<Lord Bridgett>
*************

She was gone!

A chair went sailing acrossed the room to collide with the picture hanging
over the fire place in the study. The red faced lord still deep in his anger
next turned to the man who was suppost to be watching the girl and her
mother. His left hand flew out to strike the man, opening a deep gash where
it connected with his cheek.

"I want them found!! And I want them found NOW!!!!" Lord Bridgett shouted
at the man. "Do you understand?"

"Yes my Lord. The men will be alerted and will be sent out to search the
area. She can't have gone far," the man said, hoping he was right or there
would be hell to pay. "We'll find them and bring them both back."

"I want the girl!" Bridgett spoke up, his voice cold. "I don't care what
happens to her mother. She's outlived her usefulness to me."

"Yes my Lord," there was a smile on the man's face as he turned to leave.

So Bridgett didn't care what happened to the older woman, did he? Well Fabor
could deal with that. He cared what happened for he had plans for the little
bitch himself. How long had he dreamed of having her laying naked beneath him.

Too long.

Well if Bridget was finished with her....

It didn't take long for him to send the men out to search around the estate.
But it was a lot longer before two of the men returned back to the house to
report about seeing dragonriders in the area. They told of how they had
followed the dragons best they could and then how as they watched the
dragon's and their riders had landed and found the two women.

"I'm sorry Fabor," the younger of the two said. "But there was nothing we
could do. The dragonriders were every where."

Half and hour later Fabor stood at the door way leading into the study
looking around. No more was it the show place of the home. Broken furniture
laid everywhere. Books had been pulled down off of shelves and thrown around
the room. The picture that had hung above the fire place laid on the floor,
long gashes from a small knife showed where someone had ripped it apart.

Of Lord Bridgett there was no sign.

Fabor began to worry. Surely the man wouldn't have been stupid enough to
have taken off on his own to go after the girl... would he?

Well if the shape of the room was any indication of the man's state of
mind....he just might.

"Bossen!!!" the man yelled as he turned and ran down the hall to where the
others were waiting. "Get two men and get on your horses. I think Lord
Bridgett is on his way to Geode Warren after the girl."

"Is he crazy!!"

Fabor's eyes met the other mans and in that brief second, Bossen could read
the man's answer. "May the Lords help us. He'll be the death of us yet going
against them riders at the Warren. I'm sorry Fab....but I don't want no part
of this. Not anymore. If he wants to get himself killed because he has the
hots for that kid... then let him. I'm out of here."

"Your right," he agreed. Why should he maybe get himself killed just cause
the pervert liked to get it on with young girls. "Why should we take the
chance of getting ourselves killed doing his dirty work? Let's get out of here."

The third man spoke up for the first time. "Why should we leave here empty
handed? None of us ever got rich working for that tightwad. I know I didn't.
I want something to get me by until we find other work..."

As the three men went about looting the high Lords house, the man in
question was on his way back to his domain. He had a plan in mind to
retrieve that, which was taken from him. He had underestimated the girl and
her 'mother' and was now paying for it. But soon that would changed for the
news he had just learned in the village would ensure him the support of the
Warren and that bitch who ran it.

The old croon who had told him of the girls true parentage had been richly
rewarded for her services. He'd seen to it himself. Now he was the only one
besides Dellanie who knew who the girl was and soon with the information he
was to take to the Warren, that bitch would have to choice but to turn the
girl over to him...

The girl Bashie would be his yet.

<Go'wayn>
**********
His head was killing him when he finally awoke. There was a pain coming from
the side of his face and his lip felt as if it had taken a beating.

Memories of the night before came slowly sliding back into his mind as he
remembered parts of what happened.

Mc'key!

The other rider had attacked him while he had been sleeping. The Warrens
golden boy had gotten off two good hits before the others had pulled him away.

But why? What had he done to anger the other rider into the unprovoked attach?

Groaning as he turned on his side, Go'wayn suddenly realized that he was no
longer in his own bed, in his own apartment. That's when the memories came
flooding back....

The deal he had made with those two landbound men to help them kidnap... no
...recover a thief. He'd shown them where the little brat was and helped
them get to her. What did it matter than she was now riding a
dragon....Women...no babies shouldn't be joined with fighting dragons
anyway. You couldn't depend on a woman rider to guard your back. Not the way
you could with a man.

Women were only good for one thing and it sure as hell wasn't fighting
wraiths and the other things that caused danger to the warrens.

<The Warrenlady is a woman,> Flen reminded his rider after listening to the
mans thoughts. <Is she too, good only for one thing?>

<<Phaedra is different,>> the stocky rider insisted. <<She's not fighter
anyway... and her queen is good for only one thing. And that's making
babies. More little dragons for us to join and fight with.>>

<Even so... The Queen commands all of the dragons, be it male or female and
we must obey her when she speaks.>

<<It doesn't have to be that way my dragon,>> an almost evil smirk grew on
the man's face. <<If enough of the males around here had any guts we could
stand up to her and take over the running of this place. Them that didn't
like it could leave or....>>

The door of his cell opened and he was momentarily surprised to see Ghost
walk into the room. She wasn't alone, Mc'key and his partner Jil'mae were
right behind her.

"What do you want?" he sneered, but she didn't answer. Just stood there,
dark navy-blue eyes looking back at him. He stared back, and then laughed
trying to break her. "So how'd you like your little trip?
Finally find out what's it's all about?"

No one in the room was fooled by his meaning. Mc'key started forward but
Ghost put her arm up to stop him.

"That's something you will never find out Go'wayn," she told him. her voice
level with no emotion. "Cause you see I don't think I'll have to worry about
you much longer."

This time a smile creased her lips. "You see I don't figure you'll be around
the Warren much longer to cause anyone else any harm."

"Oh!!," the sneer was still on his lips, but something about the tone of her
voice led him to believe she knew something that would effect him. "That right?"

"That's right," her smile grew. "You see you messed up big this time. This
time you crossed the line. It wasn't just an unwarranted beating of a
drudge. This time you almost caused the life of a dragonrider of this Warren
and for that there is no excuse, and only one punishment."

"Since when did you become the Warrenlady here bitch?" his insides were
beginning to feel a chill. He knew what she was leading up to and part of
him was scared. What would he do if he was asked to leave the Warren? He was
a dragonrider!! That's all he ever wanted to be. And now because of this
little bitch standing so before him that could all be in jeopardy.

If it wasn't for the two standing behind her... he knew she wouldn't be
acting so brave. He'd have shut her up by now the way his father had always
shut his mother up when she got a little mouthy.

"I don't need to be the Warrenlady here to know the rules and laws of the
Warren," she told him, not at all intimidated by his attitude. "You screwed
up big this time Go'wayn and nothing you can do or say is going to get you
out of it. So I just thought I'd come by and take one final look at you so
that I could remember what a sorry piece of trash you really are. I wanted
to have one more look at the... well.... I won't insult Mc'key and Jil'mae
by calling you a man... it's not their fault that you happen to be the same
sex they are...."

"If they weren't here girlie I'd show you just how much of a man I can be,"
he gave a short wicked laugh.

"Even the lowest beast rut in the dirt," she reminded him. "So you should
fit right on in, cause that's where you'll be living once Phaedra gives the
order to have you banished. And don't think that she won't.....I plan on
being there to make sure that she will have no choice."

Suddenly before Go'wayn could come back with a scalding reply, all four
dragonriders heard the report call from their dragons. All wings were being
called to report to the green and the riders battle ready.

Ghost turned towards the door just seconds after the report ended, she knew
she wouldn't be able to go along since she and Kikeane weren't ready yet but
there was still other things she could do to be of help.

"And where the hell do you think you are going?" Mc'key's voice behind her
stopped her in her tracks.

"A call to report to our wings just went out man didn't you hear?" the
stocky rider all but yelled as her tried to push past the taller blond.

"I'm afraid that isn't any of your concern any longer Go'wayn," Mc'key
informed him. "You no longer have a wing to report to."

"You lie!!" he yelled, still not accepting what was happening to him because
of his own vindictive actions.

"You think so?" Jil'mae threw out as they blocked the mans way out. "Well
think again buddy. After the way you betrayed Ghost to Lord Bridgett's
men's do you honestly think that there is a rider in this Warren who would
trust you to watch his or her back!?!"

It took a few seconds for the mans words to sink in, but when they finally
did, Go'wayn stood there unable to move as the door closed locking him
inside the tiny room he'd woken up.

"By the Gods!!" he swore. "What have I done?"

-------------------------------------------

Sorry it's been awhile since I've written anything here... but I sort of got
lost in the plot.....I hope this gets me going again without messing
anything up.

While Ghost can't report to any of the wings about to leave the Warren...
she will be heading to the medical center to help out there just in case
there are any injuries....

Mc'key and Jil'mae will be reporting to the Wings and will be ready for
anything coming their way.

Poor Go'wayn will be sitting in his cell back at the Guide of Swords
wondering how his life could have gone so wrong... and then try to come up
with someone else to lay the blame for it on....
