[DL-J] A Nervous Tour

G'mit followed Z'charai out of the Dining Hall, stretching mightily and
grinning. He patted his belly, "Now that... was a wonderful meal."
Z'charai snorted, "Yeah. We should get a new Warrenlady more often.
Maybe we'd get fed that way all the time." He smirked.
<You've never complained about your food before, my rider.>
**I know, I know. It was just obvious they put extra effort into it
today, Eo.** For some reason, that frustrated Z'charai. The food was
always tasty, so why embellish what was already perfect? In his eyes, at
least.
G'mit clapped him on the shoulder, "Well, I'm off to patrol the shoreline.
See you later?"
"Oh. Sure, G'mit. See you later," Zach watched as G'mit mounted
Starion's crimson flank and took off.
He turned to Eolanth who looked quite comfortable, "Mind if I relax with
you, partner?"
Eolanth snorted <Of course not, my rider.> and made a nice seat out of his
forleg for the blonde man to sit on.
Z'charai relaxed for a moment, watching the people scurrying about. It
wasn't long before he saw the Copper dragon queen and her rider moving
across the green accompanied by a bright blue dragon and her rider. To
his suprise, they were headed right for him.
> "Hello, I am Evelle, your new WarrenLady. And you are?"
> "Z'Charai, my lady," he answered, quickly rising to his feet and
> bowing. "Welcome to Jasra."
> "Thank you, Z'Charai." Evelle smiled and brushed aside a shock
> of hair that had fallen across his eyes. "I know that you must miss
> your former WarrenLady very much. I hope that in time I'll prove worthy
> to succeed her."
> "I'm sure you will, WarrenLady. We thank you for coming so far
> to keep Jasra from being closed."
> "I've started to love it here already, and I had better get to
> work. If you would be kind enough to visit my office sometime,
> Z'Charai, perhaps you can tell me some things about Jasra's history that
> I should know. But right now, I'd like you to meet Wade. She is from
> the sea and has never been to a warren. Perhaps you could show her
> around and see if she might want something to eat."
> Turning to Wade, Evelle continued, giving neither of these two
> shy people time to protest. "Please look around, Wade. I really
> believe you might like it here. If you think you would like to stay a
> while, I'm sure Z'Charai can help you find an apartment for yourself and
> Jismin."
> Satisfied with a job begun, Evelle hurried off towards her
> office.
Z'charai blinked, holding up a hand to stop Evelle as she walked away,
"Excuse me.... Warrenlady?" His voice faded and his hand fell to his side
as he realized it was too late, she was gone.
He turned his gaze on the young woman before him. She was watching him
rather intently with her dark green eyes, seeming curious as to what he
might do next. He extended his hand.
"I'm Z'charai... or Zach. I ride Eolanth," He hitched a thumb over his
shoulder, gesturing to the large purple dragon behind him.
The girl regarded his hand for a moment, not taking it, then looked up at
him, "My name is Wade." She said softly.
Z'charai blinked, pulling his hand back. He wasn't quite sure what to
make of this girl. She was very pretty, with her long reddish gold hair.
The sun had added highlights and she'd woven some shells into it. Her
white dress floated with the breeze, making her appear very mysterious.
She looked as if she would bolt at any given moment.
"I... ah..." Zach swallowed, looking around as he searched his mind for
something to say.
<Her dragon's name is Jismin. And they both lived in the water until
coming to Jasra.> Eolanth prompted.
"So... it must be very different to come ashore after living in the
ocean?" Z'charai commented.
<Amazing grasp of the obvious, my rider.>
**Oh, shut up. I have no idea what to say to this girl.**
Wade smiled hesitantly, "Yes, it is. Very different." She glanced around
doubtfully.
"I... I can show you around, if you like?" he smiled what he hoped was an
encouraging smile. In acutallity, he looked more frightened than
reassuring.
Z'charai gestured off towards the ground structures, beckoning for Wade to
follow. Eolanth and Jismin seemed to be having an unspoken conversation,
so they didn't follow, though Jismin did lift her head inquiringly as Wade
and Z'charai began to move away.
Likewise, Wade hesitated, looking over her shoulder towards her dragon.
"It'll be alright, Wade," Zach said, "This is your home now. You're safe
here."
Wade frowned, looking from Zach to her dragon and back again. Jismin
rumbled reassuringly to her rider. Silent words passed between the two
and Wade turned to follow Z'charai with a final glance at Jismin.
"Over here... well, that's the Dining Hall. We've some very good cooks in
there," Zach pointed to the next structure, "And that is our Hatchling
Barracks. The newly joined live in there, though we haven't had a
Hatching in many years..."
"Oh? Why is that?" Wade asked curiously.
"Our former queen... she didn't produce any other queen eggs," Z'charai
explained, "The male to female dragon ratio is a bit higher on the male
side here at Jasra. She did produce quite a few males."
"Oh." was all Wade said, nodding.
They continued walking, Zach pointing out various points of interest. His
tour ended at the Medical Center, "This is our Medical Facility. Come
here when you get injured or sick."
<I think she's smart enough to know what a Medical Facility is for, don't
you?> to his rider, making him blush and look at
the ground.
<I love it when he's flustered.> Eolanth smirked <Puts him in his place.>
Jismin regarded him cooly, refraining from comment as their riders were
headed their way.
