Evening Day 9

As Corwin stood comforting Elly, he noticed the warm wetness running down
his chest -- and it wasn't tears.  Wishing he had a shirt to rip into
strips, he told Elly that he'd have to tear a piece off of her shirt to hold
against the cut on her jaw to stem the flow of blood.  She agreed and he
attempted to pull a corner off the end of her shirt.  The shirt was of
flimsy material and when he tore, it pulled apart at the seams.

Swearing and apologizing, Corwin fumbled with the remains of her shirt,
attempting to re-cover what he had just exposed, yet he did manage to remove
a scrap that he pressed against the laceration.

He could hear the other riders, especially Aitzan, laughing at his
discomfort.

"What the hell are you doing with my sister?" A hand suddenly grabbed
Corwin's shoulder and spun him around.

"Eddy!  He's trying to help!"  Elly cried out, causing her brother to pause
with his arm cocked, ready to strike Corwin.  "Those guys, over there ...
they were the ones that attacked me!"

Eddy peered over to the dark shapes on the ground and snorted.  "I've asked
Hesperus to send for some back-up.  Dad's coming... Where is Devon?  He was
supposed to be on watch?!"

Eddy spun around to go search for the missing watch-rider and almost tripped
over the foreign girl that he'd rescued from the burning ship.  She had
obviously been injured.  "How many of you are there, and who is injured?"
Seeing the Swordmaster, Eddy called to him, "Jerram!  We need to get these
injured back to the med center!"

Jerram saw the streetrat trying to stand.  He had to give him some credit,
the boy had handled himself rather well during the fight.  But Jerram could
see that Gus was hurt, and whether or not he liked it, Gus would need help
getting back to the warren.

Ro'gen arrived with two of Ishtey's seven children, Eris joined to Kovlar
and Tegui joined to Lipra.  They took charge of the injured and inebriated
sailors.

Corwin aided Elly, while Eddy helped Aitzan, and Jerram assisted Gus.  The
six walked slowly, with a few moans and groans, to the medical center.

Raleon, aware that these riders would be coming in, had already prepared
bandages and antiseptic.  He tsked over their wounds, but he and the nurses
swiftly had them all seen and tended to.

Corwin exited his room just as Elly was coming from hers.

"Can I walk you back to your apartment?"  Corwin asked her softly.
