[DL-G] Leaving so soon?

"Got a special place in mind?" asked Cygnus.
Kirin frowned and shifted uncompfortably on her feet. She had no
idea at all where she was going to go. Away from here. To Merle's
hatching place? Home? She twisted her mouth into a humorless smile.
What home?
<I would like too see my brothers and sisters, but you never take
me back. He stepped on my tail.>
>If you hadn't been so hungry, we wouldn't have come here. So
don't blame it on me.<
"I was going to see some...family." she said smoothly.
Cygnus didn't look convinced. "I was told you had no family,
that they were killed by wraiths."
Kirin couldn't deny that, she still had nightmares about her
familys death. She scowled darkly at him. He just smiled.
<You need too work on your scowl again. You don't scare people
anymore.>
Kirin turned around and frowned at her dragon. Turning around
again, she put an innocent smile on her face. "Actually, Cygnus, I
wasn't even leaving until tomorrow, but it never hurts to be
prepared." She used her sweetest, most innocent voice for this, but
nothing could have hidden the touch of sarcasm at the edge.
"Well then, since you aren't leaving until tomorrow, we might as
well make the best of the situation." he offered her his arm, which
she took.
Merle was laughing hystarical in the dragon way. She obviously
found this situation quite amusing.
<My poor rider gets herself in the stickiest situations.> Kirin
glared at the dragon and scowled convincingly enough to make her shut
her mouth. <I take that back, you don't need to practise your scowl.
You need to practise staying out of trouble.> Kirin didn't even grace
that comment with another scowl.
Cygnus was chatting away companiably, jabbering about the
hatching, a new queen, wasn't Yothick one of the most beautiful
dragons she'd ever seen? She just nodded, barely containing fury. If
it weren't for the dragon, she never would have set foot in this
warren!
Cygnus asked another question, obviously waiting for an answer.
Kirin frowned inwardly and nodded. This was going to be a very long
night....
