[DL-J] Making Up

As Mc'Key and Ghost left Tara's office, Key was not feeling very
comfortable. Leaving the Warren had been the right thing to do, but he
wondered about their 'new lives' here. Would he be wearing the tag of a
deserter? Someone who could not be counted on to be there for the Warren?
The very idea of that chilled him to the core.
The girl who was showing them around was telling them all about their new
Warren, but Key was only half-listening. Ghost's past was going to be
secret, but what of his own? Would people appreciate having him around? He
wasn't going to deny who he was and he would certainly be asked. Perhaps it
would be enough for them to know that his WingLeader's status was not
permanent and that he left to be with his mate. No. He wouldn't say that,
just that he was not officially WingLeader and that they had decided to make
a fresh start. It *was* the truth. He was just feeling guilty.
The girl directed them to a guest apartment where they would be able to set
up temporary quarters. Knowing how much their dragons wanted to be in the
water, they unpacked their slight luggage quickly, chasing off the two
beasts who were almost giddy with excitement.
They looked around the apartment, which was amply furnished, and finally had
time to look at each other.
"You're worried Tara will think badly of you?" Ghost asked.
"Yes. I already feel guilty, even though I know I did the right thing."
"You never told me how Argent reacted to the news," she commented.
"She was taken aback somewhat. I think she had counted on my being around
for a while. She was going to make my WingLeader position permanent."
"Oh Key, I'm sorry..."
"Don't be, my love. The dragons love it here already and I think Tara did
understand why we left. Argent did too, although she was sad to see us go. I
told her of many people who could help her through these times. She will
make a fine WarrenLady."
Mc'Key did not regret leaving. His apprehension was natural, but it would
pass. While not imparting Ghost's history, he fully intended to tell his new
WingLeader about his own.
He went to the bathroom, splashing a little water on his face. He would have
to get cleaned up pretty soon. He idly noticed that he already had a little
sand in his boot. As he got back into the main room, Ghost was waiting. She
had removed the pins from her hair and it was now sitting softly over her
shoulders. He looked at her, thinking of the time - so long - when they were
apart. He looked at her long, raven hair falling about her face; the way her
shirt opened and revealed soft skin and the promise of so much more. He
moved towards her, almost in a rush, and pulled her to him.
"Oh Ghost, I never want to be without you again!"
Amongst tears of joy, she told him "You never will, my love."
Key stood her back slightly, wiping away the tears from her eyes. She smiled
at him and he thought she had never looked more beautiful than she did at
that moment. Reaching over, he stroked her hair and as she closed her eyes,
he brushed her cheek. Her breathing began to quicken as his hand continued
over her exposed skin, finding the buttons of her shirt easily. As her shirt
fell away, he picked her up and, without her even opening her eyes, he took
her to the bedroom, kissing her. They both knew that a lot of pleasure lay
before them.
[Late Afternoon / Early Evening]
The 'born again lovers' were still in bed. At some point, their dragons had
returned, cuddling together, happy in the knowledge that their riders were
together again. Key and Ghost had been long and deliberate in their love
making, almost as if they had to rediscover everything they ever knew about
each other. Both had showered and were now relaxing in each others arms.
Ghost, stroking his smooth chest, told Key "It is so good to be back in your
arms again."
"Mm," he agreed. "You do seem to fit in there just right," he smiled.
They probably should have been abroad in the Warren, getting to know
everyone, but they had been apart for so long. Key knew that soon they would
need to go to the dining hall for diner and so could introduce themselves
then. For the moment, he was enjoying the long, soft strokes on his chest
and feeling the breathing rhythms of his love.
Eventually, they got up and got dressed in clean clothes. They both felt
wonderful and all of Key's worries had left him. The truth was the truth;
there was no shame to feel; he had made the right choice.
After a long, lingering kiss, during which Key could not stop his hands
caressing Ghost's body, they made their way to the dining hall. As they
picked out their food, 'Lots of fish,' Key though to himself with some
pleasure, they heard someone call them over.
<Tag! to however wants to be introduced to the new arrivals>
NRPG:
Well, these two have certainly 'made up' and so will probably be hideously
contented for a while!!
