Day 14
A Beautiful, Deserted Island

The sunrise radiated across the horizon. Corwin had never slept so well as
he had that night before. The palm branches covered with seagrass had
cushioned their sandy bed. He had draped his clothes across the grasses for
a smoother bed for the soft, delicate woman who lay beside him.

Sighing, contentedly, he nuzzled her gently.

Elly yawned and stretched, her bright, blue eyes opening, lazily. "Good
morning," she murmured.

"A very good morning, my love," Corwin responded, with the newly risen sun's
light sparkling in his sea-green eyes, a mirror of the foamy waters lapping
at the beach.

They were lost in the moment, embracing, caressing, and recalling the
previous nights love-making, which Corwin would have welcomed repeating.

As they settled into a gentle rhythm, their concentration was disturbed by a
low moaning.

"Iris! Oh, how could I have forgotten you?" Elly cried, pushing Corwin
away.

Corwin sat back, surprised and a bit... frustrated, but then he got an
urgent summons from Syngnath.

<*We are going to miss training, my rider! Jerram is not going to be happy
with us! But ... what about Iris? I can't leave her here!*>

Corwin shrugged and sighed. Reaching for his clothes he called to Elly, who
had gone to be by Iris's side.

"I'll go back to the warren. We'll need some supplies if we're going to
camp out here until Iris can fly enough to teleport back home. And, I
guess I should tell them where we are so that no one is too worried about
you," he grinned, thinking of Elly's large family and what they'd probably
think of him now.

Over Jasra.

Syngnath appeared in the sky, calling to the watchdragons as he circled to
land. As soon as he touched down, Corwin was off his back like a shot. His
first stop was the dining hall, where he was lucky to catch Jerram as he was
finishing his morning coffee. Explaining the situation to him quickly,
Corwin then dashed into the kitchens to ask the cook to pack him some
essential supplies to last a few days. Protein wasn't a problem, since he
and Sy could do some fishing.

His next stop was Tara's office. The Warrenlady looked rather happy when
she greeted him. Her demeanor swiftly changed when Corwin explained about
the mating flight and Iris's subsequent injury.

****
TAG John. Corwin is going to be returning to stay with Elly -- until Iris
can fly.

****
Heading to the medical center, upon Tara's advice, Corwin gathered medical
supplies that D'tagnan said might be useful in treating Iris's condition.
Though Corwin felt fairly certain that Iris would heal fine without them, he
conceded that the draught for pain might come in handy.

Now, all he needed was to get a few changes of clothes, a waterproof
covering, and to run past the dining hall to collect the supplies that Jemma
and Ishtey had promised. All gathered, he returned to Syngnath.

Mid-morning

Elly had been getting anxious, and hungry, while waiting for Corwin to
return. When he did, she was immediately relieved, but her anxiety spilled
over as she gave him a tongue-lashing for taking so long.

Corwin just grinned at the fiery passion of the petite, young woman. "Elly,
but look! I brought ... "

Before he could delineate the items, Elly snatched the satchels eagerly from
his hand and proceeded to go through their contents.

"Here, give this to Iris. D'tagnan says it will ease her discomfort,"
Corwin stated, handing Elly a brown bottle.

"The whole thing?" Elly's eyes widened in surprise.

"Well, Iris is a big girl," Corwin grinned. While Elly dosed her dragon,
Corwin set about preparing breakfast, and setting up camp. His eyes kept
straying to the beautiful, young woman whom he'd be sharing the camp with.
It would be a most pleasant stay.

NRPG: Short, yes... but now you can all react to what's happened to Elly and
Corwin!
