(DL) The day of flight

NRPG: Alrighty, a couple of notes. As you can probably guess, this is a
fairly long post, and hopefully it doesn't jump around enough to lose
anyone. There were just a lot of loose ends I wanted to get to. Also,
the last bit gets a bit steamy, so the young, old and faint of heart have
been duely warned. Now, on to the fun!

RPG:

Scene: The barracks

"So you are the one." Wynn said, eying the young man that had
come up to him. "The empath."

"Aye, that be me." David responded with his strange accent. He
held his hand out to Wynn. "David Swordson, at ye service."

Wynn took his hand, and the two shook firmly. "Wynn." He
replied. "Swordson? Of the Guild of Swords?"

David nodded, "Aye, came with me Da to talk to the Dragonlady,
and now find meself a dragonrider." He said proudly.

"I myself was surprised at my own joining." Wynn said, as in
the distance a bell rang, announcing breakfast. Wynn escorted the
younger man to the dining hall. "It's been a strange hatching this time."

"Really now?" David said in his strange accent. "In what
way?" The two entered into the large dining hall, where a number of
other dragonriders and Warrenfold gathered for the first meal of the day.

"It just seems that a large number of the landbound bonded at
this hatching. A year ago only one such person found his dragon. The
last hatching had not proven fruitful at all. One dragonnet even went
wild. And to think amongst all that a Queen was born as well."

David nodded, understanding the strangeness of it. "Were ye
born here at the Warren?" David asked, sitting himself down beside
Wynn, their meals before them.

"No, I was brought here six years ago by the Dragonlady
herself. But it is my home now, for good or for naught."

"Ah, that is good. I'm finding I like it here at the Warren.
I've travelled a wee bit before, and let me tell ye that there are worse
places to be." David took a large bite of bread, followed by a long
draught of water. "I'm sure you'll be bored of them soon enough of me
telling 'em." He joked with a warm smile.

"I'm sure they'll be interesting enough the first time around."
Wynn responded in the same spirit, a brief smile on his face.

They fell silent as they both noticed Aleta enter leading M'Tan
towards an empty seat. The dragonrider's wounds were still bandaged,
and every step he took appeared to be one of pain. Evelle's words of
the night before came back to Wynn, the concerned look on her face as
clear to him as it was then. Despite the glorious feeling he got from
Bonding to his Malekith, he would have to remember that neither he nor
Malekith were made invulnerable by it. M'Tan was proof enough of that.
And he found that he agreed with Evelle's fears that the recent wraith
attack was but one of many. He hoped he would be ready for when he went
into battle.

Scene: Outside the barracks, some time later

Wynn paced nervously outside the barracks. What if things went
wrong? They already had, and all because of him. For Evelle's sake,
but more for his own sake, he had to do this.

"Wynn?" A familiar voice called from behind, and Wynn turned
around quickly to face the one who came to him.

"S'brogh." He said quietly. Wynn had sent word through
Malekith to S'brogh's dragon Iganeth that he had wanted to meet Evelle's
brother. It seemed that he wanted to meet Wynn as well.

S'brogh smiled easily, all within his family were as open and
friendly as he was. S'brogh stepped forward and clasped Wynn's forearm
in a greeting of Warriors and of Friends. Wynn responded in kind. "I
have missed you, brother." S'brogh said, his eyes gleaming.

Wynn smiled at the memory. When Wynn first arrived, he had no
family or friends to call his own. S'brogh had told the new boy that he
would gladly be his brother if Wynn would be his. Something about an
annoying sister at the time, if Wynn remembered correctly. <Don't you
dare tell Evelle that, Malekith.> Wynn sent quickly.

Wynn's attention turned back to S'brogh, and his smile
dropped. "I am sorry, S'brogh."

"For what, this is a time of rejoicing Wynn, not regret."

Wynn turned slightly, pacing a small distance away. "I am sorry
that I haven't been a better friend. I had become so lost in my own
petty sorrow, that I forgot what I had around me." Wynn said quietly.
It was the truth, and it hurt him deeply to come to this realization.

A firm hand landed on his shoulder. "Wynn, that is the past
now." S'brogh turned his friend back towards him. "It is the future
you need to care for. The question is, will you continue to wallow, or
return to us?"

Wynn stared at the ground for the longest time, his thoughts a
wild chaos. "If you will have me." He whispered.

Wynn found himself embraced in a fierce bearhug, hefted off the
ground. "Hoho! Enough of that now, of course we'll have you!" S'brogh
said loudly, a large infectious smile on his face. He placed Wynn back
down on the ground. "Brother." He said affectionately. He did miss
his friend, more than he even realized.

        "Brother." Wynn replied.

"Evelle has spoken almost as much about you as she has Alicynth
whenever we get the chance to talk." S'brogh mentioned.

Wynn blushed at that, and it was not missed by S'brogh. "It's
about time, you know. She's had her eye on you for quite a while now."

"I think I've been too lost in myself to have noticed before.
How did she get to become so beautiful?" Wynn asked.

S'brogh laughed. "It runs in the family, my friend, all of us
have it, you know."

Wynn eyed his friend. "I'd rather Evelle over you any day,
brother." He said with a wide smile.

"Do not worry, I'd prefer it that way as well." S'brogh
quipped. "I couldn't imagine a finer match. Except one, there is a
young girl from Beta Wing that is the most charming I had ever seen, and
I do believe she has an eye for me." S'brogh said wistfully.

Wynn's thoughts turned to Evelle. She had hoped to meet with
him later today at Lake Sharrel. The day was turning out quite well
indeed. His thoughts turned to the day he spied her in the Lake, then
to lasat night and her lips upon his.

"So when do I get to see this strapping young dragon of yours?"
S'Brogh asked after a moment, bringing Wynn back to the present.

"Are you free now? You should see him, he is a most beautiful
dragon." Wynn said, the smile on his face refused to go away, and for
once he did not feel that it should.

S'Brogh nodded, and Wynn turned towards in the direction where
his dragon lay. <Malekith, please come meet a dear friend of mine.>

Scene: A bit later, on the training fields

Malekith ate his meal quietly, with little triumph, pulling a
chunk of meat from the carcass beneath his forelimbs. <You don't seem
happy, little one.> Wynn sent from afar.

<There was no challenge to it, no skill involved. It would be
like you using a sword against one without.> The dragon replied,
swallowing thoughtfully.

<When you are strong enough, we will hunt together. For now,
eat all you can, especially if you keep growing as you do.>

Malekith grudgingly agreed, pulling another hunk of meat off
from the bones. Soon, both dragon and rider were together again, Wynn
following M'ressen's instructions on how to properly saddle a dragon.
"How does it feel?" Wynn asked worriedly as he began to tighten the
straps abound Malekith's sleek scales.

<Astonishing. I had thought for sure that this would prove at
least mildly discomforting. As it is, I barely feel a thing.> Malekith
nuzzled Wynn playfully. <Best make sure the straps are tight. It would
be most terrible should you fall.>

"I am afraid of tying them too tight."

<Do not worry, I will tell you if they are.> Malekith said
reassuringly.

With the final buckle securely tightened, Wynn carefully climbed
onto Malekith's shoulders. He patted the dragon's neck affectionately.
"If I become too heavy, tell me."

Malekith looked back over his shoulder to his human. <I am
stronger than you think.>

"I don't doubt it. Let us fly, little one." Wynn felt Malekith
crouch beneath him before launching the both of them into the air. What
glory! Malekith's wings sliced powerfully and gracefully through the
air. The wind pushed past Wynn's face, his hair lifted by the air as
they flew tight circles over the training field. There was little he
could think of that was as wonderful as this.

Scene: Late afternoon at Lake Sharrel

Evelle rubbed Alicynth's nose gently. She hoped the Wynn would
arrive, though knowing how M'ressan liked to talk, who knew when the
trainees would be done for the day. <You like the boy, then why are you
so hesitant?> The copper-gold dragon asked calmly, enjoying Evelle's
attention immensely.

<Because I care for him so much. I don't want to push him too
far.>

Alicynth shook her large head, then rubbed gently against
Evelle. <You humans can be so silly sometimes.> She sent, then raised
her head. <They are coming.> Alicyth said excitedly.

Evelle turned and saw the two of them walk around the final bend
in the path. Evelle waited excitedly, her gift hidden behind her. She
received a smile and a wave, and Wynn ran over to her. Evelle suddenly
found herself lifted off the ground as Wynn picked her up. "It was so
wonderful, Evelle, to fly with Malekith!" He said happily. She
giggled, and Wynn suddenly realized what he had done. He had just been
so happy, and Evelle was the first he had a chance to talk to.

"I know, I flew today as well." She replied, a bit disappointed
as he let her down and stepped back respectfully. "I'm so glad you
came, I was thinking that M'ressan would keep you forever."

Wynn nodded, "Almost did, but he is a good teacher."

The two dragons suddenly launched themselves into the air,
flying an intricate pattern around each other as they played in the
air. Evelle laughed lightly, looking upwards at the two. "Looks like
they enjoy each other's company." Wynn said, looking upwards as well,
watching as Malekith spiraled downwards in a dive, splashing cleanly
into the water. Alicynth soon followed with an elegant dive of her own.

"I'm glad that they do." Evelle said, taking one final look out
over the water before turning her gaze back to Wynn. "I ... I have
something for you."

Wynn looked back at her, surprised to see a bit of shyness
spring from her. She looked beautiful. "For me?"

Evelle nodded, and presented the belt to him, holding it in both
her hands. Wynn looked down, his eyes growing wide. "It's ...
beautiful, Evelle. Thank you." He took the leather belt gently from
her hands, holding it closer to look at the intricate details.

"I was hoping you would like it. We have another visiter to the
Warren, a leatherworker."

"With workmanship like this, he'll be out of wares to sell in no
time." Wynn marvelled briefly, but his eyes soon fell back to the girl
before him.

Evelle bent down and picked up a small basket. "I had brought
some fruit and berries for a snack. But I wanted to show you
something." She grinned, and made her way off swiftly along the shore,
soon entering a light scattering of trees.

<Go have your fun.> Malekith sent, the two dragons busily
splashing each other. <I will be fine.>

<I don't doubt it.> Wynn smiled, and quickly made his way after
Evelle.

He only managed to catch her after some time, and only then
because she came to a stop. Wynn walked up beside her, following her
gaze out over the water before them. The small grotto was nearly a pond
in itself, the land encircling it and nearly cutting it off from the
lake. A small series of rapids sent water trickling down into the
little lagoon. Moss covered boulders lay half in the water, trees
surrounding almost the entire pond. The sun glinted off the water in a
golden streak, leaving the water sparkling blue.

Wynn was struck silent, and after a moment Evelle looked up to
him and smiled. "I thought you might like it."

Wynn nodded mutely, still gazing over the beautiful sight. Then
turned to Evelle, smiling. "I like it very much, Evelle, it is
beautiful." He eyed the basket as she knelt down to place it on the
ground. "Shall we eat?"

Evelle shook her head. "No, I would like to swim for a bit
first. How about you?" She gave a slightly mischievious smile, and
before Wynn realized it, she had removed her boots and was beginning to
take off her shirt. Flustered, Wynn averted his eyes, looking back over
the pool. Evelle giggled to herself at Wynn's landbound sensibilities
and with a quick dash dove into the warm water.

Wynn glanced briefly at her as she swam lazily in the water. It
hadn't been just his own polite sensibilities that caused him to turn
his eyes. He didn't know what he would do if he saw her as he did that
day. His heart fluttered, and his face was quite flushed. Hopefully
Evelle wouldn't notice.

A sheet of water suddenly doused him from head to toe, and he
gasped in shock and surprise. Evelle laughed lightly, she had much
practice the day before against Alicynth. He turned to her, his heart
nearly stopping at the sight. Evelle stood up to her waist in water, a
beautiful smile shining from her face, water glistening in the lowering
sun on her bare skin. Her hair was a darker red, stray locks clinging
closely to her over her shoulders. She giggled again and sent another
spray of water at him. Realizing it too late, Wynn stood again
sputtering, any tension now broken. "I'll get you for that!" He
called, a smile showing just how serious he was.

"Only one way to get me." Evelle called back, and dove into the
water, swimming out further from shore.

Wynn undressed quickly. If Evelle was not going to be
embarrassed by nudity, then he shouldn't either. He dove quickly into
the water, however, a blush still to his cheeks. The two played
gleefully, dousing and dunking each other in the water. Evelle laughed
happily, and was rewarded with equally rich laughes from Wynn. They
splashed and swam for a long while, growing tired, but neither wanting
the time to end.

Evelle watched as Wynn took a deep breath and dive under the
water. The glinting sun made it impossible to see what lay beneath the
surface, and she searched vainly to see where he would show up. She
knew suddenly that he was behind her just before he broke the surface,
his arms reaching out and encircling her. The feeling was electifying,
and yet amazingly calm. Wynn's thin strong arms felt perfect around
her, and she sighed as she sank back against him.

Wynn had expected the young queenrider to struggle in his grasp,
but was not disappointed when she didn't. Her head rested gently
against his shoulder, and a small sigh escaped her lips. He held her to
him, the water rising to his neck as he stood on the bottom of the
pond.

The two remained that way, watching the sun slowly set. Evelle
turned her head to him, following some instinct, and their lips met in a
sweet kiss. Not a word was spoken, and she raised a hand up to his
cheek, kissing him more deeply. She thought of turning in his arms, but
one hand traced lightly across her stomach, leaving a trail of shivering
goosebumps despite the warm pool they were in. She closed her eyes,
scared slightly, but exhilirated as well. She raised her other hand
over her head, her fingers tangling in his dark wet hair. Wynn's hand
moved higher, tentatively brushed across one breast. Evelle moaned into
Wynn's mouth, their lips locked in a needful kiss, the feeling electic.
Her body responded on its own, and pushed against his hand desiring
more. His hand gently caressed her breast, small sighs of pleasure
coming from her as his fingers excited her nipple. She shifted against
him, feeling his growing arousal against her.

Wynn's other hand gently massaged her hip, then dipped down
further, stroking along her thigh. His hand stroked across her to her
other leg, and she moaned again. His fingers traced enticingly lightly
along her inner thigh, reaching almost to her knee before again rising.
Her body shifted, her legs parting slightly, and she was so lost in his
touching her that she was no longer sure when she acted consciously and
when her body acted for her. Evelle's heavy breathing was punctuated by
a slight yelp of pleasure as his hand rested against her. Spasms of
pleasure sent quivers throughout her entire body. Her hand snaked down
her chest and stomach to meet with his own, softly caressing, her body
responding in kind to his touch. She felt so wonderful, the waves of
intense pleasure rising still higher, each time thinking she reached the
peak, and each time another wave surpassed that. Her whole body shook
against him, her chest heaving against his firm, gentle touch, her lips
seaching and finding his own.

Evelle tensed against him, her body stiffening. Wynn pressed
himself closer to her, feeling a quiver course through her entire
being. She kissed him hard, the whole universe exploding around her as
a cry escaped her mouth into his.

Evelle barely caught her breath when the world came back to
her. She first realized that Wynn had stopped caressing her, but she
still felt as if on fire. Then, she heard it. <Evelle.>

<My sweet one.> Evelle sent back to Alicynth.

<You ... you must hurry. The Dragonlady needs to speak with
you.> Evelle's experience had an effect on the dragon, though not as
strong as for Evelle, and it took a moment before she realized what the
dragon had said.

<Can it not wait?> She had no desire to leave Wynn's arms now.

<No. You must see her now. Ralengarde has refused it's tithe.>

Evelle looked up into Wynn's eyes, his face grim.

NRPG: It seems Wynn will forever be a day behind :) Just trying to
catch myself up to everything, and the next day has already begun :)

However, I don't see why a bunch of training dragonriders would respond
to the call, Chris. Especially with wraiths about. However, it is
quite a plot, I just hope Michel is all right.

Judi: I hope you find this satisfactory. I thought that I should at
least try to keep up with the events that are happening, and if anyone
should find out about Ralengarde, it would be Evelle. The next
encounter will be for you to write. ;)

Justin: Though Wynn wouldn't mind sparring with David, I just couldn't
see how to work in the offer. Wynn does not carry a sword around with
him unless necessary. Feel free to work that in if you can, though Wynn
will not be on par with David, though he does have a natural talent for
the blade. Also, I hope I played David all right.
