As Amintha heard Mannin's story, she was surprised that he seemed even more
stronger than he seemed.  So the young man didn't exactly have an easy life
either.  Amintha decided to make conversation, and avoid the topic about
the *censored* dragon Charmak.  

"You know what's ironic Mannin?  When I grew up, they first called me the
monster's child.  Then when I had no family at the age of....seven I
believe?  I was forced to move around Asvin and become a criminal.  At Ten,
I was apprentice to a pirate.  Then I became the most feared pirate.  I had
no thoughts of being a hero, though in some places I was.  I broke laws
because the jutice system meant nothing to others who had been used and
stepped on for power.  But now look at me!  I'm disgustingly respectable
and decent!  Do you know how long it's been since I smuggled something???
Plunder a viallge that uses other people's money???  It's enough to make me
sick!  If my old friends were still around, they would never stop laughing
at me dammit!" Amintha said this was such obvious disdain that Mannin
almost found himself laughing.  He answered,

"Well, some people try to be heroes, and simply fail.  Others were destined
to be." 

Amintha could sense that he thought he was one of those who "simply
failed".  Frowning, she laughed and winked coyly at him.  "Nay, that not be
true.  You saved my life, did you not friend?  A hero you be, a thousand
times over.  'Sides, how can I be destined?  I have no destiny!"  

They continued to talk, and Mannin was highly curious if it really was
possible for Amintha to have no Destiny....

"What's your proof that you have no Destiny pirate?"

"Plenty.  1.  The Gods tried to kill me all my life.  Why?  Well because 2.
When one has no destiny, the gods cannot read your mind, or control you.
They cannot create a future for.  They haven't been able to kill me yet,
have they?  3. Because ever since I was 23, everyone with wisdom and "the
gift" keep on tellin' me this crap.  and my fav, 4.  The Gods are scared
like hell of me!"  Amintha grinned quite evily with that one, and let
Mannin know how much she relished that privelige.

As they continued to talk, Shard suddenly showed up and said <Mannin, what
are we going to do exactly when we get to the fortress?>

"Do you know where it is?" Amintha asked as well.  The pirate was highly
curious, and for once wanted to know what she was getting into.
