(DL) Headaches and all.....
David shok his head lightly, the pulse settleing to a throb. He
looked up to Araminta kneling beside him. Her head was turned and she
was talking to Wynn. She wanted to go and help Michael....
"Perhaps you are right. We must prepare for the worst this day can offer.
Where does the Warren keep it's medical supplies? Bandages, pain numbing
ointments, the like? I cannot just stand here, I -must- do something......"
Araminta explained to Wynn, her voice stern and resolute.
David spoke up..... "O'corse he es right, lass." He tried
standing and the world spun. Minty helped him to his feet slowly. "Our
dragons are no better prepared than us. Let those who have earned te'
right t' be called DragonRiders fly, for soonenough we will join them."
The pain gradually left, and the world did not rock as much. "I know the
way t' te' medical buildin's." He took a step, and his knees almost buckled.
He smiled at Minty and shrugged, "That es if someone could help me?"
She nodded and took his arm over her shoulder. He was taeller
than her, and his arms thick with muscles, but she managed to hold him
steady. They headed slowly towards the madical barracks, and soon David
had regained his balance, and reluctently took his arm off of Minty's
shoulder. He walked on slowly though.
"I remember te' way from te' hatchin." David explained. "When
Kaylin and I bonded, the telepathy emerged. Try havin' all te warren's
dragons in yer head, and ye can see what I mean." He laughed lightly.
"This time I didn't pass out though." A wide smile formed on his lips.
"I must be gettin better."
Araminta smiled with him, hers still holding a tint of shyness.
"Maybe. It seemed to affect M'ressan the same way."
"Aye, that it did. But he recovered faster....there es still much t' be
learned by him." David said, stareing off in front of him. "Ye seemed
very much in control back at te' green." He decided to change subjects.
He could tell not many people were comfortable with telepathy. "Not shy
for a minute."
The question brought a new shade of red to the young womans cheeks. She
looked away a bit. "I was concerned for Michael. He is one of us!" Her
resolve broke through the shyness.
"I know that lass, but we are still trainee's." David said as they
turned the corner. The warren seemed barren with most of the riders
gone. "I wish I could have gone too. But long ago Iearned from me Da
not t' jump into things when ye are not prepared." David winced, not
meanng to bring up the subject fo fathers. He hid it well though.
"Wise teachings." The young woman added, her eyes hiding some pain.
"But I have been told constantly that we are a family, so I took it to
heart."
"And that we are. A close family. But we would have only been hinderin
Michael by goin with te' others." David lay a hand on her shoulder. "We
all are worried, too."
She nodded and soon they were at the medical barracks. As they entered,
they saw M'tan sitting next to his dragon, lost in thought. David
suddenly wondered about Kaylin.
'*Kay, where are ye'?* He thought.
*I am heading where you are with Kirimith.* The reply came. *You humans
are such hasty creatures.*
David smiled and looked at Araminta. "Kaylin and Kirimith are heading
this way. They think that we es 'Hasty' creatures." He stressed the
word hasty, laughing mildly. "But are dragons not lazy?" He said to
Minty as he thought it to both dragons. All he heard back was a slight
chuckle.
Minty agreed with a grin of her own, and set about the place looking for
supplies to ready. David did the same, setting wraps and bandages on
clean tables, ready for use......
