(DL) Over a month, and slightly after

NRPG: Forgive me, I'm trying to remember how some things went, if I
screw up..well, shoot me. *grin* Really, today was HORRIBLE (and it was
my day off, too), and I'm hoping posting will help me.

RPG: Over a Month

Michel and Carie had been hanging out around the warren, working with the
different folk that had been there. Michel had spent a week talking with
the Blademaster, and was going to buy a Sword and start learning to work
with it. Training would be long and hard, but it could be done easily.
Paranth still flew for the mating flights that occured, but had yet to
win one. He wasn't worried however, his time would come, and when it
did, he almost felt sorry for his human.

Michel other time was devoted to studying any history he could find on
the man named Malk Bromitz. He knew that Keldarra hadn't seen the last
of him, and when he reappeared, Michel would be there.

One morning, bright and early, Paranth awoke Michel.

*Michel, something isn't right...you feel..different*

"Explain, bud, I don't know what you're talking about."

*It's....It's like you're...whole again*

Michel thought for a minute, and closed his right eye. Out of the
corners of the Eyepatch, he thought he could see light.

"Must be a trick of my imagination," he thought

*Take the patch off anyways...* His dragon muttered back.

Michel took off the patch, and was dumbstruck. His eye was back. Fully
healed, by the feel of it, and by the way he could see. The rest of the
day he spent in a stupor, wandering around, talking to the others in
Gamma about how amazing it was. Then, he decided to have a talk with
Almiron about it.

Finally, after a while had elapsed, he heard Paranth's voice in his head.

*Come, Michel, they are hatching!*

And they went to the hatching.

Carie had been having her normal problems since arriving at the Warren in
the first place. Now, she heard that the Dragonlady wanted to see her.

"Great, what've I done now."

She walked in, and started speaking.

"Hello, Carie..I realize we haven't been able to speak much since your
arrival, but..I want you to be a candidate for the next Hatching"

Carie paused, amazed. After all that had happened, after how much this
had changed hers and Michel's lives, she was now being asked to step into
the insanity as well.

"I'm sorry, Dragonlady, but I cannot. Since coming here, I've been
constanly worried about my brother. I do not wish for my life to become
any more complicated than it already is, and therefore would not like to
be a candidate."

Christalla looked amazed. Not many had refused the honor of being a
Hatchling candidate, and Carie showed the affinity very strongly.

"It is not our way to force someone to do something they do not wish to
do. If you do not wish to stand on the sands as a candidate, then we
shall not force you to. However, I will warn you that if you are a
chosen for this hatching, there is naught that can be done for that."

Carie nodded. She knew she wasn't going to be a Dragonrider. Fate
wouldn't be so unkind to her.

The rest of the month passed by slowly, with not much happening.

The Morning Of The Hatching-

Carie woke up early, and had headed out for some breakfast. On her way,
she was accosted by a man she had seen hanging around some of the other
girls.

"Hello, My pretty, who are you?"

"Carie," she said, quickly, "Is there something you want?"

"Why, only you." he replied.

"Get used to disappointment," she said walking away.

"Wait," he said, grabbing her arm roughly.

She spun around, kicking the man quickly to the groin. He stumbled, and
backhanded her, sending her sprawling to the ground. She got up, and
circled, with the Man watching her every move. The fistfight went on for
several minutes, ending when both had taken several shots, and the Man
had climbed onto a Red Dragon that had arrived, and flew away, shrieking...

"That's fine. You'll regret not getting to know me better. Not now,
but, Eventually. Especially if you bond to a Dragon," he said with a
sickening smile.

'Yea, right, like that's gonna happen' Carie thought. Then she heard the
trumpeting. She went to the chamber where the onlookers sat. As she got
there, Dragons were flying in from everywhere. The first joining
occured, and then Chaos broke out. Carie wondered briefly what it had
been like for her Brother, what his thoughts were at the time, whether he
had thought it a waste of time or not. She glanced over at the Dragonlady.

"Good. Nothing. I told them this was pointless.." she thought.

*Carie*

Carie froze, a tear coming to her eye. She looked around, and locked
eyes with the Metallic Egg, where a tiny Blue Dragon was looking toward her.

*Carie, please, I need food. Please help me.*

Carie, very slowly, got out of the seat, and started walking. When she
got to the Dragon, she bent down, hugging the Dragon.

"Her name is Fiera," she said out loud, but not yelling, an obvious
quiver in her voice.
