[DL-G] What she can do

**Myacura**
<Shh Inagua,> Mya whispered, trying to get her rider to stop. But she
wasn't even sure if Inagua even knew she was there, and it was
frightening.
She felt a sense of relief as a human woman approached and took Inagua
in her arms. Maybe she could bring her rider out of this. Yet, Inagua
did no more then lay where the woman had put her, and those horrible
sobs didn't go away.
<Inagua please!> Mya cajolled, wanting to hear just one coherent thought
from her, but there were none to be found.
They seemed to be at a standstill, the two humans, Mya certainly was
with her rider. The woman was comforting Inagua, but the only change in
her rider was a nasty case of the hiccups, which only increased her
shuddering and jerking around. It went on like that for quite sometime.
Finally though, it seemed the woman was going to do something, and Mya
watched with some trepidation as she disentangled Inagua from her lap
and made sure she was steady and up right.
She watched as the woman regarded her briefly and then made some
reasuring sounds before drawing back her hand. There was a sound like
that of a fire popping and Inagua's head whipped around, her hand going
to her face.
Mya was about to voice a protest at the treatment of her rider, but then
she realized that the only sound was of Inagua's hiccups. The sobbing
had stopped.
<Inagua?> she asked hesitantly.
*<Shit Mya, what am I going to do?>* her rider asked. Mya could feel
the desperation, confusion, worry, frustration, and depression all
waring for dominance in her.
Mya considered the question and could find no answer other then, <What
you can.>
Inagua sniffed and hiccuped, still rubbing her face, when the woman
moved towards her and gently touched her shoulder.
**Inagua**
Her face hurt, but that was not a new sensation. Her soul felt like it
had just gotten the crap beaten out of it, but that pain was so familiar
it was nearly a friend. It was, Inagua guessed, the sense of failure
that was really eating her alive. She had failed Yelia and now she
couldn't do a damn thing about it.
The fact that all three of them were alive was her greatest
accomplishment, built up on all the little ones of getting them food,
someplace to sleep, a gift for their birthdays... But since they had
come here, she had done nothing but fail them.
She stifled a startled shriek as a hand touched her shoulder. She'd
forgotten about Dellanie. Shit. She was in no mood to deal with the
nosy, pushy woman, but she'd have to tell her something to get her off
her back.
Inagua stood up and wiped her face, and Dellanie's hand stayed with her.
"Thank you," Inagua sniffed. "If you'll excuse me.." she said as she
gently broke away from the woman's touch.
"Inagua," Dellanie said worriedly. "I want to help. Do you want to-"
"I'm fine," Inagua interupted rudely. "I just need to go clean up.
Goodbye," she said as she disappeared into her quarters.
As she washed her face, she located what she wanted to wear in the pile
of clothes that took up half her room. When she was done, she pushed
some things aside until she found what she wanted. It took only a
moment to put on the black pants, white shirt, and grey vest. Then she
brushed her hair and made herself look as presentable as possible.
She was a bit surprised at the face that looked back at her in the
mirror. It had been a while since she'd looked into one. Her hair was
a little longer and she supposed she might have been almost pretty if
her face hadn't been covered with yellow-green bruises. Oh well, they'd
fade soon enough.
She stared into her own freakish eyes for a long time, as if she could
draw strength from her reflection. It only made her feel depressed, and
she looked away.
Inagua reached under her bed, grabbed her bottle, opened it, and took a
drink. She going to go to Phaedra to do, to quote her dragon, "what she
could."
She really hoped she wasn't going to get lectured, though the gods knew
she deserved it in everybody's eyes. Still, she wasn't going to fail
her siblings again. Though she was fairly sure the warren would have
done what she was going to ask anyway, it never hurt to make sure and
even get it in writing if she could. She should have done this along
time ago.
Besides, it was about time she figured out how to earn her keep here
anyway.
Putting the bottle away, Inagua squared her shoulders and left her
quarters, heading for Phaedra's office for a long overdue visit.
*****************************
NRPG: Ok, she's going to ask, just to make sure really, that the warren
look after her siblings no matter what. I don't know if Ghost is still
there. Inagua is prepared for an arguement tho.
