(DL) Awakenings.....

The faint smell of food wafted through the air, drifting into
David's nose causeing his stomach to growl loudly. Sitting up slowly, he
held his head tenderly. 'My god, et feels like I've got a hangover.' He
thought miserably.
*You will be fine* a voice said answering him.
David jumped and looked around. There was no one in the room,
yet someone had spoken.
*It's me, Kaylin* it answered with a playful tone.
David nodded and smiled, his headache drifting away. 'Yes,
Kaylin'sha. Good morning.' He called out.
		*Good morning...you are hungry*
		'Aye, that I am'
*Come and eat. Your father and I have already.*
'Coming' David replied and crawled out of bed. Just as he got
his breeches on, a man walked into the room.
"Ah, it seems our patient is up and about." He said with a smile.
"And I judge he is hungey too?"
"Aye, sir. Where are the other new Dragonriders at?" David
asked as he donned his other clothes, witch for some odd reason were
washed and folded neatly beside his bed.
"Well, before you go, I have to make sure you are all right."
the man insisted, and motioned for David to dit back down on the bed.
Shrugging, David did as he was told. The checkup was routine, and
afterwards, the healer slapped David on the back.
"As far as I can tell, you are fine, if not a bit hungry. But
how did you come by to be so strong? Not many in the warren have arms
like yours." He inquired.
"Try workin' at a hot forge fer seven years." David said
blandly. To him it was an everyday occurance. He put on his clothes and
strapped his swords to his side, making sure everything was neat. Tieing
his hair back with a leather strip, David bid the healer good day and
left the medical rooms.
After he walked outside, he looked around at the immence caverns,
and realized he hadn't given the healer time to answer his question.
Sighing, he looked at three huge passageways going in diferent
directions. People were scurrying from place to place, obviously in some
importance, so he didn't bother them.
*Where are you?* Kaylin asked, a little annoyed.
Ah, it would take some time to get used to that. 'I am lost.
How d' I find ye?' David thought, embarressed.
*Just use your senses* the dragonling replied,
confused that the human didn't know this already.
'Ok. But I be a wee bit new t' this.' David
answered back, and concentrated on Kaylin. He could sense him in the
back of his mind, like a beacon. It was a comforting feeling, a oneness
fulfilled. David used this and went on his way through the immence
warren. He dodged people left and right while following winding tunnels
and caverns. Finally, David came to the new dragonriders quarters. All
the searchlings who found dragons the night before would be in there
eating.
He opened the door, and walked inside. Everyone was there
allright, most finished having breakfast. Some looked over to him. He
didn't know many of the faces, but he saw Evelle and blushed. She had
found her queen. She waved hi to him, and he returned it, bowing
slightly. 'Kaylin, who es the dragon with Evelle?' He said, looking
around for Kaylin and his father.
*Her name is Alicynth.* Kaylin said, *We are over to
your right*
David looked to the right and saw Ames holding Kaylin'sha, unaware that
David was there. David grinned and walked over to him.
"Mornin' da." He said, slugging him on the shoulder. Ames turned
around and looked at David, suddenly recognising him.
"David!!" Ames cried, worry turning to joy. "Are ye all right
son?" Ames was tired, and it showed that he hadn't slept all night.
Just the fact that David snuck up on him proved that.
"I be fine da. Confused, but fine." David laughed. "I still
dont know what happened."
*You can talk to all dragons*
David looked and Kaylin, and it seemed the small dragonling was
grinning at him, although that was impossible.
"Kalin ere' says that I can talk t' all dragons. That would
explain all the blasted voices en me head last night." David shrugged.
Ames nodded and hugged the young man.
"It's good that ye be all right." He said. "I think Kaylin
want's t' spend some time with ye."
David nodded and took the dragonling from Ames. He was heavier
than last time, though it had only been one night. But not too heavy for
David. 'And how are ye this morn?' He asked the dragon who was squirming
in David's arms, keening happily.
*I am fine. You are hungry, eat*
David hugged the dragon closely, and put him down to get a bowl
of grain and some milk. When he sat at a nearby table, Kaylin crawled up
next to him. David tickled his belly, receiving happy chirps, while he
ate enough for two people. Ames put a hand on Davids shoulder.
"I have t' go and see Christalla about some buisness. Ye be on
ye best behavior." He said.
"Aye da, I will." David replied, pauseing in his eating for a
second. Ames nodded in approval and left the chambers.
'So I can really talk wit' other dragons?' David asked Kaylin.
*Yes. Try with Alisynth.* Was the dragons reply.
David concentrated on Alisynth, and thought....
'Alisynth, can ye tell Evelle good mornin' for me?'
*Yes I can, David* was the answering thought.
