Darlea climbed on Makayla's back, <Let's go to Daere first.> she told the
dragon. She was a bit concerned about actually going to see King Jaldor,
even if it was on official business of the Dragonlady.

<I don't want to got to Daere.> Makayla grumbled. <The dragons are all very
depressed over the loss of their oldest and most venerated queen.>

<I know, deary. But we must. Not all of our journey's will be trips for
your pleasure.>

Makayla hrmphed and launched herself into the air. <Will we at least stay
the night with Darshan tonight then.> the delicate green dragon asked
hopefully.

<Makayla!> Darlea admonished.

<I know you would like to ..>

<That doesn't matter .. not right now. Almiron and I have things to work
out first.>

<It doesn't make any sense to me.> Makayla said

<Let's discuss this later, please. We have things to do.> Darlea pushed the
thoughts of the previous night from her head. 

She and Makayla pictured the skies over Daere Warren, with it's vast acres
of farmland. Darlea closed her eyes, and when she reopened them, the vision
they had picture before was in front of them..

<They are all so sad, Darlea-pet,> Makayla moped.

<I know, Makayla. But remember this is our job, now.>

<And after this we have to go see that awful King Jaldor. There aren't even
any dragons there!>

<No, no, Makayla. Reolden and Trendal are there now.>

Makayla brightened at the thought of seeing her hatchmate again. With all
the time the pair had spent Ralengarde, she had not seen him in a very long
time.

The two settled down on the green. <Queen Viktroy says her rider is in her
office.> the little green dragon told her rider.

<Thank you, deary. I shall return soon.>

Makayla laid her head down on the soft grass to wait for her rider. Darlea
headed to Jayleigh's office. She entered when she heard the woman call,
"Come in."

Darlea pushed the door open slowly and bowed to the new Warrenlady of Daere
Warren. "Good morning, Lady Jayleigh. I am Darlea of Keldarra, the
Dragonlady's courier." Darlea was amazed how easily the words fell off her
lips, despite the fact she'd only held the post for less then an hour.

The tall woman smiled politely at the young girl, "Welcome to Daere, Darlea."

"The Dragonlady has asked me to ask you to visit her at Keldarra at your
earliest convenience."

"I have not forgotten," Jayleigh said. "I will come to Keldarra as soon as
my duties for the funeral are complete."

"She will appreciate that, m'lady."

"I would offer you Daere's hospitality, but I'm afraid, none of us are
feeling very hospitable at the moment." A sad smile crossed the woman's face.

Darlea nodded, her blue eyes looking at the Warrenlady sadly, "I
understand. I have other errands to run for the Dragonlady, anyway. But I
thank you for the thought."

Darlea bowed once again and exited the office on her way back to Makayla
and then on to Ralengarde.
