[DL] Malk Bromitz

The large man threw Darlea on the hard cold stone floor of the cave. "Don't
move, girly." He said gruffly as he headed over to a fire pit full of
smoldering coals. He glared at the coals as if trying to get them to burn
again. Then chuckling, he looked over at Darlea. "Well, now I've got myself
someone to make a fire for me, don't I?"

Darlea glared back at him, "I'm not going to do anything for you." She was
scared, but was determined not to let her fear show. She knew that the
DragonRiders would come for her as they had for Michel. They wouldn't let
this horrible man get away with taking her like this.

"Mighty big words for such a little girl, missy. How old are ya anyway,
15.. 16?" the man chuckled when Darlea didn't answer, "Ha... they start 'em
young, don't they? That's a mistake I would never make."

"You've already made a big mistake. You won't get away with this."

"Oh, ya think I'm afraid of your 'Warren friends'?" He said, snickering.

"They'll come for me."

"I'm counting on it." Malk smirked at the thought. "I have big surprises for
them." He walked over and grabbed Darlea by the arm and pulled her to the
fire, "Now, fix my fire!"

"I won't do it!" Darlea shouted.

Malk roared as he swung his arm, sending her slamming into the wall. His
dragon also roared with anger. "You'll do as I say or you won't see your
friends again! And what about the lovely green dragon of yours? Do you know
what will happen to her when I slash your pretty little neck?"

Darlea faltered at the thought of Makayla. She rubbed her face where he had
hit her. It was already beginning to swell. She was sure he would follow
through on his threat to kill her if she didn't cooperate. Then what would
happen to Makayla. While occasionally riders survived the loss of their
dragons, dragons never survived the loss of their riders. The thought of
Makayla teleporting to oblivion devastated her. She could not allow that to
happen.

Slowly she got up and moved to the fire pit. Malk chortled at his victory.
This is only the first, he thought, soon he would get his revenge.

There was a disturbance at the opening of the cave. Malk's long black hair
swung around as he turned to see a group of Wraiths clamoring at the
entrance. "Yenal, shut those monsters up!"

<It is feeding time, Malk> The dragon said matter-of-factly. The large black
dragon then got up spreading his immense wings and took off to hunt for food
for them. He was not happy about the agreement with the wormy little
Wraiths, but it was necessary at the time to make such a bargain in order
save Malk's life. Yenal wondered how long until they could break the pact
and get on with life.

Darlea watched the Dragon fly off with the Wraiths. "How can you stand to
be near such demons, let alone work with them." she wrinkled her nose at the
thought.

"I don't need any words from you, girly! Just watch it, or you'll feel the
back of my hand again!" Darlea refused to cower at the man's threat,
however she did bite her tongue.

Scene: Dining hall, Keldarra Warren

None of the riders confronted by D'Nar had a chance to speak due to the cry
from Aleta.

"We'll discuss this shortly, D'Nar." M'ressan said with authority. D'Nar
knowing that Melianth was rising to mate, simply nodded. Everything had to
be put on hold until the mating flight was over.

Sheltie, somewhat calmed by Melnora saw the group heading out of the dining
hall. "Wait!" she called. She grabbed D'Nar by the arm, "Where are you
going? What about Darlea?"

"Aleta's Melianth rises, Sheltie."

"How can you think about that at a time like this!" she glared at him. "What
about your daughter?"

"Sheltie, we are still going to find her, but right now our dragon's need
us! The mating flight is very hard on the dragons... all of them, not just
the two mating."

"You just want Porthios to fly her, don't you. That's all you're thinking
about!"

D'Nar sighed. "Melnora, take her somewhere, I don't have time for this now."
He watched as the older woman led Sheltie away. Sheltie continued to shout
at him. It had been 13 years since he had lived at Keldarra with her and it
was still the same. She did not understand Dragonkind. He had no intention
of having Porthios fly Melianth. That was the reason he had to be there.
Porthios was a large, strong dragon, he could not take the chance that he
might actually win. This was no longer his Warren. He did not have the right.

He called to Porthios, who was caught up in the frenzy of the mating flight
around him. <I can win her, D'Nar! I'm the best, I'm the biggest, she will
be mine!>

<No!> D'Nar ordered.

Rider and dragon battled for control. Had he not been in the throws of the
mating flight, Porthios would never have fought his rider. But the passions
were strong in all dragons at this time. D'Nar found himself caught up in
the passions of his dragon, almost wanting to allow Porthios to win, but he
maintained control and eventually Porthios gave in to his riders will.
