Saul (Whiteriver Warren)

>"You've heard about the man and little girl Cali and Titania found on
patrol yesterday?" Trinale asked.

>Saul nodded. "I heard they were in pretty bad condition" He said.

>"Yes, especially the little girl. The man woke up yesterday and he appears
not to speak our language. He also looks different. I think this is
something that needs to be brought to the attention of the DragonLady at
Keldarra. I would like you to go and inform her if you will, please" Trinale
requested.

"Of course, Trinale. I would like to see the man first, so I have a better
idea of what to tell the DragonLady." Saul said.

"That's a good idea. I'd really like to send him with you. But I'm not sure
he's stable enough for a teleport to Keldarra"

"I'll ask B'ril." Saul told her. "Is there anything else I can do for you
since I'm up?"

Trinale grinned mischievously at the older man, "Just seeing your face this
early is enough, Saul. I'm not sure morning agrees with you."

Saul let out a guffaw, "No, little blossom, it does not! But for you .."

Trinale chuckled, "Don't try that with me, sir. I know what you told Fayloth
this morning."

<Fayloth, you told her!>

The dragon didn't answer, simply chuckling as his response.

Saul groaned, "That talent you have gets me into more trouble .." He bowed
to the young Warrenlady and headed toward the medical center.

****

Saul walked into the medical center and spotted the head healer right away.
"B'ril!" he called.

The man turned around, "What's wrong, Saul?"

"I'm here to check on the man Cali brought in yesterday morning."

"He doing very well, considering. I'm very concerned about the little girl,
though."

"Can I see him?"

"Of course, this way." B'ril headed down the hall with Saul close on his
heels. When they entered the room where the man and the little girl were
staying, the man looked up. Saul had never seen anyone like him. He was very
foreign looking, with dark-skin and almond shaped eyes.

Nodded to the man, "Hello, sir. I am Saul," he said pointed to himself, "Saul."

"Sol?" asked the man. Then he pointed at himself, "Qedhar."

"I'm glad to meet you, Qedhar." Saul turned to B'ril who was still standing
behind him. "How is his condition? He looks pretty good. Do you think he'd
be up to a teleport to Keldarra to see the DragonLady?"

B'ril frowned, "Well, he probably is, but I'm not sure he'll want to leave
the little girl."

Saul nodded, "I understand, but I think it would make more sense to the
DragonLady if she could see him. That and his sword I've heard so much about."

"Oh, yes. That thing gives me the creeps. I'll be glad to see it gone."
B'ril looked at the man who was torn between watching the girl and watching
the two men. "Very well, he should be fine. Just be careful."

<Fayloth, use that talent of Trinale's and tell her we'll be taking Qedhar
with us.> Saul said, wanting to make sure Trinale knew they were taking the man.

<Of course, my rider. I enjoy talking to the young queenrider.> The dragon
chuckled.

Saul grinned at B'ril and turned to the man, "I'd like you to come with me."
He said motioning toward the door, "There's someone I'd like you to meet."

The man looked warily at Saul, then looked at the little girl. Saul
understood he was concerned for the girl. "B'ril will take good care of her.
And I'll bring you back as soon as I can."

The man caressed the girls head, then nodded to Saul and stood to follow him.

<Fayloth meet us outside the medical building. I don't want the man to have
to walk too far.>

<I will be waiting.>

Saul took the man's arm to help him as he was still weak, and led him out to
where the brilliant blue dragon was waiting as he had promised. The man
raised his eyes to the dragon and Saul felt him falter. Had Saul not been
holding his arm the man might have fallen to the ground. The man's eyes were
open wide in astonishment as the sight before him.

<I don't think he's ever seen a dragon, Fayloth> said Saul a bit surprised.

<I am an impressive sight!> Crooned the dragon rearing up his head and
bellowing loudly.

<Oh great, scare him so he won't ride with us. Now stop it!>

Fayloth looked at his rider looking about as sheepish as a dragon could.
Saul pulled Qedhar toward the dragon. The man followed compliantly, though
his eyes were filled with fear.

Saul helped him onto the dragon's back and strapped him in the front of the
saddle, then took the seat behind him. Within seconds Fayloth had launched
himself into the air and vanished as he teleported to Keldarra.

****
Saul stood in front of the DragonLady's door with Qedhar beside him and knocked.

"Come in," she called.

Opening the door, still helping to hold up Qedhar, Saul entered the
DragonLady's office smiling warmly. "M'lady. I am Saul, of Whiteriver.
Trinale has sent me to speak to you about an urgent matter."
