(DL) Early in the morn...

David woke up early in the morning, unable to sleep with the excitment of
riding his own Kaylin'sha that morning. He looked over to the onyx black
dragon, hidden in the shadows except for the gray flecks shineing dully with
the dim oil lamps. He had grown again, almost triple his size of yesterday.
His breathing was light and faint images flashed across David's mind. Kaylin
was asleep still.
Streaching, he silently got up from the bed and put on a fresh pair of
clothes. He looked at his uniform, and decided to dress more like a civilian
instead. Donning a grey sleveless shirt and black pants, he laced up a pair
of black boots and clipped on his belt. Tieing his hair back, he strapped on
a sword and knife. Whispering in Kaylin's ear, the Dragon streached its neck
and looked sleepily at David.

'Are ye Ready for a swim?' David asked, grinning.
*'I' am ready for sleep* The Dragon said, hiding its head under one wing.
David chuckled. 'Wake up ye sleepyhead, or I'll wake ye for for ya.'
The Dragon grumbled and stood, almost hitting his head on the ceiling.
*We must find a bigger place to sleep*
'We will when we are en the air today' David thought. 'Right now we be goin
swimming and watching a sunrise.'
Kaylin nodded and followed David out of the barracks. They took the empty
hallways towards the lake he had met Evelle at the day before. With just the
thought, David blushed.
*I will never understand why you do that* Kaylin chuckled, nudgeing David
slightly.
David shook his head and walked on, ignoreing the question.
Finally the lake stood infront of them. The sky still shone with stars, yet
the sun would appear soon, and turn the lake to fire. David stripped and
Kaylin went out to test the water.
*Et's warm* He said. David laid out some oil and cloths for after the swim
beside his clothes. 'Good. It will relax me muscles from last night.'
David waded into the luke warm water, letting it slowly coat his body.
Submergeing under and coming up, David untied his hair and let out a sigh.
Kaylin was floating on the surface, watching his rider.
'Et feels great Kay' He said, looking over to his dragon. Kaylin nodded and
went under himself. David waited for him to come up, and the black dragon
didn't. David became nervous, and thought out....
'Kay, where are ye?'
He looked around, yet the water remained black, unbroken. A small ripple
slapped against his, and David froze. Spinning around, he splashed water up
towards Kaylin's face. Kaylin roared with suprise and shook the water from
his face.
'Ah, ye think ye can sneak up on me, eh?' David thought laughing.
*It was worth a try." Kaylin sent, and flung a wave of water at David in
rebutal. David landed with a splash and Kaylin barked with laughter.
The two spent the morning in the water, watching the rising sun turn the
lake to liquid fire. When the sun was over the mountains, David climbed
onto shore and oiled Kaylin down for the day. The dragon was huge,
towering a good 10 feet in the air, the massive wings ready for long term
flying. Kaylin purred in delight as David scratched his belly and chin.
After a while of sunning themselves, David and Kaylin's stomaches growled
at the same time.
They both laughed.
'We should be heading to the kitchens for breakfast, Kay.' David thought.
Kaylin nodded in agreement.

As they approached the kitchens, David saw the rest of the new riders
with Hedda. He waved and got a return as he joined them, and entered the
mess hall. He retrieved some food for Kaylin and went to sit at the
table. He entered mild coversation with those around him, yet kept his
thoughts to himself and Kaylin. Suddenly he heard a cry and he saw
Araminta run into the room, her dragon Makalya hovering over her
protectivly. Wynn and Evelle went over to her to ask what was wrong.
Interested, he extented his thoughts to include Makalya.
Hearing Minty's story, he felt concern for her, but knew it was not his
place to intervene. Evelle walked off and after a while, Araminta did
also. Wynn stood and watched the girl leave, scratching his chin.
David, finished with his meal, walked over to him.

"Strange girl, too proud maybe..." He said as he approched. "Et es
understandable what she es going through though." Wynn gave a small jump
to the sound of David voice. He was lost in his own thoughts. "How did
you know?" Wynn asked turning to face him. David smiled and pointed to his
temple. "I hear things no'one else does." Wynn nodded. "So you are the
one. The empath." "Aye," David said, "that be me."
