
just what did she mean by that remark? What have you been telling her
about... us!"
Ja'ks reached out and took her hand in his again. He was feeling to thrilled
with the news that she was going to be all right to let anything get to him.
"Only that I've decided to make an honest woman out of you my love." He
grinned wickedly into the eyes that had first drawn him to her. "I told her
we were moving in together... and you agreed to have my children....."
[ I believe the expression Keri is TAG you're it! ]
