Yasu stood by Jerram, waiting as the armed men charged forward. Jerram
looked at Yasu, who had closed his eyes, a low humming coming from his
mouth, "Yasu, what are you doing?"

"The mounted warriors have an advantage. I am merely evening the odds," he
responded.

As the warriors grew close, Yasu took in a deep breath, the lunged forward,
thrusting his fists in the direction of the fighters. The two lead one were
jolted backwards out of their saddles, tumbling to the ground as if struck.
Opening his eyes, Yasu, turned to Jerram, "Now the odds are better."

The two advanced on the four mounted warriors, the other two scrambling to
pick themselves off of the ground. Yasu, built up his energy again, waiting
as two advanced on him, two on Jerram. A cry behind him told him that
another was coming to the rescue. As the first soldier bore down on him,
Yasu waited for him, watching as the strike came down. At the last moment,
the short man, stepped under and towards the blow, launching himself upward
and into the mounted man, tackling off the horse and to the ground. With a
swift motion, he incapacitated the man, ensuring that he would be out of
commission for the remainder of the battle.

The momentum of the tackle had carried Yasu over by the other two men, who
now had drawn their weapons and were advancing on the robed man.

Taking a quick glance back, he saw that the remaining three mounted
fighters were engaged by Jerram and two others. Turning back to the other
two, he assumed stance, "Friend warriors, I would ask that you place your
weapons down on the ground and cease this conflict. Doing so would be the
preferred method."

The two looked at him, one of them laughing, "I don't think so baldy. You
see, you're just a short, bald man without a weapon."

Yasu cocked his head, "But I managed to strike you from your horses."

The other one laughed, "No way, little man. They were just spooked by
something."

"Then you are a poor horseman indeed, friend warrior," Yasu quipped.

The two warrior closed in on Yasu. The first took a swipe at Yasu's
midsection. Yasu stepped back and fell on his back as the other sword
whistled over where his chest would have been. Rolling back, Yasu struck up
and back with both of his feet, knocking the second attacker backwards. The
first took an overhead chop at Yasu, who stepped into the blow, grabbing the
man's two-handed grip, blocking the attack with his left hand while
delivering a blow to the man's chest with his right, a loud grunt coming
from him.

A yell from behind announced the second fighter's charge, his sword
leading. Yasu stepped aside, the sword barely nicking his side. Wincing,
Yasu let out a shout and drove his fist at the blade. As his fist contacted
the flat of the blade, the metal snapped in two, leaving the first man with
a stub of a sword. He heard the man exclamation of surprise cut short as
his charging momentum carried him into the upraised knee of Yasu, knocking
the wind out of him. A vicious chop to the back of his neck silenced him,
dropping him disabled to the ground.

A clatter told him that the second had lost his will to fight. Turning, he
saw the back of the assailant. He made to go after her when a whistle
followed by a thud dropped him. Turning, he saw a woman holding a sling in
her hand. Yasu bowed to the woman, "I thank you, friend slinger. You have
saved me the time needed to run down the fighter. I am Yasu, a newcomer to
the warren. I am honored to meet another from the warren."
