After speaking with Wynn for a while Minty wandered the Warren  trying to
summon the courage to talk to Guy.  She hadn't seen him since the episode
with V'rdeen, and though she knew he longer held any power over her life she
was still wary of him.  He had a knack of making her feel guilty for
everything, even when she really couldn't be!  Well nothing for it.... it
had to be faced.


When she finally found him she just stood for a while watching him.  For
once he was sober, and Minty hoped he might be reasonable.


"Can I talk to you for a minute, Da?"  Minty was cautious in her approach,
"I came to tell you I'm leaving Keldarra to go to Marrid Warren.  David....."


"It would be David wouldn't it?" Guy said with a sneer  "He says jump, you
ask 'How high?'  He's just using you girl!  Someone better comes along and
he'll be off, mark me.  Don't think to come running back to me when it's all
over between you either.  You're old enough to take care of yourself
now..... get on with it!"  He turned back to his work


"Can't you at least wish me luck, Da?"  Minty asked, tears close to the
surface as they so often were when she spoke to her father  "Please Da? "


"Luck?" he asked without turning  "The only luck you ever brought with you
was bad!  Go on.  You're no loss....."


Sadly Minty turned away, wishing she shared the same kind of closeness as
David did with his family.  Well she'd tried!

"Darlea!"  Minty called , and Darlea stopped to allow her to catch up  "I'm
saying my goodbyes to everyone."


"You've decided to go to Marrid then?"  the other girl asked  "David too?"


Minty nodded.  "He wanted to go, so I'm going with him.  I'm going to miss
you Darlea....."  she gave the other girl a quick hug, and hurried away
before she could cry.

*Kirimith, where's David?*  Minty asked as she started sorting their
possessions. There wasn't much to show for the few months they'd spent in
this apartment, so packing wouldn't take long.  And all the practice she'd
had over the years made her ruthless about what could be replaced and what
was important......


*Kaylin says he's gone to talk to his parents about the move to Marrid.*
Kirimith answered lazily   "Do you think the lake at Marrid will be as warm
as the one here?  I do so love to swim....*


*I'm sure the lake will be just fine, lazy one!  Did Kaylin say how David
was, Kiri?* Minty's thought was anxious


*He's fine, Minty.  You're like a broody Queen with a single egg!  He won't
break, you know.*  Kirimith said, amused by Minty's fuss  *Do you think
we'll be as comfortable at Marrid?*


*Practical as ever!  We'll make it comfortable Kiri!   How will you and
Kaylin'sha feel about being in a place where so many Dragons have died?  We
didn't give much thought to your feelings did we?*  she stopped packing and
went through to be with her Dragon  *Will you be OK, Kiri?  It's not too
late yet....*


*I'll be happy wherever you are Minty.  The loss is sad but we must go on.
There will come a time when we can avenge the deaths!*  the Dragon's resolve
was clear  *There -will- be an accounting.*


Minty hugged Kirimith.


*I'd better get this finished before David gets back!  We -will- be happy at
Marrid Kiri.  I promise!*


*David is on his way here!*  Kirimith's mental chuckle sounded  *Maybe you
should hurry?!.....*


*Ohhh you!*  Minty laughed as she hurriedly finished packing the few things
she intended taking with them   *Just be grateful you only have your hide to
worry about!* She giggled at the thought of Kiri packing.... She was still
giggling when David came in.


"What's so funny?"   he asked in confusion.  He looked around at the
bareness of what had been home, surprised that so much had been done already
"You didn't waste any time did you? I thought you would need more help!"


"I'm used to it."  she said with a shrug  "Everythings done here.  We can
leave whenever you're ready........."
