Piper couldn't believe her eyes, she didn't want to, and yet she did.
Oh, why did this have to happen to her?

>"I came for you Piper. You left so quickly .. and I  .. I can't be without
you. I love you."

>"NO! No .. Devon," she said moving away from him and grabbing her clothes.
"You're supposed to be with Meena."

>"Meena?" he said, "No, Piper .. I love you .. I came all this way to find
you. You don't know how hard it was. You didn't even say goodbye."

"Meena is your mate, I.. it's all my fault,"  Piper started to cry,
"I didn't mean to steal you from her, please... go back to her...
forget that I exist.."

"I can't forget you, Piper,  please.. wait,"  Devon's pleading only
made Piper hurry faster, as she fastened on her clothes, fighting with
buttons and ties that seemed determine to not want to cooperate.  

"You have to forget me, Devon,"  Piper said, sternly,  "I can't take
you away from your family."  *Bishvilea, come, quickly, we have to
go!*

Devon shook his head, and stood, walking to her, taking her into his
arms,  "Meena doesn't want me.  She through me out."  He paused
thoughtfully,  "And she isn't the woman that I fell in love with, and
I'm still the same man, I haven't changed, or grown, but she has.  We
can't be mates any longer, Piper.  But you..."  

*BISHVILEA! HURRY!*  Piper demanded, trying not to listen to the man
who churned her emotions higher than anyone elses had ever done.  Oh
how she loved him!   And he wouldn't go away,  she would have to run
again."

*What's the matter, Piper?*  Bishvilea's sleepy, satisfied voice
drifted to her rider,  *Can't it wait a bit?  The sun is warm and I'm
so comfortable right now.*

*No! Now! Hurry!*  Piper fought down the panic that was growing..
the.. other feeling.. the feeling that made her want to just stay, she
had to escape before it took her over, and she stayed.  "Oh Devon, it
wrong for me to want you.. Don't you see?"  She turned to him, her
eyes pleading, and her eyes met his, and she quickly turned away.
"Please.." she whispered,  "You belong to Meena.."

"No, I don't.. Piper, she threw me out.  Please, you are the only one
that I want..."  Devon walked over to her, and gently turned her
around, and gazed deeply into her eyes,  "I love you, Piper."

Looking into his eyes, Piper melted into his arms, and Bishvilea's
satisfied mental sigh let the girl know that at least her dragon
wouldn't be interrupting them for some time to come.


Later that day....

Piper threw the last of her belongings into the leather saddlebag that
lay over the pouting dragon's back.  

*You are being silly, my Rider,*  Bishvilea said, with a mental frown,
as she tried to decifer the human's confused thoughts and emotions.
*Your mating with the human was enjoyable, was it not?*

*BISH!*  Piper turned red, even though no one but she and her dragon
could hear the conversation.  

*What else is there, my Rider?*  Bishvilea continued, unabashed.
*Good food, warm sand to sleep in, mating flights now and again?  What
more could you want?*

*You don't understand, he should be with Meena, not with me..*
Piper's face was still flushed.  Having been raised as a lander and by
her Uncle, she had not been exposed to the same situations that
happened in Warren life, until her joining, only a while ago.

Bishvilea grumbled deeply, and resettled herself more comfortably.
*You humans are so odd,* she said, and closed her eyes.

Piper packed in the last few items and looked around the room.  She
sighed, she didn't want to leave Jasra Warren, and yet, how could she
stay?

Latching her saddlebag, she made ready to climb into the saddle, but
suddenly, dragon wings darkened the door to her quarters and she
looked up to see who was entering.
