(DL) Rescue

Reolden woke after a good nights sleep and couldn't remeber where
he was. In a moment it came back to him. Last night he and Trendal had
found an appartment to call their own. He felt more rested than he had
since the hatching. Trendal prefered sleeping under the stars rather than
in the barracks, and he had slept out with him. Last night, however, he
slept in a bed instead of on the ground. A vast improvement in his
opinion. Fortunatly they had found an appartment with a ledge so that
Trendal could sleep under the stars while he slept in a bed.

It was time for breakfast so Reolden started getting ready to go
down to the dining hall. M'ressan had found some clothes better suited to
dragon riding than what he had when he arrived. He put them on: a dark
green tunic and brown trousers made from some heavy cloth. He still needed
a god pair of boots, however.

<You might see about getting some from that leatherworker that's
been around lately.>

	<Trendal. I didn't know you were awake. You're right, I should.
He does good work. I'll see if I can find him after breakfast.>

<Good. Go get breakfast. I'm going to go streach my wings a bit.>

As he watched Trendal take off for a morning flight he noticed that
there were some streak of golden brown developing on Trendal's hide.

As he walked into the dining hall for breakfast, Reolden noticed
Almiron sitting at a table playing a game of some kind with M'tan. He
decided to go over and watch the game and see about buying some boots from
Almiron when they were done. It was an interesting looking game played
with carved wooden pieces on a leather board.

M'tan made the final move of the game and exclaimed, "I won!"

"You are quick student," Almiron replied, eyeing the pieces left on
the board. "I would not have thought of quite that maneuver."

"That is a very interesting looking game. What is it?" Reolden
asked Almiron.

"Ah. Are you interested in game? It is called tehdahkh. I will
teach if you like."

"I would be very interested in learning it sometime, but right now
I'd like to discuss buying a pair of boots from you."

"Good. Please acompany me to my room and I will show my ware."

At the door to Almiron's room he paused and said, "Please excuse
mess. I am working on some project." and then opened the door to a very
clean room. "Here is my ware. Boot is over there. Please look and see if
any please you."

Reolden went over to look through the boots. There were several
nice pair. Almiron's workmanship was very good. After searching for a few
minutes he found a pair that he like, and picked them up. "How much for
this pair?" he asked Almiron.

"How much? You do not barter? Do you pay coin?"

"Yes I'll pay with coins." Reolden replied, somewhat puzzled.

"Let me show you more ware first." he said, with a big smile on his
face.

After some time Reolden left with a new pair of boots, a nice belt,
a leather headband, and a leather vest. A pair of leather pants would be
ready in a couple of days.

********

Trendal was in the middle of some training excersises with Reolden
when the call came from Paranth <Help! Michal and I are in trouble!
Wraiths and a rogue dragonrider!>

He imediately told Reolden <Paranth and Michal are in trouble.
They have been attacked by a couple of wraiths and a rogue dragonrider, and
are down!>

<What are we supposed to do?>

<I don't know. Everyone is discussing it. Wait a minute.>

In a few minutes he told Reolden the outcome of the discussion.
<It has been decided that the trainees are too inexperienced to go and help
and that others will go while we stay here.>

	<Oh. Okay.>

<But I think we should go. I want to go help. Come on. I've got
the image of where they are. We can teleport.>

	<Uh, do you think that's a good idea?  We're supposed to wait.>

<I don't care if it's a good idea. It's the right thing to do.
Besides, don't you want to see it?>

<Well... okay. How do we teleprt?>

<Get mounted. Take the image from me, and concentrate. I'll do
the rest.>

Reolden did as told and in a few seconds he and Trendal were in the
air above a combat. There were several wraiths, and a few dragonriders,
all above a cloud of smoke. <I'm not sure what we can do in the fight. I
can't breath much fire yet. Let's go see about Michal. He's in the cloud
of smoke.>

<Okay> Reolden replied, as Trendal started down into the smoke, not
waiting fr the reply.

<I can see through this smoke okay. There is someone already
helping Paranth and Michal. It's Makalya and Darlea. I see someone else
here. I don't know who it is. She's down on the ground and looks pretty
weak. I'm going to go see who she is and if she needs help.> Trendal said
as he started over towards her.

<Okay. Sounds like a good idea. Why don't we do that.>

Trendal landed next to the girl. She was right in the edge of the
smoke. It looked like she was unconcious. <Reolden, why don't you get
down and see if she is alright.>

Reolden climed off Trendal and went over to look at her. <I can't
see very good in this smoke, but she seems to be a young girl. She's small
and looks to be in pretty bad shape. Should we try to take her back? Can
you carry both of us? And how is Michal doing?>

<Makalya, Darlea, and Paranth seem to be doing pretty good with
Michal. I think they can get him out. It will be tiring, but I can carry
both of you. She's small. Get her up here and let's get going.>

Reolden struggled to get the girl up on Trendal. It wasn't easy,
even as small as she was. Eventually he succeded and climed up behind her.
Trendal took flight and, as soon as they were out of the smoke, he and
Reolden visualized the warren and he teleported.

As soon as they were back over Keldara warren, Trendal called to
the dragons in the medical building <We have an injured person, but don't
know who she is. We'll be landing by the medical building and will need
some help.>

The response did not come from a dragon, however. It was David,
<We're ready.  Come on down.>

Respectufully submitted,
Mike Cowper,
Trendal and Reolden
