<Day 18 - morning>

Summer had never seen anyone quite like him before, but her
mom had taught her that she should respond to a bow with a curtsey.
She stood in one fluid movement, and ignoring her lack of skirt, made
the move just like moma had taught her. "Good morning, sir. Your
dance was beautiful."

Yasu regarded the young one, smiling at the strange movement she
had performed. He knew that it was usually done when one was wearing
a dress. This culture still surprised him. "Thank you, young
friend. I saw you enter the warren yesterday and I am afraid that I
do not know what to call you."

"My name is Summer," the young girl said, "and who are you?"

"I am called Yasu by the people of the warren, young Summer. Are you
a dragonrider?"

Summed looked momentarily confused, "Maybe. I came with a dragon."

"Ah, then perhaps I shall see you in my training class young Summer,"
Yasu said with a smile.

"What do you teach?" came the inevitable question.

"To use your terms young Summer, I teach them how to dance. The
dance that I teach is different from other dances, though. This
dance helps to protect yourself from others harming you," said Yasu.

"That's a pretty special dance then," commented Summer.

"Yes, it is a very special dance, young Summer. Now if you will
excuse me, I must have my morning tea."

With a respectful bow, Yasu jogged past Summer stopping suddenly as
he heard odd sounds coming from the sea. The waves were not in exact
harmony with each other. Turning around, he spied Corwin atop
Syngath and another dragonrider. He waited until the landed,
whereupon he moved to greet them.

Day 18 afternoon

The morning had gone fairly well with the new trainees slowly
picking up his teachings. They were still fighting against their
natural instincts, but they would soon learn how to control and
adjust them.

Yasu had picked up a staff about four and a half feet in
length, complimenting his short stature well. Starting slowly, he
began spinning the wooden shaft out and around his body. Closing his
eyes, he felt the breeze he created as it whirled. Faster and faster
he spun the staff, all the while remaining blind to the outside,
letting his inner eye guide the movements of the staff. The wind
whispering through the staff became a low hum as the staff looked to
be all about Yasu's body.

"Yasu!" came the greeting of Gus.

The humming suddenly ceased and Yasu's eyes opened, the staff
held in one hand, it's motion completely stopped. Bowing slightly,
he responded, "Good afternoon, young Gus."
