Day 13 Late Afternoon

Kati felt terrible, not that she could have stopped the events though. She had been looking for Allora when all hell had broken lose in the form of a strange dragon.

The young woman that had been snatched up hadn't been that far from her. But Kati, had been so intent on watching the dragon that she didn' t see the newcomer until it was too late. Then when the dragon had released the woman it was as if she just disappeared into the throng of people that had crowded around to watch the spectacle. What kind of
rider was she, she should have been paying better attention the brunette berated herself. How was she to fit in if she shirked her responsibilities to the Warren.

Asking several of the spectator's about the woman, none seemed to know where the woman had gone. Kati wasn't sure why, she just had this need to know the woman was okay.

<Can you see anything?"> she asked Maxie, hoping the dragon being higher, would be able to see the woman over the crowd.

[I didn't know I was supposed to keep track of errant strangers!] the drab dragon answered sounding bored now that the excitement was over.

<I find it hard to believe she wasn't hurt and just walked away and nobody noticed! I think that's a little impossible, don't you! >

A loud snort filled Kati's mind, [Lately where you humans are concerned I have found that anything is possible!]

The slim brunette sighed, rather disgusted with her dragon's attitude. [Just never mind I will find her myself!]

Kati searched through the buildings asking anyone she saw if they had seen any newcomers but all she received was strange looks and negatives. Becoming perplexed she walked along trying to imagine where the woman might go. She'd checked all the usual places, her mind was working rapidly and the brunette almost walked right into the mountain of a man.

Kati's eyes grew wide seeing the angry look on his face and she quickly took at least four steps back almost tripping in the process. The blacksmith looked terribly upset and a whole lot bigger up close.

"A..A..lexis, I.I'm sorry!" Kati stammered, her eyes unconsciously roaming over the large man.

Lexi, was highly upset, one part of his brain was telling him that having the women go off alone with a strange dragon was one of the more dumber things he had seen, yet the other was telling him they were fellow rider's and doing their jobs. Of course the fact that Sharees was among the group only strengthened his resolve, that it really was a dumb idea. Considering how stubborn Sharees could be he wasn't going to let her know that. Then to have his sister almost killed by that crazed dragon didn't help and of course Panda snubbed him once again for the boss. This was really getting to be a habit that he wasn't too happy with And of course Samson had to get his two cents in.

[I'm not saying anything! For want of saying, I TOLD YOU SO! But NOOOOO do you listen to me..] the reddish dragon snorted sarcastically.

'Can it Big guy!' Lexi snapped back at the dragon.

He wasn't sure who almost ran into whom when the little brunette had appeared out of nowhere. It was a second before he recognized her, but the look on her face as she backed away from him brought Lexi out of his dark thoughts. Having a woman look at him in fear bothered him immensely.

Lexi's handsome features softened and a smile touched the edge of his lips. "Kati...Kati LeClaire! I'm sorry Darlin' I wasn't paying attention where I was going."

To Lexi's amusement, Kati immediately began babbling another apology as she looked around nervously.

"Kati, calm down! It's okay, is something wrong!"

The young woman hesitated, then going on what she had heard about the big man she relaxed a little and explained what had happened.

"You can't find her anywhere?" he asked his voice filled with concern.Sending a message to the reddish-orange dragon, Samson launched himself to a higher perch soon spotting a lone figure under a tree.

"C'mon!" the male rider said heading off in the direction that his dragon had shown him.

Kati was almost at a run to keep up with Lexi, his long strides carrying him easily across the warren. The young woman knew she should be concerned about the newcomer, as her eyes couldn't help but roam up and down the huge man she was following. Kati knew Alexis Kaltos was the center of many a female conversation in the warren. She'd heard the
hushed whispers and swoons concerning the gorgeous blacksmith and his normal lack of clothes.

Her mouth went dry as Kati's brown eyes were drawn to the rippling muscles in his back as he moved easily along. His arms were massive and the powerful legs looked like they had been poured into the black leather they fit so snuggly, outlining every detail of his sexy
backside. A familiar tingling started in her stomach and the brunette couldn't help wonder if the rest of the man was....

<Getting a little sidetracked are we? > Maxie's words came like a rush of cold water.

What was happening to her, it was Allora she really cared about, but men for some reason had this strange affect on her. Before she could answer the drab dragon, Kati plowed right into the back of Lexi her face smashing into his bare back. Horrified she jumped back as if she had been struck by lightening. Stammering an apology she flushed a deep crimson from head to toe. Lexi's chuckle did nothing to ease her embarrassment.

"I think we found her!" he said seriously then giving Kati an amused wink.

Looking at the prone woman, reality set in and Kati immediately rushed to the woman's side. "I was right! She is hurt!" Kati blurted out seeing bloodstains on the woman's clothes.

Lexi knelt down next to the woman, he wasn't sure if she was unconscious or sleeping. But her breathing was even, so that was a good sign. Moving her shirt slightly he noticed the makeshift bandage had turned crimson, "We need to get her to the Med-Center and have her checked out!"

Looking at the huge brown eyes now filled with worry, Lexi smiled gently, "I'm sure she'll be okay Kati. It's a damn good thing you noticed she was missing!"

Kati half smiled at his words, touching the young woman's shoulder enough to hopefully rouse her she received no response. Again she gently pushed the woman's shoulder and said "Hello!" Still nothing.

Lexi shook his head, "She's probably exhausted from her little ride or unconscious from loss of blood!" "Either way.." He said letting the sentence drop. Not waiting any longer he said, "Grab her stuff!"

Very carefully Lexi gently lifted the woman, cradling her in his arms then started off for the Med-Center with Kati once again running to keep up.

{Tag: Crystal - is she gonna wake up before they get there? :)}
