(DL) And faster we go....

David stalked away from Guy, his mood throughly saturated with anger.
*David?* Kaylin said, the unasked question hanging.

'Et's all right Kay, I'll just eat tonight....' David said, sighing.
'How could anybody treat their children like that?' A slight shiver
passed through his body.

*You wanted to kill him.* Kay said, shocked at such hate.

'I would protect Minty with me life, Kay. And would kill anybody before
they hurt her.' David mentioned, his temper calming. 'Luckily, I have
more self control than I should...'

*I agree. You should wash up for dinner, Minty is waiting for you in the
apartment...*

David nodded, getting a faint picture from Kaylin. It was of Kirimith.
He chuckled, shaking his head in amusement. 'Es that all ye think about?'

*Good, you are laughing again. And yes, it is.... besides you.* Kaylin
said, trying to sound board.

'Come pick me up, Kay. I need t'go home.' David said, and waited for the
huge black dragon to retreive him.

NRPG: Les: I assume that David and Minty have allready found an
             apartment to house them.

********** SCENE: Apartment **************

David landed, and walked inside quietly. He didn't want to face Minty
right then. The scene with her father had made him uneasy, and she might
not like the way he treated him. Sneaking into the bedroom to wash up,
he felt soft hands curl around his body. 'Damn....' He thought, and
turned around with a managed smile. 'Hello, love. How's been yer day?'

She looked at him quizically, and replied a quick 'fine'. He nodded, and
kissed her deeply. "Quite a busy day, eh? So much excitement, with the
caravan and all."

Minty told of her account with the travelers, and added that she had met
with her father. "He wasn't very thrilled when I told him about you...."

"Aye, I know..." David mumbled, and sat down. A headache had come on and
was pounding at his temples.

"Hmmm...?" Minty said, sitting beside him. "Are you all right?"

"Yes." David said hastily, "I'm fine. We really should be getting ready
for dinner...."

Minty shook her head and looked at David sternly. "Something happened
today. I can tell."

David tried to keep a straight face, and then laughed quietly. "Ye know
I would never hide something from ye. Just as you would never do the
same with me..." David said, and hugged Minty closer. "Your father
tracked me down today outside the dining hall. We had a bad argument..."
David recanted the yelling match, and what had happened.

NRPG: Les, if you would finish? ;)

********* SCENE: Later in the evening ************

Taking Kaylin, David and Minty mounted the dragon and took off for his
parents quarters. Minty looked extremely nervous, and David nuzzled at
her neck. "Ye don't have t'be scared. They don't bite."

Minty laughed and nodded. "I know, but it still doesn't quell the
butterflies in my stomache. I'll be fine."

David left it at that, but massaged her shoulder lightly to help relieve
her stress, and his. Landing outside, David bid Kaylin goodbye and he
knocked at the huge oak door. The smell of cooking wafted out from the
open windows, and brought a grumble from David's belly. Minty laughed
and made a remark of how David was always hungry. Ready to retort, the
door opened to expose a smiling man with greying reddish hair.

"Ah, ye be a little early, ye two..." Ames said, and hugged David.
Looking at Minty, he bowed deeply. "And this must be Araminta. Such a
beautiful name, that. David has talked much about ye."

Minty looked very shy, and she managed a small smile. "I hope none of it
was bad..." She said, just above a whisper. Ames laughed and gave the
young woman a big hug.

"Ye have no need t'be shy! Come en, come en...." Ames said, stepping
aside letting the flustered couple through. As David passed him, Ames
elbowed him in the ribs lightly, and whispered in his ear. "If I were
just a few years younger...." David elbowed him back and shook his
head. It was going to be a tortureous night.

>From the kitchen came David's mother, hearing all the commotion caused by
her husband. Seeing the two, she sighed and kissed David on the cheek.
"Ah, et reminds me o'te'time I met Ames. Although I believe David es
much more handsome...." Ames made a disgruntled sound, and Minty let out
a giggle. Khi looked at her and smiled warmly. "Welcome t'our home,
Araminta. I hope that old brute over there hasn't scared ye."

Ames laughed and called for David's siblings. Minty shook her head, a
little more confident now. Khi seemed to radiate that comforting
feeling most mothers had around them. "Ye must hear some o'te'stories
about David when he was a young lad. Got into trouble, that one." She
said, with a playful wink at her son. "Please, sit down and make
yerselves at home."

Khi went back to the kitchen, followed by Ames. Minty made a confused
look and David explained. "They share the cooking, although me mum es
much better at et." Suddenly there were three smiling faces infront of
them, looking eagerly at the couple. David smiled and introduced Minty.
"These be me insufferable kin. Samael, Robyn, and Lowery." He said,
motioning from left to right. Looking back at them, he wondered why they
were being so quiet. "And what sort o'mischief are ye all into?" Samael
smiled evily, and looked to Robyn. The youngest looked over to Minty and
explained.

"We were told t'keep an eye on ye, and t'embarrass David at every
opprotunity..." She said, a playful glimmer in her eyes.

Minty laughed and inquired. "And what are these stories I keep hearing
about?"

David mouthed a 'no' to Samael, but his younger brother just grinned
wider as he went off on a sleu of stories. "Once, where David was about
ten, he was climbing a tree outside, and tried to see if he could get some
honey from a bee hive on a ledge...." David moaned in embarrassment as
the conclusion hit home, and Minty laughed along with his siblings. She
looked over to David and kissed him lightly on the cheek, "I always
wondered why you had a big scar on your behind...."

David just about sank into the cushions. "Please, not infront
o'te'children..."

But his sisters were already giggleing and Samael gave David a coy smile,
shaking his head. Ames came out, and announced dinner. The rest of the
meal went well for Minty, if not so much for David, being the butt of
many jokes. She seemed to graduly lose her shyness, and even recounted
the story of how they met. As the night wound down, finally David called
for Kaylin to pick them up. Even his dragon seemed to laugh at him,
smiling one of those many toothy dragon-smiles at him as he landed.

Returning to their abode, Minty gave David a huge hug. "Your family is
so friendly, love. I look forward to seeing them again."

David dismounted, and slumped his shoulders after helping Minty down.
"It was tortue...."

Minty laughed and kissed her love deeply. "I have a way to sheer you
up..." She said, a seductive tinge taking hold of her voice. David
perked up and looked at her. "And what have ye in mind?"

Minty just walked pat him towards the bedroom and winked at him. Maybe
this night wouldn't be so bad, after all..

NRPG: LEs, feel free to recount Minty's reations to the evening. (PIMPLOL)

********** SCENE: A few months later, the hatching **************

The next few months went without much action. David fell into a
routine of praticing his fighting in the morning as well as Kaylin's
battle maneuvers, helping work on the new guild at a forge in the
afternoon, and having dinner with Minty and some friends at night.

He had heard some of the things about V'rdeen, and Minty's father seemed
to be loosening up. All in all, it was pretty boring. David craved for
a little action, and got it when the hatching began.

*David, the hatching has begun. Hurry, or you will miss it!* Kaylin was
all in a flurry, and David gave a last hit on a piece of iron he was
pounding into shape. Telling someone that he was leaving, David ran to
meet Kaylin at the edge of the work area. 'I hope I'm not too late.'
David remarked as he mounted his dragon. Kaylin shook his head as he
took off, flying quickly towards the hatching grounds. Everybody was
already there, and as David sat beside Minty, half the dragons had joined.

Putting his arm around his love, David found that she was crying. He
knew how she felt, and the sight of all the joy from the newly joined
brought back the hapinees he had felt when he was down on the hot sands
lineing the grounds. It was a sight to behold....
