Kalewyn
***

>At midday, Dalaine was finally escaping the confines of the med center. She'd
been chafing all morning, anxious to be released, but with one thing and
another, half the day was gone before they'd let her go. The open space of
the green beckoned to her. She twirled around in a dizzying circle,
relishing her newfound freedom. As she spun to a stop, she careened into a
passing rider, who barely caught her before they both went sprawling.
Looking up into his handsome face, she obeyed the sudden impulse and flung
both arms around his neck, her lips meeting his.

Now for Kalewyn to admit to being shocked would have been an understatement.
He felt out for Sabbith to see if it was another mating flight he'd somehow
not noticed. But Sabbith only showed him amusement. <Well .. you're a hunk!>

Kay was not amused, but beginning to respond to the woman's kiss. After all
what man woulnd't when faced with such a passionate kiss. However, this is
what always seemed to get him into trouble, so he fumbled with his arms
trying to extract her as quickly as possible .. which turned out to be
nearly impossibly.

>At that moment, Tara and Jerram returned from Ismene.

>When Varaenna and Seydor, each laden with their riders' belongings, teleported
in over the warren, Tara quickly noticed a ship making it's way slowly
toward Jasra's cove from the open sea. From the look of it, the vessel had
sustained a certain amount of damage. She guessed that it had probably been
caught out in the storm, but she decided not to do anything for now since
it didn't seem to be in any particular trouble. Instead, she directed the
queen to land on the green.

>Tara unstrapped herself and climbed down as soon as the queen had landed.
Jerram did likewise, and they stood for just a moment to take a look around
before starting to unpack the dragons.

>"Well, we're home!" Tara said.

>Then her eyes, settling on the couple embracing on the green, widened instantly
in surprise. "Kay?" she queried in confusion. What was he doing kissing
Lainie?

>Shaking her head, she stalked over to where the two of them lay. Lainie's
back was to her, but the look that Kalewyn gave the Warrenlady was one of
pure confusion.

When he saw the Warrenlady he felt a sweeping of dread. Gods! What must she
think of him. After what he'd told her of Telnor, then after he'd .. well
after they'd .. umm .. oh gods! She must think him a womanizer or worse!

>"Dalaine!" she said, her tone signaling that she meant business. "May I ask
just *what* you are doing?"

Kay was relieved that Tara first turned her wrath on the young woman. It
gave him a chance to extract himself and to try and straighten himself
before he faced her. He groaned as he saw the mud which coated him. He
rubbed at it furiously, only making it worse.

He was almost tempted to just run. Why was it that women seemed to come out
of the woodwork to ruin his life! He had been looking forward to staying
here .. at least for a while. But now ..

<Maybe .. we should leave?> He queried his dragon.

<Oh no, this is much to much fun!> Sabbith chortled.

<Fun! Fun! You have a warped sense of fun, Sabbith!> Kay was more then
annoyed.

<Oh calm down, Varaenna finds it amusing as well. Her rider was horribly
jealous. But now she's angry at the girl.>

<Jealous ..> Kay asked.

<Varaenna says she knows it's not your fault. So stay and talk to her.>

Kay turned back toward Tara and the girl to see Tara still giving her a
talking to.

>"Just imagine what this poor, sweet dragon of yours will have to endure if you
overexert yourself and make yourself sick again - or give yourself
pneumonia from lying out here on the wet ground."

>"See how worried she is about you?" Tara asked. "I think you should go and do
something very nice for her, to make her feel better - something that's not
too strenuous, mind you!"

>"Yes, Tara," she murmured, wriggling to extricate herself from under the other
rider, whose gaze she forced herself to meet. "Sorry," she told him,
resting her hand briefly against his cheek, then called to Selene to follow
her. "I'll make sure to give Selene exactly what she deserves," she vowed
before heading toward the warren, Selene ambling after her.

Kay forced himself to stand still as Tara turned from watching after the
pair to looking at him. He studied her face which to his surprise went from
anger to amusement. She thought it was funny too!

*You are a mess.* She signed.

He glanced down at himself and then realized what it was she found amusing.
It wasn't the situation .. it was him, covered in mud! He looked back up at
her, *I do not know her .. she just came at me .. from nowhere ..*

"Kay you don't have to explain." Tara assured him. Then her lips turned up
into a big smile as she chuckled, "But you may want to go home and .. umm ..
get cleaned up."

Kay returned her smiled and nodded, *Yes .. but will Sabbith let me on his
back like this?*

Tara grinned, "Well, there is always the Ocean."

Kay nodded. He'd forgotten about the ocean. It was a goodly ways from Telnor
to her nearest body of water, the Telnor Sea. *That's a good idea. Thanks.*

Tara nodded and watched as Kay walked toward where Sabbith was sitting,
nuzzling against Varaenna. Kay looked at the queen, <*Are you sure she's not
mad at me?*>

Varaenna shook her great head, <*No, Kalewyn. My rider is not upset with
you. But she might be if you do not ask her to dinner.*>

<Dinner?>

<Excellent idea!> Sabbith chortled. <Ask her to dinner, My Kay!>

<I can't ask her like this .. maybe later ..> he told them.

<*She accepts.*> Varaenna told him.

<What??>

<*I asked her and she accepts.*>

Kay turned to see Tara smile and wave back at him as she continued on her
way. He returned the wave. Well it wasn't that he didn't think having
dinner with her would be nice .. cause it was. But having her dragon ask her
for him .. He sighed, <Come on, Sabbith, let's go take a bath. I have to
look nice for dinner.>

<You are excited about it, My Kay. Don't try to hide it .. not from me.>
Sabbith grinned.

<Sabbith .. let's just go ..> Kay tried to be annoyed, but the fact was, the
crimson dragon was right, and he was elated that she wasn't upset with him,
and that she wanted to have dinner with him!

Regards,
Kalewyn & Sabbith

NRPG: Tag John! Hope you don't mind Tara accepting Varaenna's invite :)

BTW, this is only the first part .. there's more coming. But this is all for
Kay for now :)
